Chapter 190 - The New CEO

Name:The Idol's Wife Author:Tea_Tae
"I'm sure the CEO will be thrilled to hear this!" Junki was saying loudly on the phone. "An exclusive interview for the newlyweds will be the perfect start to their marriage!"

"Are you sure they will agree?" a voice came from the other end of the phone. "Kwon Jiwon is notorious for his privacy. And we hardly know if his wife will be up for the interview."

"Trust me," Junki replied. "Our CEO is a businesswoman. She would love to get herself featured in order to boost business. After all, this is showbiz!"

"Alright," the reporter said. "I'll be coming tomorrow for the interview. It will take place at their house. What's their new address?"

"I'll collect it from them," Junki said happily. If the interview was successful, he was sure that he would be promoted. After all, the new CEO is a professional in handling the media. This will add more glamor to her profile and she will become even more renowned.

"Sir," Junki's assistant, Shelley spoke up. "Are you sure the new CEO will like this? What if she refuses?"

"Nonsense!" Junki scoffed. "Why wouldn't she like being interviewed? It'll make her famous! She's already Kwon Jiwon's wife but after this exclusive feature, she'll become famous! Maybe even get a few commercial deals since she's a beauty."

"Weren't you calling her a gold digger a few days ago?" Shelley said warily

"Times change!" Junki snapped. "I'll make sure that she appears for that interview otherwise-"

"Otherwise what, Mr. Shin?" a cool voice challenged him.

Junki spun around to see Mirae looking at him with bored eyes. She was passing by the office corridor and had stopped when she heard her name. Everyone at the office looked up curiously and were awed by the beautiful girl towering over Junki. She was wearing a simple pink suit but the soft color made her appearance beam. It perfectly complemented her fair skin and coupled with her green eyes, she looked more like a supermodel than the CEO of a company.

Yet, as she spoke with Junki, her authoritarian aura oozed out. They could tell that Junki was playing with fire.

"CEO Jung!" Junki immediately stood up and bowed. "I didn't know you'd be at the office today."

"Do I have to tell you when I can come to the office?" she asked, raising an eyebrow.

"No...of course not, ma'am," Junki said, bowing down. He gritted his teeth. This brat dares to throw her attitude around me! He fumed inwardly. But she was the CEO and he did not want to jeopardize his chances with her.

"I was just speaking to a media agency," Junki reported. "They want to take an exclusive interview of yours for their upcoming magazine issue, Vague Mela. It's the top magazine of Korea and they'll give you a front page featu-"

"Cancel it," Mirae ordered. "I have no intention of wasting time on frivolous interviews. The company is more important."

"But ma'am-" Junki started but Mirae cut him off.

"Instead of wasting time on these things," Mirae said. "Prepare PR plan on the promotions of the artists. We'll not be taking any new trainees."

"No new trainees?" Junki frowned. "But with EXOTIC gone, we need to prepare a new girl group! It had been on the discussions for months."

"What about the current girl group?" Mirae asked. "Six X? They're one of the top groups of the country yet they received no comebacks for the past two years."

"The members are now too old," Junki said.

"They're in their twenties," Mirae countered. "That's not too old. Their image is of a girl crush anyway. Prepare a promotional plan for their comeback. Talk to every composer of the country and offer them for a collaboration. If they refuse, then we'll do it in-house."

"It'll be a loss to invest in them!" Junki spoke up heartedly. The other employees were whispering among themselves as they witnessed the argument. Junki was overstepping his boundaries but he was right. Six X was considered to be old by the nation's standards. They were in their twenties and are on the brink of disbandment.

"Either prepare for Six X's comeback or you can leave," Mirae stated. "Your choice."

Junki gaped at her. Did she just threaten to fire him?

"You can't fire me!" he protested.

"I'm just giving you a choice," Mirae replied coolly. "Either way, Six X is getting a comeback. It's up to you whether you want to do it nicely or do you want to fight a losing battle."

Junki's face was red with anger but he dared not say anything. Instead, he lowered his head and mumbled, "Yes ma'am."

Mirae gave him a hard stare before heading towards her office. The employees would have felt bad for Junki if it was not for their dislike of him. He was always sucking up to the higher ups and got unfair advantages when it came to promotions. He took credit for other people's works, which made him an increasingly hateable figure in the company.

But seeing how the new CEO upstaged him, gave them a new hope. She was not to be taken lightly and Junki would not be able to lick her feet.

Mirae entered her office and immediately buzzed in her assigned PA.

"Hi hi!" a cheerful voice greeted her as he barged in.

"Psycho," she sighed. As part of her personal team to run Mystic Entertainment, KJ had arranged the hiring of some of the core Abyss members. Riggs was the new Head of Security while Psycho was chosen as her PA. Riggs had also arranged for N2 to be the in-house doctor, while Somi will assume the position of an acting coach along with her usual schedules once she is discharged.

"I prefer to be called Soonjae at the office," Psycho corrected her.

"Fine, Soonjae," Mirae said. "What are the pending tasks?"

"First of all, you'll need to attend an investor's meeting," he stated, reading from a notepad. "To convince them that even though EXOTIC has disbanded, the company can still make money without the whole band."

"That's not a big deal," Mirae shrugged. "KJ alone made over one billion dollars in endors.e.m.e.nt and song royalties for the company. They're just scared because of the scandals. Make that PR handle it. Next."

"You have to attend the opening of a mall before lunch," he said. "It's an exclusive property where Mystic Entertainment had invested millions in order to ensure that their artists become the brand ambassadors of the top retail and designer brands which will open stores there. Only the top elites can go there."

"Ugh," Mirae rolled her eyes. The inauguration would probably be attended by the country's VIP's or more specifically, the wives and daughters of the VIP's. Growing up in that social circle, Mirae had little desire to mingle with any of them. But it was not part of her job. She would need to expand her business networks in order to ensure that the company stays on the top.

She clapped her hands excitedly. "Alright then!" she said. "Let's get to work."
