Chapter 134 - Hann Constructions (X) The Pendrive

"And that is how we're gonna break in!" Mirae exclaimed happily, shutting down the laptop. She looked up to see KJ and Ash giving her incredulous looks.

"What's wrong?" she frowned.

"That...might actually work," KJ said slowly.

"You're a genius," Ash agreed, still gaping at her.

"You guys don't give me enough credit," Mirae pouted, crossing her arms. "After all, I did create Abyss."

KJ shook his head in disbelief. She was right; they had underestimated her a lot. For over two hours, she explained them the ingenious plan she worked on for the past couple of days. If everything goes alright, they might actually be able to break into Hann Constructions without much risk.

"I'll still have to be inside the building for this to work," Mirae explained. "So someone will need to keep a lookout."

"Ash will be at the meeting though," KJ pointed out. "Who will cover for you?"

"I have someone in mind," Mirae shrugged. "That person will be my cover."

KJ did not ask anymore but nodded.

"You did well," he complimented.

"The glutton is smart too," Ash teased ruffling Mirae's hair. She smiled sheepishly, her eyes twinkling upon his touch. Seeing the couple's gestures sent sparks of jealousy inside KJ's heart but he tried to remain impassive. But his composure almost fell apart when Ash leaned over to give her a peck on the lips.

Thankfully, the couple did not notice KJ's sour expression since Mirae's stomach grumbled loudly at that very moment.

"You didn't eat breakfast," Ash realized.

"I was so excited to reveal my plan that I forgot," Mirae admitted.

"We should head back," Ash suggested. "I'll make us something."

"You guys can have breakfast here," KJ suggested, masking his jealousy. "I was about to make some cereal anyway."

But Ash shook his head. "She did not eat anything since yesterday," he said. "She needs more than just cereal."

"You're probably tired though," KJ insisted. "Stay and I'll make breakfast for you two."

In all honesty, he just wanted to cut their time short together. It was petty of him but he could not help himself. It was very difficult for him to control his growing feelings. Ash and Mirae looked at each other before turning back to KJ.

"KJ you're tired too," Mirae said. "You need rest. Besides, Ash doesn't have any schedule today."

She emphasized on the last part, hoping that KJ would get the hint that they wanted to spend some time alone as well.

Before KJ could open his mouth, Mirae grabbed Ash's hand and led him out.

"Bye!" they waved at KJ before exiting the house.

For a moment, KJ stared at the door they had just left through. He felt a sting in his heart. He knew that he had lost his chance with Mirae the moment he had left her in the original timeline. Even if his choice had saved her life, she would not have died if he had turned around that night.

And now, he must live with the consequences of that choice he made all those years ago. Forever.

….

Hyun Jung was driving towards the police precinct. HIs eyes were on the road but his head was still grasping what Somi had just told him.

"I am Heroine," she revealed. "I work for Abyss."

Even though Somi did not share the details, she said that the CEO of Abyss is an old friend of hers and had reached out to her many years ago in order to take down the Cartel. What surprised him was the fact that Somi actually agreed to do this.

As far as he knew, Somi always steered clear of anything to do with the illegal activities of the entertainment world. She never liked to mingle with such people nor was she ever interested in their businesses. Why would she suddenly take up the job of spying on them?

No matter how many times he asked, Somi was adamant. She would not tell him anything.

"And what about us?" he finally asked her. "Where does all this leave us?"

She looked at him mournfully. Her heart was full of regret for what she had done to the person she loved. But her nightmares would not let her live a happy life.

"Nowhere," she answered. "We can't pick up from where we had left."

Her words rang in his ears. No matter what happens, she refused to give themselves another chance. It pained him to see her in such a state but he felt helpless. Unless she was ready to confide in him, he knew their relationship will not last.

Parking his car in front of the police station, he slammed the door of the car loudly as he got out. His head was filled with heated thoughts and his heart was hurt at his helplessness.

Eli noticed his troubled expression when he entered the office.

"Sunbae, you seem upset," she commented. "What happened?"

"Nothing," Hyun Jung said shortly, sitting at his desk. He was in no mood to talk to anyone. Eli bit her lips. Hyun Jung looked in a bad mood and she did not want to worsen it by telling him that she had visited KJ only to be told off by one of the members of EXOTIC. It might worsen his mood. Instead, she kept her mouth shut and started to work on her other cases.

After a while, a delivery man walked into the station.

"Is there a Lee Hyun Jung here?" the delivery man asked aloud. Hyun Jung looked up.

"I'm here," he replied. The delivery man handed him a parcel.

"Please sign here," he said.

"This has no return address," Hyun Jung frowned. "Who sent it?"

"I do not know, sir," the delivery man replied. "A man wearing a hat and a mask handed this over and asked us to deliver it. He even paid the delivery charges in full."

Hyun Jung frowned. He signed the paper and handed it back to the delivery man who took his leave.

"What's the matter, Sunbae?" Eli asked.

"Someone sent me this parcel," Hyun Jung said. He studied the parcel carefully. It was wrapped neatly with a blue paper. Upon shaking it, Hyun Jung could tell that there was something small in it.

"Should we open it?" Eli asked, feeling a little scared. "What if it has an explosive?"

"We'll only know when we open it," Hyun Jung said. Truthfully, he was skeptical as well but they would have to open the parcel anyway.

He carefully peeled the blue paper off and opened the box. Eli, who was closing her eyes in fear, felt relieved. Inside it was a pendrive.

"What could this contain?" Eli whispered.

"Let's find out," Hyun Jung said, inserting the pendrive into the PC.

The screen flashed up to show the inside of a mansion. Two men were in it, sitting on the couch in silence. One had grey hair while the other had dark hair. Hyun Jung immediately recognized the dark haired man: Shun Oguri. A few minutes later, they were joined by a man in his late twenties. The sight of the latter made Hyun Jung's eyes widen in shock.

It was Junhyung.
