Si Di miraculously came back to life for no apparent reason, while Xiao Zhenyun, with a lifeless expression, was forcibly taken for a full-body examination and kept in the hospital for observation. The test results revealed some old issues and excessive fatigue, prompting him to focus on rest and self-care. Subsequently, the doctor suggested a mental power monitoring for Xiao Zhenyun as a guide, but he firmly declined.

He didn’t want to expose the secret that his body had undergone a significant change.

However, he was genuinely curious about the sudden high fever and exhaustion that occurred at night. Helpless, he resorted to searching the star network by himself. After half an hour, Xiao Zhenyun had been diagnosed with brain cancer by an online doctor, with little time left to live, awaiting death in place.

The visit from the administrator came late. He had set his identity as Xiao Zhenyun’s foster son, named  Xiao Nian. In the evening, he entered the room without expression, sitting by the hospital bed, and said coldly, “Si Di’s condition has stabilized completely. The doctor said he will wake up the day after tomorrow.”

“Did your book have an error?” Xiao Zhenyun asked.

“It’s impossible,”  Xiao Nian furrowed his brows, “My book can’t possibly have errors. In the original plot, Si Di had an unsuccessful rescue and died… Something must have changed the plot.” As he spoke, he cast a suspicious gaze towards Xiao Zhenyun. “And the person most likely responsible for all this…”

“I haven’t done anything,” Xiao Zhenyun confidently uttered these words, even with a slight smirk. “You’re overthinking, can I really go into the operating room and save Si Di?”

Xiao Nian fell silent, holding the hardcover book in his hands, flipping through it quickly. Soon, he looked up solemnly and said, “Si Di can’t be alive. If he lives, the whole script will fall apart, and this world will collapse.”

Xiao Zhenyun still couldn’t understand why changing the plot of a book would lead to the world’s destruction. Perplexed, he asked, “Aren’t you the administrator of this world? Don’t you have any special abilities? Like reversing time or something?”

Seeing that Xiao Zhenyun was completely unaware of the seriousness of the problem,  Xiao Nian’s face turned stern. “If I had a way, I would have kicked you out of this world the moment you accidentally stumbled into it.”

His words were far from polite, but Xiao Zhenyun unexpectedly chuckled, “So, what do you suggest? Si Di has inexplicably come back to life. We can’t just sneak in overnight and kill him, can we?”

After saying that, the two of them locked eyes for a long time.  Xiao Nian unexpectedly nodded earnestly, “That proposal can be considered as one of the follow-up action plans.”

Xiao Zhenyun: “…”

“Why didn’t Si Di die?”  Xiao Nian couldn’t understand. “…Could he have become a transmigrator too?”

“That falls within your jurisdiction. I can’t answer that,” Xiao Zhenyun confidently replied, even lying back in bed, “I’ll request to stay in the hospital for a few more days to observe Si Di’s condition. Remember to bring me cigarettes when you visit next time.”

Xiao Nian only wanted to shove a chimney into Xiao Zhenyun’s head. His intuition told him that Xiao Zhenyun was definitely involved in this deviation in the plot. However, he had no evidence and couldn’t confront him. He could only go back with a worried frown to check the source code of this world, praying that another transmigrator wouldn’t appear.

For the next few days, Xiao Zhenyun stayed true to his word and stubbornly refused to leave the hospital. Unfortunately, he couldn’t enjoy a moment of leisure. The visitors kept coming, especially Si Di’s parents, Xiao Zhenyun’s cousin and cousin-in-law. They went from visiting the Sentry Hospital Building in Block A to directly heading into the Guide Tower in Block B, carrying large and small packages as if they were moving an entire nearby shopping mall.

Although they were considered cousins, they had no blood relationship. Xiao Zhenyun’s father was adopted by the Si family and later married into the Xiao family, which held more influence among the special individuals.

Si Di’s parents always believed that Xiao Zhenyun’s illness was due to staying up late worrying. On one hand, they were moved by Xiao Zhenyun’s heartfelt concern for their eldest nephew, but on the other hand, they felt guilty. Apart from Si Di and Si Chu, everyone else in their family was an ordinary person, engaged in generations of business. Thus, they were extra generous when it came to buying things.

Xiao Zhenyun looked at the pile of honey, ginseng, bird’s nests, tea leaves, and more on the ground. After three days of bland soup, a hint of dissatisfaction appeared on his face.

On the fourth day, Si Di finally woke up.

Xiao Zhenyun, who had been fattening up in bed, shook his wheelchair and eagerly approached to join in the excitement.

He secretly hoped that Si Di was also a transmigrator like him so they would have something in common. However, after an all-night effort,  Xiao Nian brought back the news that the world barrier hadn’t encountered any problems, and Si Di was still the same indigenous Si Di. The reason for his survival was yet to be determined.

When Xiao Zhenyun arrived, Si Chu, the second man, and Ye Feiran, the third man, were already in the hospital room. Both of them had gloomy expressions. Si Chu had a slight injury on the side of his face, just bandaged by the nurse, and he winced in pain. Ye Feiran leaned against the wall, breathing heavily, with several vibrant feathers sprouting from his head. His exhausted eyes were half-open.

No one spoke in the room, and the soft rain served as a gentle white noise. Si Chu, who had been sitting by the hospital bed with his back to the door, looked up at Xiao Zhenyun when he heard his voice and hurriedly stood up, “Little uncle, why are you here? Is your health okay?”

Xiao Zhenyun had a naturally fair complexion, long black hair cascading over his shoulders, and he looked even more frail in the striped patient gown. Sitting in the wheelchair, he seemed about to collapse at any moment, as if he would depart on a crane in the next second.

“Chairman,” Ye Feiran managed to greet, his forehead glistening with sweat. Several colorful plumes appeared on his head, and his tired eyes struggled to stay open.

“What happened?” Xiao Zhenyun asked, confused, as he directed his gaze towards the nearby hospital bed.

Si Di, as tall and sturdy as Xiao Zhenyun had imagined, with a beautiful head of silver-white short hair, wasn’t ‘lying’ on the bed as he had expected. Instead, he was firmly bound to the bed.

He wore a thick straitjacket, with all his limbs secured. His eyebrows were tightly furrowed, his cheeks sunken, his lips cracked, one eye swollen, and his forehead wrapped in bandages. Cold sweat kept appearing on his shoulders and neck, and his damp white hair scattered softly on the pillow.

Only a sentinel who needed to be controlled for fear of spiraling into a mental frenzy would be put in a straitjacket to prevent him from causing harm.

This was the first time Xiao Zhenyun saw Si Di… Although he had never thought that he would be able to see the living Si Di.

“Little uncle,” Si Chu’s words immediately caused pain in his facial wound, causing him to wince in pain. “My brother woke up just now, but after speaking only a few sentences, he fell into a mental frenzy. It took us and three sentinel doctors a lot of effort to bring him under control… The doctor said his spiritual domain is severely damaged, and it might be difficult for him to establish a mental barrier to regulate his senses… The next period might be a long phase of easily triggered mental frenzy.”

The sentinel in a state of mental madness would lose all reason and indiscriminately attack every living thing around, exhausting himself both physically and mentally, causing significant harm. Despite frequent episodes of mental insanity, Si Di remained alive, although injured.

Xiao Zhenyun showed just the right amount of concern, even lovingly moving his wheelchair forward to brush aside a strand of damp hair from Si Di’s brow.

“Will he die?” he asked.

In fact, Xiao Zhenyun was most concerned about this. Xiao Nian had been worried these past few days over Si Di’s unexpected revival. He kept muttering about the world coming to an end, how Si Di was the legitimate fiance of the second male lead, and now that Si Di hadn’t died, what reason will the first and second leads have to get engaged? How would the plot progress?

Xiao Zhenyun, on the other hand, didn’t think things would be so dire. It was clear that Si Chu and Ye Feiran had developed mutual affection for each other. It didn’t necessarily mean they would be separated just because of a well-intentioned child’s wish between their elders.

“No, he won’t!” Ye Feiran suddenly raised his voice, his gaze determined and resolute. “Brother Si Di won’t die. No matter what it takes, I will definitely repair his injured spiritual domain and help him safely get through this period of mental madness.”

“…”

Xiao Zhenyun suddenly had a very ominous premonition.

The next day, that premonition quickly turned into reality.

At that time, Xiao Zhenyun was watching with Xiao Nian as the caregiver packed their belongings, preparing to leave the hospital. The attending physician had issued an ultimatum, stating that there was a shortage of beds and that the vice chairman should not occupy public healthcare resources unnecessarily.

Suddenly, Si Chu walked in with a dejected look on his face, his tail tightly tucked between his legs. His wolfdog trailed behind him, looking dejected as well. When it saw Xiao Zhenyun teasing it with yogurt, it immediately whimpered and placed its front paws on his knee.

“What’s wrong?” Xiao Zhenyun gently rubbed the wolfhound’s head while directing the question towards Si Chu.

“It’s nothing. I heard you’re going to be discharged, so I came to see you off,” Si Chu forced a cheerful smile but couldn’t hold back for long.

Just three minutes after saying everything was fine, he had a mournful expression on his face again. “Uncle, I overheard my dad and Uncle Ye discussing. They said my brother’s mental condition is severe and deteriorating… They want Feiran to combine with him as soon as possible…”

Si Chu was on the verge of tears as he continued, “Only after a permanent union can a deeper spiritual connection be established, and Feiran can help my brother rebuild his spiritual landscape…”

The combination of a sentinel and a guide was unique. Once combined, they shared senses and thoughts, and there was no way to separate them except through death. After a permanent union, Ye Feiran would forever be Si Di’s guide.

Si Chu’s mind was now in a state of intense contradiction, torn between his respected elder brother and the guide he had feelings for.

Suddenly, there was a crisp sound as Xiao Nian broke the handle of the ceramic cup he was holding. Expressionless, he looked at the shattered cup on the floor and casually said, “Continue.”

But the sound of the cup shattering made Si Chu startled, snapping him out of his thoughts, and he fell silent.

After he left, Xiao Zhenyun sat in the self-driving car on the way home, feeling dejected. “In such a big guild with so many guides, we can simply find a replacement for the first male lead. Who can refuse to bond with such a cute dog?”

“No, the engagement and union between Si Chu and Ye Feiran is the main storyline. There absolutely cannot be any deviation,” Xiao Nian took out a blueprint of Building A from the Central Specialized Hospital, “Tonight, I must assassinate him.”

Xiao Zhenyun: “…”

While the administrator’s assassination plan had yet to be carried out, there was a sudden turn of events at the hospital. Against all odds, Si Di completely rejected the proposal of the elders to unite him with Ye Feiran.

He said that during the surgery, he unconsciously emitted pheromones in a desperate attempt to attract a guide for union, driven by his instinct for survival. Surprisingly, this desperate act managed to lure an unfamiliar guide. The guide’s spiritual body responded to the call. Si Di thought he would be expelled or met with resistance, but the guide entered his spiritual domain instead, expending all their spiritual power to perform a deep mental grooming for him.

Xiao Zhenyun was about to curse at this meddling guide when he saw a message pop up in the rumor feed:

Si Di hadn’t actually seen the guide in person, but due to the multiple moments of shared feelings during the mental grooming, he saw the spiritual body of this unfamiliar guide—

It was a deer.

Currently, the Si Family was searching for the owner of this deer in order to express their heartfelt gratitude.

Xiao Zhenyun: “…”

It wasn’t what he had imagined, was it?
