Chapter 59 - Jinx

Yera looked at herself in the mirror. She was wearing a bikini because Xander would teach her how to swim in their indoor pool. She never cared about her appearance before but now she was feeling conscious.

She let out a long deep breath and murmured relentlessly, "Tsk… Why did he have to say it…" Xander's words kept on repeating in her head, 'I'm in love with you.'

He confessed a while ago saying he was already in love with her and she didn't respond… More on she remained silent… Why? Simply because she did not know what to say…

Thankfully Xander suddenly changed the topic by asking what was she was cooking.

"Is it even possible?" She muttered as she grabbed her towel. She knew Xander for almost a couple of months only, since that day Bernard died. But then she realized that she and Bernard fell in love with each other in a really quick span of time so it was possible.

'What do you feel?' her inner self asked her. And yet she still could not answer. She was happy because Xander loved her, who would not be? Xander was a good man but she was not ready for a commitment at that point.

After looking at her reflection once more, she went out to walk at the pool where Xander was already waiting. As expected, he greeted her with that charming smile of his followed by a wave of his hand as he said, "Let's start, the water is nice, very warm and relaxing."

Xander waited for her to go down at the stairs of the pool so Yera walked towards him and grabbed the hand he offered. "Hmm so basically you have to first learn how to float your body on the water. Get comfortable with water… Hmm like how you are getting comfortable with me. It's not that hard right? Very much easy I believe..." explained Xander with a wink as he led her toward the shallow end where water could reach Yera's shoulder.

Yera shook her head because obviously she might receive a lot of teasing, knowing how Xander's personality were. Well he was right though that it was not hard to get comfortable with Xander. She was indeed very much comfortable with him now.

"Hmm put your face in the water and blow bubbles. Stand back up and breath normally… just like that, practice until you feel comfortable… That's right," Xander instructed and cheered Yera at the same time as the latter followed his instructions.

"How come you never learn to swim before?" Xander asked. "I'm not fond of swimming pools before. Besides,  grandpa is busy… I have trust issues when I was a kid. I don't know why but I often get into incidents before more of like I'm prone to accidents so I never become active in any outdoor or indoor sports." Yera answered simply.

Xander's brows knitted as he asked, "What kind of accidents?"

"Hmm, like when I was a kid and go for a camp… I was lost and gone for a day." Yera explained as she remembered how she was gone for one whole night searching the wood on her own. Her uncle said he lost her… Well, she did not clearly remember what happened since she was only six by then." Yera narrated.

Xander asked almost all incidents Yera could remember so she told him everything including the various accidents like when she tried doing wall climbing and her rope got loose for some reasons. She was almost caught up in a fire when she was locked inside the school room. There were more incidents and she told Xander about things she remembered.

"I told you… I was like hmm someone with bad luck, a jinx. I also think that I bring that bad luck to people near me…" she murmured with a low voice because it was true… Her parents died in a plane crash, Chief Doctor Song died, her grandfather died and then Bernard too… It seemed to her that people she loved and cared for, always met an unfortunate luck.

Xander was in deep thought and was interrupted when Yera said, "I'm ready, let's go deeper…"

He looked at her and replied, "Oh okay… hold onto me… Let's move in the deeper part then. You must learn how to float next." Yera did as Xander asked and encircled her arms to his neck. To her surprise, Xander gave her a peck kiss on the lips as he said, "You are not a jinx darling. Don't think like that. Oh well, I'm the man with the best of luck so you just need to  stay with me, that's the best solution..."

Then Xander pulled her closer for a passionate kiss as he murmured, "Nothing comes free nowadays… Kisses is a prepayment darling both for the lesson and luck so don't collide those eyebrows."

He was grinning wide that Yera wanted to smack his head but he was too handsome to get smack so she just ignored his teasing and focussed into learning. After a few seconds, Yera could finally float and she was astonished. She smiled unconsciously as she maintains herself to float on the water without her grabbing Xander's hands.

"Hmmm this is not good… You learn so fast. How can I charge you bigtime." Xander snorted, seeing how easy Yera adjusted. He grabbed the kickboard Yera could use for a lap in swimming.

Xander watched Yera in awe. She did the lap using the kickboard and in just a few more tries, she bravely did a lap without the kickboard. Xander stayed near her and followed her as she moved.

"Wow you really learn fast I hope you learn to love me real fast too…" he unconsciously mumbled and Yera heard it. Her concentration broke disorienting her swimming, causing her  to lose control. She panicked as she tried to float hard.

Xander was fast and caught her. Yera tightly clung onto her. "Shh, why are you panicking, I'm just beside you. I will never leave your side." He whispered as he calmed Yera who looked at him with crumpled face as she complained, "You really talk too much for a man…"

Xander laughed and gave her another peck and this time it was on her nose as he countered, "and you darling… talk less for a woman…"
