Chapter 2

In that instant, the entire lobby was shrouded in deathly silence.

Everyone was staring at the slightly scrawny young man with their mouths hanging open.

“Dafuq, are they filming a movie?”

“What the hell is this demon?”

“M-M-Murder!”

The pretty young receptionists were so scared that they hid behind the counter. The way they saw it, those two guards from the Magnificent Group were terrifying enough to begin with, but now this young man who looked like he had come here from a thrift store was even more terrifying!

The problem was that they had not even seen him attack!

Ye Chen glanced at the two unconscious guards and shook his head exasperatedly. He then strode up to the waiting area in the lobby and sat his behind on the sofa, even picking up a magazine and reading it nonchalantly.

“Oh yeah, do you know when Xia Ruoxue might be coming down?” Ye Chen put down the magazine and suddenly looked at the men in suits and leather shoes sitting next to him.

The businessmen who had been waiting for Xia Ruoxue for a deal negotiation stood up abruptly and ran out of the building.

They did not want to die!

“Hey, I didn’t hurt you, so did ya have to react like that? Whatever, I’ll just wait a while longer.” Ye Chen shook his head and continued to read the magazine in his hands.

The Magnificent Group’s security team found out about this immediately and reacted quickly, sending more than a dozen guards over in an instant.

The dozen or so guards were all armed to the teeth, with riot shields in their left hands and electric batons in their right. They frowned deeply as they approached Ye Chen.

The head of the security team, Xu Qiang, had also arrived in time. Glancing at the glass outside and the injured guards, he frowned deeply and walked up to Ye Chen.

Xu Qiang was a Special Forces veteran, which meant he was no pushover. Even so, when he saw Ye Chen, he instinctively felt the hint of a threat.

Ye Chen looked up and glanced at Xu Qiang, saying mildly, “You’re the boss of those two guys over there, right? Do you still not understand the situation? I just wanna sit here and wait for someone.”

Xu Qiang’s heart skipped a beat. He knew what those two guards were like, too. They had always shown off their borrowed swagger, but it seemed they had hit a dead end today.

Still, how should he handle this young man before him? Was the latter acting so fearless because he had a contact in the group?

Xu Qiang softened his tone slightly and asked, “May I know who you’re waiting for, sir? I can pass the word for you.”

Ye Chen looked visibly happier as he said hurriedly, “I want to meet Xia Ruoxue.”

In an instant, Xu Qiang’s expression changed drastically. He could have put in a word if it was anyone else, but Xia Ruoxue was a different story!

She was the Magnificent Group’s president and CEO, and the heiress to Jiangnan Province’s top dogs, the Xia family. She was the leader of the Three Flowers! That was not someone just anyone could meet!

Besides, Xia Ruoxue mentioned that she would not meet anyone without an appointment!

In a way, this young man was very dangerous! They could not let him meet President Xia, no matter what!

“Sorry, sir, but President Xia isn’t around today. If you need to tell her something, you can give me your contact details and I’ll pass it on for you,” Xu Qian said.

Ye Chen knew perfectly well that Xia Ruoxue was upstairs. He had caused such a scene just to lure her out, so he would not be content with having Xu Qiang pass on a message.

“I’m free in the afternoon anyway, so I’ll just wait here. Or are you saying the Magnificent Group can’t even lend me a seat?”

The woman had long and luscious black hair that reached her waist, and her figure was perfectly beautiful. Her white chiffon top matched her knee-length skirt, making her look as unapproachable as a goddess.

The woman’s appearance stole everyone’s attention in an instant! That was because no one in the entire Magnificent Group could compare to her in beauty, aside from Xia Ruoxue.

Xu Qiang’s face reddened slightly as well, and he bowed his head, saying respectfully, “Director Sun.”

Sun Yi did not reply, her gaze fixed on Ye Chen.

There was both surprise and shock in her eyes.

By then, every corporation in River City, large and small, had joined forces to swallow up the Heavenly Justice Group his father had single-handedly founded.

Back then, his family of three did not even have a headstone to their name!

It was as though that man’s influence hung heavy over everything.

Only one person was an exception, and that was his junior high classmate, Sun Yi!

Ignoring her family’s protests, Sun Yi had gone to River City No. 1 Morgue and claimed the Ye couple’s bodies, personally taking them to the crematorium to be cremated before personally erecting gravestones for all three of them on Divine Stone Hill.

With that, Sun Yi even patted Xu Qiang’s shoulder and said, “Leave him be, Captain Xu. If he wishes to wait here, then let him.”
