Chapter 416 - A Gift To Remember

Ashley realized the situation and nudged her husband to get his attention.

Tanaga leans towards his wife, "what is it, honey?" Curiosity is showing in his eyes.

Ashley pulled him closer and whispered. "We don't have a gift for Tanaka. What are we going to do?"

Tanaga facepalm himself while thinking about what to do. When he couldn't think of anything, he decided just to make the best of the situation. He spoke to get his brother's attention.

"Brother, an apology that we didn't have anything for you. We didn't know that you were coming. However, since we are twins, I don't mind sharing mine with you. This is from my wife so that she wouldn't mind." He then handed a box to Tanaka before turning his attention to Ashley.

"Right, honey?"

Ashley only nodded. It's a good thing that she didn't buy something too personal. It's a generic gift that could be shared with any man. It's a pair of cup links.

"No, no, no! It's alright. I understand it was me who should apologize. I didn't realize that you guys celebrate in the traditional way of exchanging gifts. I also was not able to bring Christmas presents for everyone. Actually… Wait a moment."

He then rushed outside, and a moment later, when he came back, he was carrying paper bags after paper bags.

"I got this from the duty-free at the airport as I was leaving Japan. I hope you all like it." He then began handing it over to everyone.

Fely and Jessie were hesitant to accept the gifts at first, but with Tanaka's wide grin plastered on his face, visibly showing the happiness he feels, the couple couldn't deny him. Both smiled and thanked him graciously. For the Gusman brothers, he gave them the brandy to share with each other.

He then handed a small rectangular box to grandma Hanada. It looks like a piece of jewelry, more like a box used for a necklace.

"Grandma, I hope you like it. I know you have many of these that are more valuable than the one I got, but this is from the bottom of my heart." He said with sincerity, and his eyes showed full of love for the older woman.

The rest of the items he brought were given to Ashley and Tanaga. There were some toys for the twins, exceptional chocolates, and mochi, among other delicacies Japan offers.

Once he was done handing over the gifts, he finally accepted the gift Tanaga had given to him. Even though it was a gift from his wife, he was willing to share it with him, and with that, he would accept it wholeheartedly.

Grandmother Hanada called Harumi to come and help her go to her room. A minute later, Harumi came running from the kitchen. She quickly went to the older woman's side and helped her get up from the sofa to her wheelchair.

"Excuse me for a moment," she said to no one in particular before leaving to go to her room.

When she came back a moment later, she had a box on her lap and waived Tanaka to go over. Tanaka swiftly went towards the older woman and kneel on the floor, so he was face to face.

Grandma Hanada handed him the box.

"I was going to give it to you at a later date when we see each other again. Now that you are here is as good a time as any." She said after handing him the box.

Everyone was thrilled to know what Tanaka received from grandma Hanada. Meanwhile, Tanaga was looking at the box that he had received from his grandmother. It's identical to the one Tanaka received. He's now curious as to what it is that grandma Hanada had given them.Find authorized novels in , faster updates, better experience, Please click #'s-contracted-wife-%5Benglish%5D_13713194705932805/a-gift-to-remember_51638450671118024 for visiting.

"Tanaka, go ahead and open it." Compel grandma Hanada while looking at him lovingly.

Tanaka hesitated for a moment, seeing that Tanaga had to say something.

"Bro, since it seems we received the same thing, why not open it at the same time."

Tanaka smiled sheepishly before nodding and at the same time untied the bow that was tied up on the box. Tanaga did the same thing...

Everyone gasped when they saw what was inside. It's an identical necklace with a square locket hanging in the middle. There's an initial engraved on both of them. However, when they looked at it, they saw that it's precisely the same. The engraved initials were 'THJ.'

They all looked at each other confused.

*Hahaha, hahaha!*

Grandma Hanada's laughter was loud enough for everyone in the kitchen to hear. They all got curious and peeked through the sliding door.

"Why don't the both of you open the locket and look inside." The older woman coaxes them, grinning from ear to ear.

When Tanaga opened the locket, he saw the twins' picture on one side and a picture of him and Ashley on the other side. He smiled so sweet before coming forward to give his grandmother a tight embrace.

"Thank you, grandma! It's the best gift ever..." He whispered, so his wife didn't hear it and hurt her feelings.

When Tanaka opened his locket, he saw a family picture of grandma Hanada on the left side. There was grandma Hanada, grandpa Hanada, and their mother when she was still young. On the right side, there was a picture of him and Tanaga when they were still young before they disappeared.

He did exactly the same as Tanaga; he came towards them and also kneeled next to Tanaga and gave the older woman a tight embrace. "I love you, grandma! Thank you!" He said it out loud for everyone to hear.

Everyone claps their hands and cheers...

Tanaga got up and quickly let everyone see, and Ashley was overwhelmed, and tears of happiness began to spill on her beautiful face. She glanced at the older woman and said something without a word coming out of her mouth.

"Thank you, grandma. I love you!" She then made a sign of a heart shape and put it close to her heart.

The older woman only waived her hands and smiled sweetly at her granddaughter-in-law.

Soon everyone excitedly began opening their gifts, and all were recorded for the twins so they could see them when they were old enough to watch.

After a while, the Gusman brothers decided to go out and check out the City of Houston. Since they were not far away from the outlet mall, Arnel and Arnold decided to take their three older brothers out to shop for gifts to give away when they return to the Philippines.

When Fely heard it, she quickly stopped her husband from tagging along and asked him to accompany her to Hong Kong Market to shop for what she's going to prepare for lunch.

"Can't I go with the boys? Must I go with you to the market? You can take one of the maids with you, you know." Jessie pleaded with puppy eyes.

Fely gave him a meaningful look before turning around to go to and get ready. There was nothing Jessie could do but follow like a puppy with his head down.

*Hahaha! Hahaha! Hahaha!*

Laughter rings out in the living room as the Gusman leaves to do their things...
