Chapter 365 - Making A New Will

Naomi was making a scene when Ashley and Tanaka had arrived at the ICU department. Her screaming was so loud that Ashley and Tanaka heard it from across the ICU. Yet the head nurse wouldn't budge and didn't let her inside grandma Hanada's room.

When she saw Ashley and Tanaka arrived, she turned her attention to them and began ranting.

"You! Come here and tell them who I am! I demand you to do it immediately! Tell them to let me in so I can speak with my mother!" She shouted to Ashley, who was approaching the ICU.

Tanaka's brow rose, and he had a scowl plastered across his face as he approached his mother. As soon as he was near, "Mother! What is the meaning of this? Please calm down. You're making an embarrassment of yourself in front of the entire ICU!" He told his mother.

He then turned his attention to Ashley.

"Ashley, you go right ahead and see grandma Hanada. Don't mind my mother; she's not in her right mind right now, especially since both her mother and son aren't in the best condition. Right, mother?" He asked, glaring fiercely at Naomi, who simply rolled her eyes.

Ashley had met the head nurse and asked her for directions to grandma Hanada's room.

"Hi ma'am, could you point out where Ms. Hanada's room is? I'm Ashley Gusman. the person she wants to talk to." Ashley introduced herself.

When the head nurse heard what Ashley said, she breathed a sigh of pure relief and curtly nodded. She gestured to the changing room.

"Yes, you were just the person we were looking for. Right this way, follow me. You'll have to change into some scrubs, but afterward, I'll take you to your grandmother-in-law," the head nurse offered, secretly smiling to herself as she was more than ecstatic to be able to escape this situation.

She was finally able to leave the arrogant woman who was making too much of a fuss just because she wasn't able to see her mother, making an embarrassment in the process and disturbing the other patients in the hospital.

She hoped that Ashley could've maybe coaxed her mother-in-law into calming down. If not, she would've had to have called the security guards and forcefully dragged that witch of a woman outside the hospital.

Ashley smiled and thanked the nurse. "Thank you, lead the way."

She walked past Naomi, and the head nurse's face was priceless. Ashley didn't ask her mother-in-law to calm down. It even seemed like their relationship was quite horrible.

Naomi glared daggers at Ashley, who ignored her cold glare.

Heck, if glares could've killed, she would've been dead a long time ago.

The head nurse first took Ashley to a room and gave her some scrubs to change into, because grandma Hanada's condition was also affected by the cleanliness of those around her, so Ashley had to follow certain precautions, even if she just wanted to talk to her for a little while.

The head nurse waited outside the door while Ashley got dressed as quickly as possible.

After a while, Ashley came out wearing disposable scrubs complete with shoe covers, gloves, and a mask. Wearing all of this ensured that she was clean enough to see grandma Hanada, and was also used as a precaution because they needed to make sure there were no bacteria on the a.d.u.l.t as grandma Hanada's condition was even more critical and getting worse by every second spent.

When the head nurse saw that Ashley was done changing, she smiled at him before, "This way, ma'am," her hand gesturing right at grandma Hanada's ward while also making way for Ashley.

Only moments later, they reached the room where she was staying. The head nurse opened the door, and Ashley went clambering in. But before she left to give them some privacy, she also reminded Ashley about something.

"Ma'am, if you would, try not to take too long. There are still a lot of tests and medications that we need to give her to determine whether or not she requires another heart surgery," the head nurse reminded her.

Ashley nodded, taking a mental note of that, and the head nurse finally closed the door, giving grandma Hanada and Ashley privacy.

When the older woman heard the door close, her eyes immediately fluttered open, and she looked to see Ashley standing near her. She immediately raised both her hands as an invitation for Ashley to come and hug her.

When Ashley saw grandma Hanada in her current condition, tears began to gather in her eyes, and she tried her best not to cry, even though her heart ached with pity for the older woman. She quickly approached the older woman before hugging her.

"Grandma, I missed you."

The tears she was holding back couldn't withstand it any longer, and Ashley started sobbing. Her tears flowed as she hugged grandma Hanada tightly.

Grandma Hanada heard her sobs, and because she already had such a hard time speaking, the only thing she could do for Ashley was to return her hug and hug her even tighter.

She managed, "Oh my beautiful girl, you're finally here. We can finally talk. I was incredibly worried that you wouldn't be able to catch up with me before the Lord's going to take me," the older woman joked while laughing.

This small act lightened Ashley's heart. She gave grandma Hanada a sad smile. Now was finally the time to talk.

Ashley pulled a chair and placed it near grandma Hanada's bed and sat down.

She took grandma Hanada's hand in hers and was ready to listen to whatever the older woman wanted to say to her.

After half an hour of heart-to-heart talks and chats, it was time for Dr. Swan to check on grandma Hanada, leaving Ashley nothing to do but return to the waiting room of the ICU ward.

When Ashley was leaving and about to close the door, grandma Hanada suddenly stopped her...

"Ashley! I forgot one thing. Tell Harumi that my lawyer is to come here as soon as possible. I don't care if he's currently on the other side of the world. He needs to come here. Do you understand?" Grandma Hanada asked.

Ashley nodded first before answering, "Yes. Don't worry, grandma. I'll inform Harumi immediately as soon as we meet grandma. Oh, and one more thing, why haven't you ever mentioned Tanaga had a twin?" Ashley asked, not in a hurry whatsoever.

"Ashley, don't think about them, I'll answer that question later. But as of now, I need to speak with my lawyer, so Dr. Swan can do what he has to do," Grandma Hanada ordered as she raised her hand with her remaining strength and gestured at Ashley to leave the room.

Grandma Hanada just finished her tests. Naomi and Tanaka were gone, and their current whereabouts were unknown.

The head nurse had threatened to evict them and ban her from seeing both her mother and son ever again if Naomi didn't abide calmly and didn't calm down...
