Chapter 263 - He's In A Coma

Tiny continued what he was saying, with all eyes fixed on him.

"As I was saying, the man was COO Koji Hanada. I do not know why he is here, and if he knows what's happening in Japan.

"Another thing is that he didn't know about you, Sir Jones and…." Tiny didn't continue as he couldn't remember if Ashley had told her family about her pregnancy.

The elder brothers of Ashley looked at each other while scratching their heads, confused at the situation. They also couldn't ask who's Koji Hanada was since their mother was glaring at them.

Ashley was about to speak when Inday entered the room, informing the family that lunch was ready. Ashley decided to continue their talk while eating.

"How about this – let's just continue our talk there and eat first. My stomach is growling, and I am starting to feel dizzy because of my hunger," she light-heartedly said to her family, in an attempt to ease their nervousness.

They listened to her, and one by one, they proceeded to the dining room to eat lunch…

Meanwhile, back in Japan:

Grandma Hanada was temporarily resting in a vacant room while waiting. Because of her age and illness, she couldn't take the exhaustion, and she needed to rest.

"Jeff! Thank you very much for your help. I know you won't let my grandson down, no matter what happens. Can I rest first, before I head out first?" Grandma Hanada said weakly from her exhaustion.

"Sure, Chairwoman. Don't worry, I will take care of everything," Jeff respectfully answered to the older lady.

Tanaga's long operation had finally finished. Since Tanaga wore a bulletproof vest, scratches and bruises were the only injuries on his body. However, as he had no protection on his head, it was one of the most heavily damaged parts. That's why the operation took a lot of time.

There was internal bleeding in his brain that needed to be removed. And a few parts of the brain were affected after the operation. Because of this, he was put into a coma.

"So, you mean there is a chance he will never wake up again? And if he were to wake up, we don't know if he will return to normal, and there is even a possibility of him reverting to a child-like state?!" Jeff asked the doctor who operated Tanaga.

He could not believe that even though they had saved his dear friend from the verge of death, he would live the rest of his life in either a vegetative state or become like a child. What kind of punishment befell his friend?

Jeff knew that this was a big problem for the THJ group; he couldn't stand as a CEO forever. He just accepted it because his friend asked him for help, but he also had his own company to manage. Jeff had come to a standstill.

"Doc, if possible, let me be the one to tell the Chairwoman about this. She might not take this too well. If possible, it might even worsen her condition," Jeff pleaded to the doctor, while his face was painted in anguish.

"It's not a problem for me if that's what you want to do. Actually, it is better if you are the one to give the bad news because I am afraid of what will happen to the old lady." The doctor who operated Tanaga didn't want to tell the bad news to the old lady, because he was afraid that it might not be taken too well and be the cause of a heart attack.

"If you don't need anything from me, let me check the condition of CEO Jones. We need to observe him carefully within the next 24 hours. If he managed to make it after 24 hours, that would mean the operation was a success. All right, I'll go take a look at him now." The doctor left towards Tanaga.

Right after the doctor left, Jeff proceeded to go to Chairwoman Hanada's room. He didn't know how to give the news to the old lady without her collapsing. He was also afraid that the old lady's health would deteriorate at the news and worsen her condition.

Chairwoman Hanada was the last living family member of his dear friend. He lost both of his parents, and the rest were all only distant relatives. If something happened to the old lady, what would happen to Tanaga?

While thinking and preparing how to tell Chairwoman Hanada about Tanaga's situation, he suddenly remembered that Tanaga had a Filipina wife. Because of how quickly things unfolded, he forgot about her that moment.

"Maybe she fled with her bodyguard and was brought to the Philippines. She needs to know where she is to let her know what happened to Tanaga," he whispered to himself.

"Ronald! Ronald! Come here – I have a task for you!" Jeff yelled while preparing to leave.

A few moments later, his assistant Ronald arrived. "Boss, you called?"

"Yes! Look for every piece of information you can find on CEO Jones' wife. Find out where she is hiding right now!"

After Jeff gave his order, he quickly made way for Chairwoman Hanada to inform his dear friend's dire state…

The doctor's and Jeff's thoughts weren't wrong, and the old lady didn't take the news about the sad state about her grandson that lightly.

At first, she was listening while Jeff explained the doctor's diagnosis. But eventually, she held her chest, and Jeff realized that the elder was having problems breathing.

He quickly screamed for help, and the assistant of the old lady hastily entered with two of the elder's bodyguards.

They saw that the old lady was almost running out of breath, and Jeff helped her to his utmost ability. "Chairwoman! Chairwoman Hanada, what is happening?" Jeff's face was cemented with distress for the old lady, who was still holding her own chest and struggling to breathe.

The assistant immediately approached the old lady with a pill, which was then made to be swallowed by the elder.

She was given a glass of water and forced to drink the medication. "Take a deep breath! That's right, slowly and gently," Harumi told her boss.
