Chapter 173: Requirements

"Listen Jay, I will surely tell everything to you but not right now.", was what Res said.

"Eh? Why not now?", Jay asked.

He was eagerly waiting to know about his father and his sister. He knew for sure that his father was dead but he had no idea where his sister was.

Most definitely she was alive, but he wasn't aware where she had gone and what she was exactly trying to do.

"You aren't strong enough to face this yet...", Res said with a low tone.

Res wasn't joking, he was quite serious when he said that Jay wasn't prepared to hear that.

First of all, he was afraid of the powers of the World Guild. Obviously, the people who betrayed his father might have grown way stronger than what David was earlier.

Res was scared of the fact that Jay would end up dying in their hands due to which he hesitated.

He had already seen the magnificent amount of power originating from Jay right in front of his eyes, but that wasn't enough according to him.

Probably he saw Jay as a child since he hadn't even become 20 years old.

"Then what do I need to do in order to earn the right to know the truth?", Jay asked.

"..."

Res had no words to tell him right now. He knew for sure that Jay would go to any extreme in order to know about his family members.

Jay had already started emitting a different aura from earlier. His eyes were dead serious as if he wanted to hear the reasons right away.

"Well, first of all you have to undergo the Hunter Rank Re-evaluation..."

"After that you have to clear or help clear at least Five S+ rank dungeons..."

"Only after you do these will I even tell you about it...", Res said calmly.

"Huh...?", when Jay heard all those things, he had decided to complete them as soon as possible.

But that was not as easy as he thought. Strong he may be, but it was not enough to clear the S+ rank dungeons that were present in the world.

In total, only eight S+ rank dungeons were present in the world out of which two were already conquered and now he was being asked to conquer five more.

He saw this as an opportunity of finding his sister and knowing about what exactly had happened to his father.

'Sigh, I might have wanted him to be way too stronger but whatever I said was too ridiculous...', Res realized.

'He might even end up dying in the S+ rank dungeons...', he got a weird chill down his spine.

Of course he was able to tell that because he himself had been in such a near life death situations in a dungeon that was ranked as S+.

Thankfully, it was the same dungeon which the world rankers had joined and thanks to their luck, they somehow managed to survive and clear it.

But in reality, no power in the world could be able to clear those dungeons or at least the organizations are finding such strong and potentially talented individuals who would agree to go inside such dungeons.

Since no one in the world could do that, even the world's strongest guild failed in it. In reality, they never once tried with their best rankers sine they couldn't afford to lose anyone.

But after hearing that and thinking a bit, Res had concluded that if Jay were to be able to clear all the S+ or at least even a single S+ dungeon, then probably he would be able to defeat all those crooked members.

"Haha, forget it Jay, I was just kidding..."

"I'll give you some other... task?", Res looked here and there and found no one near him.

"Jay...?", he turned his gazes in all direction but Jay was nowhere to be found.

"Did he leave right after I said that?", he realized hat he had done.

He had basically pushed Jay to an edge and forced him to think about something which even most of the higher ranking hunters wouldn't imagine.

"Damn..."

He regretted because this could really lead to his death.

'Now where do I find him?', Jay had vanished without leaving any clue.

Res couldn't even follow his mana. He couldn't even feel his presence from any nearby area.

"..."

"Yes!"

"The rank re-evaluation..."

"I can meet him there!"

While thinking this, he went back to his own room via the portal after finally deciding what to do next.

MEANWHILE...

'Ding'

[ You have used the skill Teleportation ]

[ You have returned to the Sky Dungeon ]

The sky dungeon was just above the place where they were standing earlier. Even now it was present at the same place instead of actually vanishing.

Probably, it appeared again. Of course, that was because Jay was the owner of the dungeon and thus it couldn't possibly disappear even when a owner was already present.

Since it was quite close by, Jay was able to use the teleportation skill to enter it. Also, when he entered a welcoming notification popped up. It was as if the system had recognized the dungeon as a part of it too after clearing it.

"..."

'Tap Tap Tap'

"You wanted to see this place for the last time right?", Jay asked in a low voice.

"Yes master...", all of a sudden a feminine voice was heard.

It was soft yet powerful. It was soothing at the same time.

Jay had the staff in his hand which was shinning with bright red light. Earlier, a message had popped regarding the extraction of the ancient soul.

Jay had declined it thinking that it was from the staff, but now that he saw it and felt it he could clearly say that the soul had consciousness of her own.

Of course, the memories of past lingered despite how long the staff had been waiting.

It was the same for the other nine generals who laid in wait for their lord, Jay, to come and give a body.

Also, they were waiting to get scolded because they didn't help him in the war that had happened earlier just because they hadn't received any direct orders from Jay.

"Is there something special here...?", Jay asked to the staff.

"No... it's not that special..."

"But... I just wanted to see the place where I was trapped for more than 1000 years."

Of course, she wasn't active all this time due to which the time passing for her was way different than what was happening in the actual world.

The comparison that she gave about a mere thousand years were too less. In fact, it could have easily been ten thousand years or even more.

"I see..."

"Well anyway, thanks for lending me your strength earlier.", Jay thanked her.

It was thanks to the power of the staff that he was able to protect all and chase away the sorcerer. If it wasn't for the staff, he and everyone in the vicinity would have been reduced to ashes by now.

"I am unworthy of such praise master...", Veronica said.

"Hmm, no! What you did was indeed something that helped me when I needed the most."

"So I want to give you a reward, would you accept it?", Jay asked.

Who the heck was Jay to give a reward to an ancient soul such a Veronica who had served the true Dark Overlord!? Perhaps, after all this time, he had finally started to act as a boss and maybe that's why he said such a thing.

But he himself was unsure in the first place about the gift. He didn't even know what he could possibly give a soul.

"I..."

"I am happy beyond my imagination!"

"I will gracefully accept it master...", she said.

"..."

'Why should I even give!?', he was sweating profusely.

Of course, he never thought it before hand and even now, with the 185 useless IQ of his, he couldn't think of anything that could be gifted to a soul.

"Master...?", and Veronica was waiting for Jay to respond.

Keeping someone in wait after telling them that you are going to wait would be too rude and it would seem as if you wanted them to beg.

It was quite a similar situation and Jay was trapped. He was thinking of the best thing that he could give or at least something that he could give to Veronica.

'Wait...'

'Why don't I extract her soul and give her an independent body!?'

"..."

To be continued...
