Chapter 203 - He's here!

Susan and Mike climb the stairs toward the 3rd floor of the building where the multi-purpose hall was located.

They reached the top of the stairs and looked at the children sitting on the chairs.

That was also the time that Alex was looking at that side of the stairs and saw Mike standing beside a middle-aged woman, looking at the children.

His eyes widen instantly!

He whispered at his sister's ears. "Mike is here, look near the stairs!"

Allison looked at the location of the stairs and saw Mike!

She immediately stood up and walked towards Caroline who is sitting alone on the chair since Greg was relieving himself in the restroom, she grabbed Caroline's hand and whispered in her ears. "Come with me! Your husband, Mike is here! Don't turn around! Walked beside me and never looked back!"

The startled Caroline immediately obeyed Allison's command, her heart was beating faster inside her rib cage.

The two women walked briskly towards the other exit located on the north side of the multi-purpose hall. They went down the stairs without stopping and looking over their shoulders.

They proceed walking to the path leading to the parking lot and get inside the car.

Allison and Caroline looked at each other in the eyes.

"Just stay here and I'll get Greg, I will bring you back to Alex's house," said Allison.

"O-okay," Caroline can only utter a short reply. Her body was trembling hard. 'Whew, that was close!' she thought to herself.

Allison exited the car and sauntered back towards the main building.

Caroline was left alone inside the car, body shaking in shock.

How did Mike appear in the orphanage?

What's going on?

Of all places?

She was already shivering in fright, fearing that if Allison didn't alert her right away, today, her shameful secrets will be revealed in front of many people.

Caroline looked at her trembling hands, goodness, they won't stop shaking!

"I want to get out of here!" she said panicking.

Where is Allison?

Where is the key to the car, she will drive it herself!

She was looking for the key everywhere, then she realized that it's Allison's car and she has the key!

So stupid of her!

Since she can't drive the car, she might as well calm herself down.

She inhales and inhale air in her lungs and repeated the process for a few minutes until she was able to infuse calmness in her mind.

Back in the multi-purpose hall.

Allison went to Sister Carmen's side and whispered to her that she will go home now because there's an emergency in the house. The nun nods her head in understanding.

Allison glanced at Sister Naomi, Alex, Susan, and Mike, they were having a lively conversation. She decided not to intrude.

She knew Susan and Mike because of their photographs when she hired an investigator to know everything about them, that was when she was still planning to kill Mike. That was before.

She walked to Greg's side and whispered in his ear. "Caroline is not feeling well, she's in my car waiting for you, wanting to go home."

"Okay, let's go home now," Greg replied. "How about our brother, Alex?" he asked.

"Let him be, he seems to know those people that he was talking to," answered Allison.

They quietly sauntered towards the exit on the north side and went downstairs.

They reached the car and boarded it.

Allison inserted the key, started the engine, and navigated the car out of the parking lot.

A few minutes later, the vehicle was already moving out of the gate and traveling back to the busy highway, going home.

Suddenly, Greg's phone was ringing...

Greg looked at the caller, it's his brother Alex.

"Hello bro..."

"Is Caroline with you?" asked Alex.

"Yes, we're going home 'coz Caroline is not feeling well," Greg answered.

"Okay, who's driving?"

"It's sister Allison," Greg replied.

"Alright, I'm going home anytime soon. See you later," Alex said and ended the call.

Greg put his phone inside the pocket of his jacket and looked at Caroline. "Are you okay?" he asked her worriedly.

Caroline nodded her head, wearing a calm expression on her face. "I feel better now," she replied.

They traveled in silence.

Half an hour later, they finally reached their destination.

After getting out of the car. "I will go upstairs now, guys. I want to rest for a few minutes," Caroline said.

"Okay, rest well," Greg said.

Caroline and Allison looked and nodded at each other conspiratorially.

Greg and Caroline climbed the stairs and retired to their room while Allison was left sitting on the sofa in the living room, hesitating if she will call her brother or not?

Or she will just wait for him coming home?

She stared at her phone that she's holding in her hand. She was thoroughly surprised when Mike and Susan appeared in the orphanage. She did not expect that! Since when they become a supporter of the orphanage?

When...?

Then she remembered that Sister Naomi, the head of the nun running the orphanage informed her that the orphanage has gained two more new patrons last month. She did not ask for the name of the new patrons because she's not interested.

Out of the two new patrons, one of them might be Susan the mother of Mike. She will call Sister Naomi tomorrow and asked if Susan was one of the new patrons of the orphanage, 'coz if she was right, then she can no longer bring Caroline and Greg to the orphanage.

Can't bear the suspense, she placed a call to Alex.

The phone rings for a few seconds...

"Bro, where are you? answer me!" she was getting impatient.

Finally, she heard Alex's voice on the line.

"Sis, why are you calling me?" Alex asked.

"Are you still there... at the orphanage?"

"Yes, I'm talking to Mike...I excuse myself for a few minutes. I'm here near the stairs."

"Huh? Why are you talking to him?"

"We've met somewhere before..."

"Ah, okay. Are you going home now?"

"Later...I and Mike are talking about business. I will come home later. Bye," said Alex.

"Bye..." replied Allison.

She put her phone in her shoulder bag. She looked upstairs, wanting to talk to Caroline.

She climbed the stairs and knocked at the door of Caroline's bedroom.

The door was opened by Caroline, not bothering to hide her tear stricken eyes.

Allison entered the bedroom and sat on the edge of the bed eyeing Caroline's red eyes. "Why are you crying?"

"I miss my husband," answered Caroline sadly.

Allison rolled her eyes. "Don't worry you will see your husband once you are done fulfilling the end of our deal," she said. She can't afford to show sympathy to Caroline because her dying brother's happiness matters more to her. If Caroline will leave Greg and go back to her husband, Greg will feel sad again.

Now that Caroline is with her brother, she will make sure that Caroline will stay by Greg's side as long as he's alive.

She studied Caroline's downcast eyes.

She knows that Caroline is not in the mood for a conversation right now, and her presence is not welcome, she will just leave her alone.

She stood up and walked towards the door. "I'm leaving now. From now on, you and Greg can no longer visit the orphanage. I didn't know that Susan and Mike were patrons of the orphanage. If I have known beforehand, then I would not agree with my brother Alex's suggestion to have you come along with him to go to the orphanage. Rest assured, this will never happen again."

Done informing Caroline what's on her mind, Allison exited the room.

After the visitor was gone, Caroline went back to the bed and continue crying her heart out.

She missed her husband so much!

After she learned that Mike was just a few meters away from her, she wanted to see his face badly but Allison rushed her out of the multi-purpose hall.

She was so close to seeing him again!

But if she and her husband manage to see each other, how will she explain to him the reason why she was in the orphanage during that time? And Mike will surely ask her what is her connection with Allison and Alex who are patrons of the orphanage?

How will she explain everything?

Things will get complicated for sure if they see each other face to face.

Part of her felt very bad, she was not able to take a quick glimpse of her husband's face!

Another part of her felt relieved that their path didn't cross in the orphanage.

She was being tormented inside and she's feeling depressed right now. Her tears were rushing out of her eyes like torrents of rain. She buried her face on her pillow and no longer make any attempt to stop the tears from coming out from her eyes.

She thinks that the more she cries the better she will be so that she will be fine after she wakes up tomorrow morning.

Back in the living room.

Allison was pacing the floor back and forth. She was deeply bothered that Alex was talking casually to Mike. What if her brother will have an accidental slip of the tongue and mention Caroline's name?

'Relax, Allison, there are many women who shared that name. Besides, your brother won't reveal to Mike that his wife was hiding in his house, considering that Greg's happiness depended on Caroline's presence,' a small voice whispered in her mind as if trying to convince her not to worry too much.

Allison was able to calm down after the inner voice told her to relax.

Since there's nothing else to do, she might as well go home.

She picked up her shoulder bag, exited the house and boarded her vehicle, going home.

Forty-five minutes later.

Allison arrived at her home and went straight to her bedroom.

After changing her clothes, she sat on the bed and placed a call to her brother.

Her call was answered by Alex after a few seconds.

"Ali...what's wrong? Why you keep calling me?" he asked in an irritated voice.

"I just want to know if you already got home? Are you home?" she inquired.

"No...I'm not in the house."

"Where are you? Are you out of the orphanage?"

"Yes...I'm already outside the orphanage. But I'm with Mike right now."

"Huh? Why are you with Mike? Are you crazy!?" she asked, feeling alarmed.

"Calm down...relax. I know what I'm doing. We're going to talk about business and then go to a bar to chill and catch up with each other's lives," replied Alex.

"Whaaat? You will get drunk...!" Allison blurted out. "And you will accidentally tell mike that Caroline is hiding in your house!" she added. Not liking that her sibling is being hardheaded and getting careless right now.

"Ali, don't worry. As I said, I know what I'm doing. Just trust me on this one," said Alex. "I will talk to you later when I'm already home and don't call me again. I will call you," he said and cut off their conversation.

Allison stared at her phone... gritting her teeth in anger.
