Chapter 143 - In What Way?

Allison went to her brother's house to bring the good news to Greg personally.

She has a talk with Rudy for a few minutes.

"How is my brother?" she inquired.

"He's feeling sad all the time. Although he drinks his medicines on time. But he was losing his appetite, and sometimes he doesn't like eating," explained Rudy.

"Ah, I see. Where is he?" Allison asked.

"In the garden, his favorite part of the house," Rudy answered.

Allison sighed. She sauntered towards the garden area.

She found Greg sitting on the lounge chair inside the gazebo, wearing a brooding expression on his face. His gaze was fixed on the shimmering water of the pool.

She went to his side, sat on the chair beside him, and patted her brother's shoulder affectionately. "How are you, bro?"

Greg shifted his gaze and looked at his sister's face.

"Sis, how about your promise to me!? Why Caroline is not yet by my side!?" he launches into a barrage of complaint in a disgruntled voice.

Allison smiled. "Don't be impatient. She told me that she will visit you one of these days. So get ready..."

After hearing the news, Greg's face broke into a bright smile. "That's fantastic! D-did you successfully abducted her?" he asked because that was the plan they were talking about the last time she visited him.

Allison shook her head. "No. The plan didn't push through. One day she just called me and inform me that she is willing to visit you."

Greg was grinning happily. He just can't believe his luck.

Caroline was now willing to visit him without forcing her? Really—?

She will come in her own accord?

Hard to believe!

"B-but...how this is possible? The last time she's here, she was very angry at me. I still can remember that she shouted in my face, telling me that she won't visit me again," he asked in disbelief.

Allison shrugged. "I don't know what happened to that woman and why she changed her mind. The important thing is she's willing to visit you anytime these days."

Greg continues smiling. He's very much looking forward to seeing Caroline again. Just the thoughts of her made his day complete. "I'm very excited to see her again, sis!"

Allison looks pleased with the happiness plastered on her brother's face. "But there's something I want you to promise me, brother..."

"What is it?" Greg inquired in a serious tone.

"No matter what happened — do not reveal to Caroline that we plan to kidnap her and kill her boyfriend, okay? So that she will keep coming back to her to visit you. If she will know about our evil plan, she will never visit you again. Do you understand me, brother?" Allison said.

Greg nodded his head in understanding. "Alright, I know what you mean. I swear... I won't tell her about our previous plans," he said with determination in his eyes.

Allison smiled. "Good!"

She can't tell her brother yet that Caroline would soon live with him. Just in case, Caroline changes her mind and no longer wants to honor the end of their deal. She doesn't want Greg to build his hopes high and then get disappointed in the end.

"Bro, I want you to eat your meals on time and drink your medicine every day. Take care of your health. You have to do these — if you want to look good in Caroline's eyes, am I right?"

"Yeah..."

"So eat well, okay?"

"Alright Sis," Greg answered jovially.

"Great," Allison murmured. She rose to her feet and bid goodbye to her brother. "I'm going home now. Call me if you need anything," she said.

"Bye Sis. Thanks a lot for bringing me the good news," Greg said gratefully.

Allison patted her brother's shoulder fondly before moving away from the garden.

She comes back into the living room and was about to climb the stairs to get her bag in the guest room and go home.

She saw her brother Alex entering the door. "Hi bro!" she conveyed her greeting.

"Ali, did you just arrive?" Alex asked.

"I'm here — about thirty minutes already. Did you just come home?"

"Yeah. I stayed late in the office to take care of some things. Have you eaten your dinner already?" he asked.

"Not yet. I'm going to eat in my favorite restaurant outside," she answered.

"Okay. Did you talk to Greg?"

"Yeah, we talk a while ago in the garden. I brought him some good news," she replied.

Alex's eyes went round. "Huh? What is the good news?"

Allison smiled. "Caroline is going to visit Greg one of these days," she said excitedly.

Alex stared at his sister's face with disbelief in his eyes. "A-are you sure? Aren't you dreaming? The last time she was here, she made an oath that she will never visit Greg again. I wonder what you did to her to convince her—?"

He was getting suspicious of his sister. Caroline is the kind of woman who won't eat back her words...unless...something happened and he wants to know what exactly happened that made Caroline changed her mind?

Allison grinned triumphantly. She can very well guess what's running inside her brother's head right now. "Huh? I didn't do anything to Caroline. I didn't force her to visit our brother again. She's willing to come here. That's all there is to it, period," she said calmly not trying to be defensive.

Alex's eyes narrowed. He had a growing suspicion regarding her sister's influence on Caroline's visit. If his sister is hiding something from him he will find out soon enough. He will know the truth from Caroline herself, he will interrogate her the moment she steps into the house.

Allison's smirked was plastered on her face. "Aren't you excited that you will see Caroline again, bro?"

"Me—?" Alex pointed his index finger on himself. "Why would I get excited about Caroline's coming?"

"Answer that yourself," Allison shrugged and climbs the stairs. After reaching the top of the stairs. She looked back at her brother below. "Prepare a room for Caroline, she will be staying here in your house for a few months to keep Greg company until his dying days," she explained nonchalantly.

Alex brow's snapped together in confusion. "Are you s-sure?"

Allison grinned. "Right now, I'm 90% sure. Just prepare a room for her."

"You're crazy for dreaming of the impossible, Ali! Caroline won't throw her life just to be with Greg, I'm 200% sure of that!" he said.

Allison gave her brother a lopsided grin. "It's up to you. I don't want to argue with you. You can ask Caroline if she comes here."

After saying her piece, Allison turned around and walked towards the guest room.

A minute later, she emerged from the room holding her shoulder back with her right hand.

Alex was already waiting for his sister at the top of the stairs.

"I'm leaving now, bro! Don't worry, I know you're excited too to see Caroline again. I will let you know if she will inform me of the exact schedule of her visit," Allison said.

Alex still had a hard time believing everything that his sister told him.

"I hope you didn't blackmail Caroline in forcing her to come here," he said sternly. He can't tolerate his sister's madness and scheming.

Allison erupted into peals of laughter. "You're funny, bro!"

She went downstairs and waved goodbye to his brother before exiting the door.

Alex entered his bedroom. He jumped into his bed and buried his head on the soft pillow.

"Caroline is coming! She's coming, oh God, I'm excited to see her again!" he mumbled to himself.

Besides the excitement that he felt for Caroline's impending visit, he was also wondering — why and how on earth Allison was able to convince Caroline to visit Greg again?

That is a big mystery that he wanted to know.

Did his sister Allison threaten or blackmail Caroline? If she did? In what way? It must be huge or else, Caroline will never set foot on his house ever again.

This made him want to see Caroline soon!

Only she... can answer all his questions.

Caroline was the last person he was thinking in his mind before he falls asleep that night.

The next day.

After eating breakfast, Caroline went back upstairs to her bedroom and called Allison on her phone using her new number.

"Hello..."

"Hello Allison, this is me, Caroline. This is my new number," she said.

To avoid being trolled by the unknown text sender, she changed her phone number.

She called Allison to inform her that she's ready to visit Greg. Now that she was destined to serve Greg, she must make the rules and he has to obey her, or else, they will never be able to live in peace under the same house.

Greg must avoid taking advantage of her, if he's willing to make her stay by his side during his remaining days on earth, he must not take advantage of her.

"Caroline...I already added your new number. Why did you call me? Did something come up again?" Allison asked.

"Nothing. I just want to inform you that I'm going to visit Greg tomorrow," Caroline said.

"Wow! That's great! I will inform my brother about your visit," Allison said in a thrilling voice.

"See you tomorrow, Allison. Bye..." Caroline said.

"Bye girl," Allison replied and ended the call at her end.

Caroline looked at her phone and breathed deeply. Now that she had changed her mobile number she can finally enjoy peace of mind and no longer be blackmailed by that phone stalker.

She can focus on her wedding to Mike and at least feel excited about the special occasion. Even though she would be gone after the wedding, she was expecting that Mike will hold on to their marriage vows and would not find another woman to take her place just like what John had done when his wife Catherine disappeared from his life without a trace.
