Chapter 30 - See You Next Week!

That night back in the Infinity Jade tower, Catherine and Caroline engaged in a video call in the messenger after baby Angel had fallen asleep, while John put baby James into sleep in the bed.

Catherine looked at her sister's face in the video, she looks glowing and beautiful, motherhood seems to suit Caroline well.

"Sister, how are you? Oh my, you look pretty as always," Caroline praised her sister.

"You look pretty as well, let me see my niece," she said.

The face of a newborn baby appeared in the video.

Catherine smiled broadly. "Wow, my niece is cute, so adorable!" she gushes.

After a few minutes of admiring the baby, Caroline's face appeared again in the video.

"Does she looks like me?" Caroline asked.

"Um...I can't say 'coz she's too young...but definitely, she has an angelic face!" she commented. "What will you name her?" she asked.

"Hmm, I will name her Cathy," Caroline responded.

"Nice name!" she raved.

"How's baby James? I miss him so much! I also want to see baby Angel!'" Caroline said excitedly.

"Some other time, sis, they were already sleeping, we will video call again if they're awake. You will be here by next week so you will see them finally," she explained.

"Ah, okay, so the church wedding will finally take place next week, I'm excited to attend your big day," Caroline said.

John lay down the sleeping baby James into his crib, then sauntered to his wife's side and kissed her forehead. "I'm going for a swim in the pool..." he said and walk away.

Catherine nods her head and saw her husband exited the door.

"W-was that my brother-in-law... J-John?" Caroline asked.

"Yes..."

Caroline coughs and sighed. "Sis, regarding my sin against you and brother-in-law I'm asking forgiveness. I'm so sorry, I really am. I regretted everything including fantasizing and seducing your husband. I am guilty of everything," she said.

Anger flares up in Catherine's face. "How can you even think of snagging my husband? How could you be so evil and shameless!?" her voice hard and unforgiving.

Caroline drops her gaze out of shame, she can't look her sister in the eyes.

"I'm so sorry, sis, I was just thinking that after you disappear, if you encounter death somewhere and you will never be able to come back in our lives, I was thinking that I could fill that void and become baby James's mother and your husband's wife. I know my plan is evil but at least it won't be another woman taking your place, it's your very own sister who will become the mother of your son and John will forever see you in me since we are identical twins," replied Caroline trying hard to justify her shameful past actions. "But I'm also aware that what I'm thinking and doing during those difficult times is wrong and your husband firmly put me in my place," she said. I'm so sorry..."

There was a heavy silence hanging in the air between them.

Catherine was in deep thoughts while listening to her twin's guilt-tripping. If she indeed died during her captivity, there's a big chance that Caroline and John will grow close to each other and in the long run, her husband might eventually fall in love with her twin sister and marry her, would she consent to it? Can she accept that her sister would continue her happy ever after with her husband on her behalf?

Well, if she died during her captivity she will no longer be able to say or feel anything, so what's the point?

The point is—she's still alive and after knowing her sister's betrayal it hurt so deep and at one point in time, she was considering cutting ties with her sister for good. "Let me get this straight, Caroline...are you still harboring wicked intention towards my husband?" she asked wanting to know the truth.

Caroline shook her head vigorously. "No! After the hell that I'd been through with Joseph, I consider it as God's quick punishment for my evil deeds and l.u.s.tful thoughts towards your husband. Besides, you're still alive and I will never steal your husband under your nose, even though I used to envy you back then for bagging a rich, handsome, loyal and loving husband," Caroline admitted. "Right now, my thoughts are all about wanting to become a good mother to Cathy, that's my main goal in my life right now. I promised you, sis, on behalf of my daughter—I won't touch your husband even with a ten-foot pole," she added.

Catherine breathed in relief. It made her feel better that she and her sister had this no holds barred conversation before the church wedding, it brought out the skeleton in the closet. "I will remember what you said today Caroline, I hope you will stick to your promise and never do stupid things again or else I will disown you as my sister!" she warned her fiercely.

Caroline's face looks glum. "You will see a new Caroline after I come back, sis. I've matured overnight after the death-defying experiences I suffered in Joseph's hands, I promise you I'm no longer a threat to your marriage," she insisted.

Catherine sighed deeply. "Okay, I believe you. And what if you will do it again?" she asked trying to gauge how sincere her sister to her oath.

"I will kill myself for eating my words, I swear!" Caroline declared bravely.

Catherine inhaled and closed her eyes. She will give her sister a benefit of the doubt—not because her statement sounds sincere and convincing but because for the sake of her niece Cathy, she wants the baby to grow surrounded by the love of her relatives and not feel alienated by her and her children when she grows up. Fixing the family members' strained relationship at an early stage is important to live in harmony with one another. "Okay, I will believe you this time, prove to me after you come back that everything you said to me today comes from your heart and you mean it," she said wryly.

"No problem sister, I will stay true to my words," Caroline persisted.

"Okay fine," Catherine yawned, feeling sleepy since it's already 11:00 in the evening. "Let's end this conversation now Caroline because I'm feeling sleepy...let's just chat some other time...give my kiss and hugs to my niece, see you next week!" she said.

"Goodnight, Cath!" Caroline waved goodbye at the camera.

"Sweet dreams!" Catherine responded. Her sister had already deactivated the video call but she was still staring at the screen of her tablet. It's the first time she and her sister were having a heart to heart talk regarding the ghost of the past, their honest conversation somehow freed a heavy burden in her heart, seventy percent of their fractured sibling relationship has been repaired, the remaining thirty percent needs to be fully validated once they finally see each other again, face to face.

And that would be next week!

She power off her tablet, ready to sleep.

John entered the door and walked to her side.

"So how's it going? You and your sister—have talked it over? Have you settled your conflicts?" he asked curiously.

"Yeah...sort of..." she responded shrugging her shoulders.

"That's good! Let's sleep now, wifey," John said.

He lifted her wife gently and carried her body into the bed. Then he turns off the lampshade, he covered their bodies with the blanket...Catherine's voice can be heard laughing and giggling underneath the blanket...John's heavy groaning and panting ensued...accompanied by a barrage of silky m.o.a.ning coming from Catherine's mouth...and the bed was creaking due to their wild e.r.o.t.i.c movement beneath the blanket.

One hour later.

They fell asleep, fully sated and spent.
