Chapter 740 - 740 Spectacular teamwork

740 Spectacular teamwork

The representative of the five noble families frowned. He peeked at the commentator and noticed his focus was on the field and the bears running.

The representative tilted his neck left and right as if his neck was bothering him. His eyes moved to glance at a certain location with a man dressed like a beggar.

Although his ordinary movement did not attract any suspicion, the person looking like a beggar took his action as an order to begin the emergency plan.

In less than a handful of seconds, the bell started to ring. It indicated the five minutes for both sides to prepare was over.

Only a very small percentage of people believed the bell rang before the five minutes passed. Regardless, since the bell rang before the bears entered their opponent’s side, the rules were not broken.

In the royal area, Luciano, Karta, and Vlad noticed the bell was manipulated to ring as they were counting the seconds in their thoughts.

Kazumi wanted to tell Vincent five more seconds remained. She became confused as to why the bell rang much earlier than it should’ve ringed.

[What the?]

[But there should be thirty seconds left! How is it ringing now?]

.....

-What do you mean?-

[I was using my Photographic Memory to know how much time was left. I wanted to count down the last seconds and sound cool, but this strange thing happened...]

Vincent glared at the bears running specifically toward him.

-Does that mean they are not pulling their punches when it comes to manipulation?-

[Hah...]

[The rules say we need to wait until the bell rings to fight, or we will break the rules and get cursed with terrible karma. However, it doesn’t say we need to wait exactly five minutes.]

“So the bastards rang the bell thirty seconds earlier because they did not want to see their uncontrolled bears get cursed for breaking the rules and lose a large fighting advantage. ” Vincent said to let his girls know foul play was at work.

Mimi, the seductive vampire who was interrupted out of her delicious meal, glared at the bell. She had to stop and lick her lips with a pair of shining green eyes burning with bloodlust.

Ester, Lupa, Awa, and obviously Mimi were not keeping track of the time because they had planned for Kazumi to keep track of time in their stead. When the time almost came to begin, Vincent would notify five seconds remained.

Hearing Vincent mention the time to start was manipulated, and their opponents modified to win at all costs angered them.

Mimi was pissed off to have her meal interrupted, but another woman beside her felt more angered than her. The woman in question was none other than the prideful Awa.

The honorable fight Awa believed she was going to partake in was riddled with dishonesty and disgrace. Her pride was attacked at an emotional level. It made her wonder if she should still call some humans who are unredeemable slave traders, as she had always called them.

“Awa and I will run to the center. The rest follow the recent plan. Also, do not forget to whistle for Zero’s support.” Vincent ordered.

Vincent hit both fists together in anticipation of participating in one last fight and having a long well deserved rest afterward.

Vincent moved forward without looking back. He had faith his women were not going to disappoint. He had faith they were not going to betray this expectation.

Vincent saw Lupa pass him. She ran on all fours with great speed as if she was a predator seeking to reach her prey.

Vincent saw Mimi pass him next. She ran while a trail of bloodlust followed her. With her eyes shining green from drinking Vincent mutated blood and a rapier held firmly in her hand, she rushed to take care of to gladiators.

Vincent saw Ester pass him. Wind sigil tattoos illuminated her body, and her body gradually moved faster.

Ester ran with two swords in her hand from the start of the fight. It made Vincent wonder if Ester wanted to perform a blade dance for the old man sitting in the royal area to learn about her opponent and fight accordingly.

‘I guess Ester does not want to reveal to the world she is the fourth sigil mage to become immune to her own mana and spells for now.’ Vincent considered after not knowing what type of training she did during the week.

Lupa, Ester, and Mimi ran around the bears. They became surprised it was as Vincent said.

The large grizzly bears with contorted faces from deep anger, with their sharp revealed teeth, and saliva foaming and dripping from their mouths like rabid bears, ignored their presence.

The five gladiators didn’t run after the bears. Instead, with their weapons drawn and confident smirks on their faces, the five gladiators remained at the corner of their side and patiently waited for the three women to arrive.

“Ladies and gentlemen! Is everyone seeing this? The bears have already marked their target and let three of their opponents pass around them...” The commentator abruptly stopped and focused his gaze on Awa.

“Color me surprised. Ladies and gentlemen, Awa Lionheart’s headless horse just ran into her and exploded into a cloud of smoke upon contact.”

“I can see the dark cloud of smoke is moving as if it has a will of its own. The more the dark cloud dissipates, the more I can see a woman wearing dark armor.”

The commentator was at a loss for words while his lips grinned at what happened next.

Awa moved her hand and attracted what remained of the dark cloud. As it followed the movement of Awa’s arm to her back, a dark cape made of a smoke-like shadow formed.

“L-ladies and gentlemen! Previously we saw Awa Lionheart create a smoking cape. When she threw it away, a headless horse appeared. Now that the headless horse was equipped, the cape returned.”

“Ladies and gentlemen, I am looking forward to what other surprises are in store for us.” The commentator added to hype the audience.

Amie and Lamin looked at their daughter proudly while liking the way the commentator spoke in an excited tone about their daughter.

Such a thing made both parents proud of their daughter. Proud to know she was going to let all the humans know the Dullahan race is filled with strong fighters, and when someone tried to enslave them, they weren’t going to accept such fate without a fight.

Vincent and the dark knight Awa stood beside each other.

“Looks like they want to take a bite off of me.” Vincent casually joked.

“I will not let that happen another time. ” Awa stated while clenching her fists. She didn’t want to see Vincent get his head bitten off again.

Vincent raised his fist shoulder-high. “I will attract their attention while you assault them with your lovely kicks.”

Awa fist-bumped Vincent. “I will not feel proud to use my husband as bait, but I will do as you request. I will do my best not to let you get hurt.”

She smirked from behind the dark helmet and added, “My people need to see their clan leader safe and sound when they return.”

“Hehe.” Vincent chuckled. No matter how much bloodlust was directed at him by the five large grizzly bears, he casually giggled as if he was not feeling intimidated one bit.

Vincent took a runner’s stance. “Come and get me.” He said before bolting forward.

“Ladies and gentlemen. It appears Vincent Lionheart has decided to combat the five familiars by himself. I wonder where his confidence is coming from. To take five familiar head on is not a thing one would do without a speck of hesitation.”

“Hah! He dead.” The representative of the five noble families grunted into the sound-extending gemstone.

Vincent smirked at the last comment he heard. “Experiments are still experiments in the end.” He murmured before whistling.

The audience became confused as to why Vincent whistled. His only support, Awa, remained in the same position she was in before. Furthermore, Ester, Lupa, and Mimi had almost reached the gladiators.

The ground faintly rumbled before small spear-like tendrils emerged from the ground. The two bears at the front lacerated one of the legs while the remaining bears hardened their fur, and the small tendrils did not cause any harm.

Because of the ambush, two bears slowed down, and the remaining three moved out of formation. Regardless of the success, Vincent didn’t have any intention to deal the first strike.

Vincent extended his hand and whistled. A tendril emerged in front of him as if Zero could know Vincent’s location from his footsteps and also know how his body moved.

Vincent leaped on the tendril and used to jump higher in the air. Below him were five bears glaring at him as if was their nemesis.

Vincent’s body started to become dark, as if the sun was obstructed. A dark thread landed on the ground beside the bears.

A moment later, a mighty force landed, causing a cloud of dust to form. The bears, including Vincent, became concealed by the dust in the blink of an eye.

“Ladies and gentlemen! Did you see that? We are seeing spectacular teamwork between two individuals and a plant familiar we underestimated.” The commentator commented with excitement in each and every word he said.

The cloud of dust dissipated when a dark figure pulling another to the sky flew upwards. Not a moment later, dozens upon dozens of earth spikes emerged from the ground.

The five deadly combined spells would’ve impaled anyone near them to a horrible death.
