Liu Guifa was completely dumbfounded.

Xiuyun’s mother was relieved. Her legs felt like jelly as she sat on the stool in one swift motion, holding onto the rim of the table as she panted.

She knew the temperament of her husband the most. He was stubborn and despicable as no one was capable of pulling him back within limitations. Once he had a temper, there wasn’t a single soul in the village who could pacify his rage or go against his wishes.

Thankfully, the Director’s wife was truly something different.

If it weren’t for the Director’s wife’s presence here, her daughter would have been a corpse by now, so it was truly a blessing.

Xiuyun’s mother couldn’t wait to give Lin Lan a kowtow, burn some papers and incense before serving her as a Bodhisattva.

These days, she had sneaked into the ancestral grave and begged Bodhisattva, the Chinese Earth God and other deities. She even prayed to Wong Tai Sin, the Chinese Taoist Deity, but in the end, it was Lin Lan who helped her.

She subconsciously thought in her heart that the Director’s wife was a blessing!

Lin Lan suddenly felt a chill resonate in her soul. Goodness, was I too aggressive?

She looked at Xiuyun’s mother subconsciously and the two made eye contact. Xiuyun’s mother looked as if she was a devout believer, smiling at Lin Lan in a bit of an obsessed way.

If Lin Lan wasn’t wrong, she could even see that the clasped hands of the elder woman were directed at her, looking like she was praying.

Lin Lan, “!!!”

Dong Huaihua said, “Brother Guifa, I think that’s about enough. The matter has already ended up this way and yet, your first approach is to start beating up your daughter. Isn’t that practically giving someone else a chance to shame you? God damn it, you should direct your anger at that asshole. Capture him and hit him all you want; let’s see if he dares to escape again! “

Liu Guifa squatted on the ground, holding onto his hair and not saying a word.

Just now, he was acting so violently with his daughter, but when it comes to the actual offender, he couldn’t do a single thing.

But in a way, it was his daughter that did such a shameless thing. She wasn’t forced by anyone to do it— it was voluntary.

Just then, Xiuyun’s two sister-in-laws came back.

Xiuyun’s second sister-in-law complained in the yard, “How shameful; we’ve practically tarnished our family’s reputation in front of the entire Brigade. How can I go out in the future? I don’t think I can even return to my maternal family anymore.”

Dong Huaihua retorted, “What are you complaining about? Aren’t you a family?”

“So if we’re a family, that gives her the right to ruin our reputation and drag us down a dirt hole? She even took my book to make the checkup. Oh, what sort of sins have I committed to deserve this?” Xiuyun’s second sister-in-law didn’t resolve her hatred.

What a niece. Normally, she looked rather honest, so who would have thought that she did such a thing?

You truly don’t judge a book by its cover— the more honest one appeared to be, the more scary it was if something out of the ordinary were to occur.

Xiuyun’s eldest sister-in-law said, “Stop saying things like that. Normally, aren’t things fine? Now that something has happened, let’s stop dwelling over it and just think of a way to solve this.”

“What sort of plan do you have?” The second sister-in-law spoke with a voice that was full of hatred, almost as if she were the one who had her reputation tarnished.

Xiuyun’s eldest sister-in-law didn’t want to say anything in response to that.

The second sister-in-law added that all they had to catch the pair of offenders as the matter couldn’t and shouldn’t be left alone as it was.
