Chapter 100: “Tom Riddle’s Indirect Help”

Snape’s face showed no emotion, and he walked quickly to the table.

“According to records, the magic power of the Maledictus will penetrate deep into every drop of blood. I have seen the antidote to similar curses. The way they unlock it is to stimulate the magical properties of medicinal materials to expel the magic power of the curse. But the way that the blood curse magic works is completely different. If you use this method to prepare the antidote, it can only be suppressed for a while, and it will cause great harm to the person.”

Dumbledore glanced at the pile of medicinal herbs and said casually, “Severus. Sometimes, getting hurt is a last resort because there is no better way.”

“If you haven’t tried it, how do you know there’s no better way?” Snape retorted.

“We need to try it, and we need your help. If there is no way,” Dumbledore sighed, “We can only solve it this way.”

Snape paused momentarily and said bluntly, “There will be a better way to solve it.”

“That is also my greatest hope.” Dumbledore smiled.

Snape seemed to hope that the antidote would be successful. Sean narrowed his eyes slightly as if he understood something.

Snape took out several bottles of potions, walked to the glass tube containing Nagini’s blood, and gestured to Dumbledore. Dumbledore took out his wand again, and after Snape slowly poured the potion into the glass tube, he clicked his eyes, and Sean saw Dumbledore’s eyes shine through.

However, the results were obviously unsatisfactory. After a few bottles of potion were dropped, either nothing happened to the test tubes, or they boiled violently, and one tube even exploded.

Dumbledore and Snape’s expressions didn’t change in any way. It seemed that they had expected it. After cleaning up the mess, they continued to experiment. Time passed little by little. Sean glanced at his watch. Several hours had passed now, and the progress was not satisfactory.

Dumbledore and Snape kept discussing during the experiment, and Snape would lean over the paper from time to time to record something. Sean couldn’t understand what was happening.

Sean was a little bored and turned his attention to Nagini. She was locked in a cage and obviously felt uncomfortable and bumped into the cage from time to time. However, the cage should have been enchanted, and Nagini’s movements made no sound.

Sean squatted down and looked at Nagini. She opened her mouth and wanted to bite but was blocked by the cage. This chapter's initial release occurred on the n0vell--Bjjn site.

Before Dumbledore could speak, Snape’s sarcastic voice sounded, “It’s a hundred times more complicated than you think. You wouldn’t understand it. You can keep your superficial understanding for later.”

Dumbledore glanced at Snape and said gently to Sean, “It’s more or less like that, but the magic of the curse is too big. We need a big dose for it, but it will cause her body huge damage.”

Sean heard Snape’s breathing quicken.

He touched his nose and said, “Professor, I have an idea.”

Dumbledore looked interested, “Spill with it, Sean. I’m looking forward to it.”

“The blood curse is entangled in every drop of the person’s blood. Maybe we should go for a different approach?” Sean pointed to Nagini, “What if we change her blood?”

Dumbledore raised his eyebrows slightly while Snape let out a snort.

Sean ignored him and continued, “In the Muggle world, there is a whole process of replacing someone’s blood in an operation. Of course, it is a slow process, and the curse may contaminate the new healthy blood. But this is a chance to save her.”

He spread out his hands, “We are wizards, after all.”

Dumbledore thought about it and replied, “There are many ways to keep someone alive, but it is completely unrealistic for us to drain her blood completely. Maybe we can leave the blood that keeps her alive at a minimum and then use the potion.”

Sean went on to say, “The potion removes the blood curse, and it will change into healthy blood. That’s what I think about how we can save her. But I don’t know if it’s feasible.”

Dumbledore’s eyes gradually brightened, “That’s a wonderful idea, Sean. You surprised me. How did you think of it?”

Sean smiled back. He was inspired by Tom Riddle’s knowledge, which includes dark magic called the Blood-Drawing Curse.

Dumbledore looked at Snape, “Severus, Sean’s method has a chance. I’m almost certain. I need your help, and we have to prepare for everything.”

Snape’s face trembled a little. He looked at Sean and wanted to say something, but he turned around in the end. He started to get angry with himself again.
