Shang Xia never thought that he could fight his way out of their trap. There was no chance he could bank on a small sliver of a chance that they would mess up and he would be able to escape.

As such, there was only a single thing he could do. That was to introduce any anomaly into the battle. He would drag them towards the boulder that blocked off the flow of the underground river.

Naturally, Shang Xia’s strong foundations and deep reserves were essential for him to fight all five of them while shifting the battlefield slowly.

Also, he had to thank his lucky stars that Li Tianshou’s plan was to capture him alive. None of them went all out with killing moves. They were also afraid that Shang Xia would turn desperate and focus all of his energy on dragging one of them down with him, resulting in them holding back greatly.

There was also one more thing that allowed Shang Xia to complete his plan successfully. Li Tianshou and the others didn’t remove the Spirit Extermination Gourd after their discovery.

All those factors allowed Shang Xia’s plan to eventually work.

As for his Flow Reconstitution Spear, it had the ability to shift the heaven and earth qi around him, much less the flow of some water underground.

Releasing his sixth move, he freed the underground river and the gourd. The mist released by the two created a thick smokescreen that greatly affected the visibility in the area.

The cultivators of the White Deer Paradise discovered that the same restriction was placed on their divine sense. They couldn’t feel anything greater than five feet from themselves.

When the mist just appeared, they released their divine sense to look for Shang Xia the best they could, but as it extended away from their bodies, their divine sense started to corrode due to the extermination qi in the air.

“Shit!” Li Tianshou barely gathered his thoughts when a scream pierced through the air.

“Junior Brother Yu!” Li Tianshou gasped before giving the others a reminder. “There’s something strange about this mist. Everyone, retreat! We’ll regroup after getting out of this mist!”

Li Tianshou knew that their fighting formation had been broken. With the sudden change in the situation and Junior Brother Yu’s death, Shang Xia gained the advantage.

Staying in the mist and fighting blindly would only benefit Shang Xia. Even with their advantage in numbers, he knew that they would get nowhere if they were to fight him one on one.

Li Tianshou might refuse to believe it, and he might have been mocking Shang Xia the whole time when they were fighting him earlier, but deep down in his heart, he knew that Shang Xia was extraordinarily strong. Even a direct disciple of the White Deer Paradise like himself wasn’t Shang Xia’s match if they had a one-on-one fight.

Since things had progressed up to that point, Li Tianshou couldn’t bother with capturing Shang Xia and completing their mission any longer. He had to protect the lives of his comrades!

The more Li Tianshou thought about it, the more his thoughts fell back into disarray.

Despite his desire to bring his fellow comrades out of the mist, he severely underestimated Shang Xia. With the exception of himself, none of the other disciples of the White Deer Paradise could react when Shang Xia attacked them.

The extermination mist might have suppressed the divine sense of everyone heavily, but the suppression Shang Xia felt was relatively weaker than the rest! When he arrived near the river for the first time and killed Lin Yi, Shang Xia’s divine sense could extend more than ten feet away from himself.

Even though the mist became much thicker, he was still able to forcefully extend his divine sense seven to eight feet away from his body.

With the additional distance he could feel compared to those from the White Deer Paradise, they were basically sitting ducks waiting for him to harvest their lives.

He knew where they were, but they had no idea the god of death had already set his eyes on them!

Utilizing his third move, Flashing Meteor, he killed the person closest to him. With Junior Brother Yu’s miserable cry to warn the others of his miserable fate, the other three tried to run out from the mist.

One unfortunate soul picked the wrong direction. She tried to leave the region covered by the mist but ran in the direction of Shang Xia.

Discovering his new target, Shang Xia locked on to the disciple of the White Deer Paradise before unleashing his fourth move, Void Evasion!

Feeling a sense of danger closing in rapidly, the disciple of the White Deer Paradise twisted her body violently. Not knowing where the attack came from, she could only trust her instinct and tossed a circular shield in that direction.

A burst of light was all she saw before the mist clouded her vision. Discovering her mistake, it was too late for her to retrieve her shield.

She could only use both hands to cover his chest as a huge spear created from the white mist in their surroundings shot at her. Under her shocked gaze, it pierced directly through her body. The fear she felt for the murderous demon in the mist overshadowed her pain, and she released a blood-curdling scream that seemed to sap away all her energy. Eventually, she fell to the ground as her vitality left her.

“Senior Sister Gong!” Another disciple of the White Deer Paradise who was about to leave the region covered by the mist turned her head involuntarily when she heard the scream coming from behind.

Li Tianshou’s voice came from outside the mist and he yelled at the disciple who had stopped running. “Shut up! Get out of the mist before doing anything else!”

Gasping in shock, she recalled what she was doing. She turned around to run, but it was too late. A small vortex of extermination mist formed behind her.

“Too late.” A voice scarier than that of a demon’s rang in her ears.

“No, don’t…” She wanted to continue speaking, but a bolt of lightning and the rumbling of thunder drowned her out.

A bolt of reddish-gold lightning thicker than a man’s forearm appeared in her vision as it tore the thick mist apart before slamming heavily into her back.

She couldn’t even release a cry before she was sent flying. She slammed into the ground several feet away with her life or death unknown.

“Fuckl” Li Tianshou, who ran out of the region surrounded by the mist, stared at his only other junior brother who managed to run out before retrieving something from his sleeves.

“You forced me to do this.” Li Tianshou poured his inner qi into the carving of a white deer he retrieved.

With a loud snap, the white deer carving shattered. A spiritual deer seemed to materialize in the air behind him before leaping into the extermination mist.

“Get over here!” He snapped at Junior Brother Lu who was missing an ear from the battle earlier. As the last remaining member of the five who surrounded Shang Xia, Junior Brother Lu ran over to Li Tianshou before asking in panic, “Senior Brother Li, Senior Sister Gong, and the others…”

Li Tianshou’s expression sank and he felt a strong ache in his heart. He eventually suppressed the pain he felt and he growled, “I used the White Jade Spiritual Deer Carving. That asshole is definitely going to die.”
