Characters in this chapter:

I, I love you1btw I didn’t mention in the previous chapter but he said aishiteru, not daisuki……!?

I was completely flustered from Percival’s unexpected words.

I never thought that the day would come when the serious Percival would tell me that he loves me!

I’m in the middle of my second life, but the only person who has ever told me that they love me is my mother.

But I’m not a child either. I know that Percival’s  love for me is not the same as my mother’s love for me. To me, Percival is my companion and future spouse. We even kiss, so of course he’s a special person.

In the first place, Percival’s love is different from the love of the people who are trying to woo the liquor store’s poster girl. That’s why even if someone suddenly says I love you, I have to mentally prepare to accept it……

I am slowly becoming embarrassed and bashful. I’m sure I look really stupid right now. I was lucky that Percival was hugging me and he couldn’t see my face.

“……Ah, um, uh…anyway, I’ll clean up quickly and come back soon! Don’t worry and wait for me! Oh……I love you too!”

I was too embarrassed to look at Percival’s face, so I transferred to Insania Metus as if I was running away.

A jet-black dragon, blacker than the darkness of night, is moving through the trees, mowing  them down.

Even though they hadn’t been away for that long, the Et Ketra forest was already in a terrible state.

The black flames spewed out by Insania Metus have burnt the forest and thick magical essence was floating in the air. It’s probably only a matter of time before the area is overrun by magical beasts.

“…… This is terrible. Did they escape safely?”

Now, I’m concerned about the safety of the Sternkurst guys I left behind in the forest. However, the Crown Prince deserves what he gets, so there’s no reason for me to worry about him. If they’re lucky, they’ll probably survive, but even if they do, their future won’t be bright.

In any case, I need to quickly defeat the dragon to prevent further damage.

Anyway, we have to quickly defeat the dragon so that the damage doesn’t spread any further.

“Unisus!”

I straddle the back of the summoned Unisus and chase after Insania Metus. The dragon does not move around at random, but occasionally points its snout towards the sky to determine its destination. It is not far from the forest, but the direction the dragon is headed is the capital of Et Ketra. Naturally, there is no way I will let him go.

“Unisus, fly right in front of him.”

Unisus follows my instructions and circles around the dragon’s head.

As a precaution, I applied double barrier magic to Unisus. It wouldn’t be fashionable if we accidentally got hit by black flames.

“Ya, Insania Metus, it’s been 150 years. It’s a shame that you’ve just been resurrected, but this time I’m going to make you disappear forever. You shouldn’t have existed in this world in the first place.”

As if to provoke Insania Mettus, I dropped a few bolts of lightning on his face. Naturally, this is not enough to inflict even a scratch.

The first step is to lure it out to the forest and lead it to the plains, where there are no people. I have to avoid causing as much damage as possible during the extermination.

Insania Metus must have felt annoyed with me flying around in front of it. It took to the provocation more easily than I expected. It opened its big mouth and chased after me, spitting flames.

“Very good, Unisus. Let’s keep going and lure him out to the plains!”

Unisus understood my intentions and flew around with vivid and dexterous movements so that Insania Metus wouldn’t get distracted midway through. Sometimes, he would get close enough to be eaten, only to duck just before he was about to be. Moreover, he seems to be enjoying himself.

I thought Unisus had a cautious personality, but he turned out to be a surprisingly hot-blooded guy. I didn’t know……

Even though I was surprised to see a different side of Unisus, I managed to lure Insania Metus out of the forest and came to the plains.

I carefully checked to see if there were any villages or settlements around. It would be a disaster if they accidentally got caught in the middle.

‘Well then, let’s clean this up quickly.”

I raised my wand and dug a hole at the feet of Insania Metus, who has been chasing after Unisus. It’s a big, deep hole that Insania Metus can easily fit into.

Insania Metus, who was about to devour the Unisus in front of it, rolled down without noticing the hole that suddenly appeared at its feet. A tremor and a roar echoed across the dark plains.

I dug a deep, straight hole like a well so that it wouldn’t be able to climb up easily, but the hole is already starting to collapse because of its huge size and rampage.

I’m glad Insania Metus isn’t a flying dragon. If it could fly all over the place with this destructive power, it would have been quite a pain to defeat it.

“I need to hurry up and finish it up.”

Rocks and stones are poured down on Insania Metus, which is struggling while spitting out flames. When half of its body was buried, Insania Metus slowed down as expected. Even so, it spat out black flames at me from the bottom of the hole.

Its black scales are extremely tough. Naturally, a human-forged sword would not be able to inflict even a scratch. Even 150 years ago, I had a lot of trouble defeating it.

But now I have this tricorn wand and a plan.

Aurora told me that 150 years ago, Insania Metus’ corpse was thrown into a cauldron of fire. That’s when it hit me. If that’s the case, why not just throw it into the cauldron of fire from the beginning? It’s a great idea to be able to exterminate and clean up the aftermath in one go, but unfortunately, I’ve never been to the cauldron on the mountain of fire in this life.

What should I do then? In that case, wouldn’t it be a good idea to make a cauldron of the mountain of fire here? I thought.

I wave my tricorn wand and release an extreme magic into the hole. A powerful swirling blue-white flame lit up the surroundings as if it were midday. The flames are stronger than those of Fortis as expected. With this, I can burn Insania Metus for sure. The Tricorn wand is amazing!

The pale flames swirled in the hole, making it impossible to see Insania Metus. Occasionally, a flaming stone would fly out of the hole, but Unisus dodged it without any danger.

However, no amount of magicians would be able to defeat such a thing. Really, the Crown Prince has revived something extraordinary. Anyway, on what basis did he think he could make this calamity itself obey his will?

His taste in clothes was terrible, and the thoughts of a fool are difficult for ordinary people to understand.

When the flames that shot up like a pillar from the hole subsided, I descended to the ground, which was completely scorched, and after using barrier magic to protect myself from the heat, I peered into the cauldron. The inside was simmering, and Insania Metus was nowhere to be seen. I guess it’s completely burnt out.

“I guess the stew of the Calamity Dragon is ready……”

I look for the dragon’s heart in the cauldron. The Crown Prince says it doesn’t burn up. I’ve got to collect it and dispose of it so that it doesn’t fall into the hands of fools again.

That’s when I leaned over to take a closer look inside the cauldron to see if anything floating around looks like it. Suddenly, the surface of the lava rose, and a repulsive-looking Insania Metus rose to the surface.

Even though its flesh was burnt away and was reduced to bones, its blood-red eyes glared at me and spat out black flames.

“Oops,”

The flames are swept away by the wind before they are wound up, and lightning strikes the dragon’s head.

With its skull crushed, Insania Metus lets out a cry of death as he sinks back into the improvised cauldron of fire. This time, it should have really choked to death. Even so, it must have a lot of willpower to still rise after becoming like that.

As I was admiring it, a lump the size of a pumpkin popped up along with large bubbles.

“That’s it……”

I created a whirlwind, which hoisted the floating lump up and pulled it to the ground.

It rolled to the ground at my feet, a blackish-red lump of stone, and it was emitting an ominous atmosphere.

“But how do I get rid of such a thing? Do I just smash it up?”

After thinking about it for a while, I summoned Crawler to test it out.

“Hey, Crawler. Do you eat this too?”

I asked, and Crawler climbed up on a block of stone and began to eat it with a gurgling sound.

“Oh, you eat it.”

“As expected, it’s Crawler that will eat anything. Even the heart of Insania Metus is eaten without thinking. However, soon after he started eating, Crawler’s body began to glow faintly.

“Crawler?”

When I touched his body with concern, I found that his skin, which was originally pleasant to the touch like goose down, had become even smoother. Stroking it feels like I’m ascending to heaven.

“Uwah……amazing……”

I don’t know what it is, but it seems that eating Insania Metus’ heart has made Crawler feel a bit better. So it’s not all a disaster, but has some good effects. Compared to the bad effects, it’s a very minor impact.

But still, the last of the Calamity Dragon that was said to destroy the continent was Crawler’s snack……but now the Calamity Dragon will never appear again.

“Well, it’s time to clean up and go home.”

After watching Crawler glowing from eating Insania Metus’ heart for a while, I started to backfill the improvised cauldron of the fire mountain. I can’t just leave a big hole in the ground in another country and leave it there.

By the time I had finished cleaning up after the Calamity Dragon, the sky in the east was beginning to whiten. It’s almost dawn.

Although the surroundings are a little scorched, it is almost back to normal. No one would think that there was a big hole here. First of all, I want to go home and have a good night’s sleep. I am really tired.

I returned the satisfied and happy Crawler to the phantom realm and returned to Vanderwall.

It’s probably because I was up all night and moving around. I was suddenly attacked by sleepiness, and as soon as I arrived, I turned over and fell asleep.

……I think I’m forgetting something, but I’m too sleepy to think about it now. Anyway, good night.

melon: sorry for the delay! I didn’t realise there was an update until I saw the update for the next chapter.

I’m also super busy leading up to Christmas cos I’m part of a handbell group that does a lot of Christmas performances. I also got dragged into the orchestra to help with percussions cos they’re shorthanded.

Anyways, the next chapter will also be posted shortly, I just need to proofread it.
