Data.189 – Another Perspective: The Angel and the Nun

From the moment that Necoco dragged Cymba into the hole, a different battle began on the surface…

“Tsk! So you had a backup iron ball…!”

“It’s because my weapon breaks easily!”

Anne put away the spiked iron ball that was destroyed by Apocalypse Melody, and took out a new one from her item box.

Bows, guns and staffs were harder to break, as they did not directly come in contact with the enemy, but it was a different matter with swords, spears and axes, which not only hit enemies, but were likely to come in contact with skills and charge attacks.

Because of this, you could not forget to have a backup handy.

On top of that, Anne’s spiked iron ball…which was called a ‘Star Sphere’ due to its shape, was even more breakable than close-range weapons like swords or spears because of its structure.

The giant ball itself was durable, but the chain was not.

If an attack hit the chain and it was severed, then she would not be able to swing it anymore. And a lot of her skills would become useless.

This meant that she could not allow enemies to get within the circle drawn by the iron ball.

Of course, Anne…sort of understood this.

She couldn’t quite explain it in words, but her body seemed to understand it.

An instinctive player…. That was why she was strong in spite of lacking experience.

On the other hand, Petta was a player that moved after a lot of thought.

The androgynous and cool player often came off as frank and dry, but she just had a personality that made her overthink things. Even in real life.

And the reason for this was Hatake.

As they were old friends, after witnessing the carefree way that Hatake lived for so long, she realized that she had to take the role of the brakes.

In general, Hatake could do whatever he wanted and it was fine. However, it was when he succeeded too much or became nervous that things started to go south.

His luck would turn on him and he would go through a bad streak.

And so Petta would have to pull him out of it.

That’s why she wondered. Was this the right thing for him…

And should she always stick close to his side…

(This nun is strong…! She doesn’t have any experience, so I assumed she was just brought in to fill up an empty slot, but this is bad… And since her first win was luck, and the second was immediate death, we have no information! Surely she is still hiding something…!)

Petta continued to fly with her wings at a low altitude as she dodged Anne’s attacks.

These wings were the result of the combined charge attack, Angel Descent: Trumpetter, and it only lasted for…14 minutes.

It seemed like an incredible ability, but in fact, she could not fly very high and the wings were weak.

If anything this effect was just a bonus, and the main effect was Apocalypse Melody.

In the first place, humans didn’t have wings.

And so it would take some practice to be able to fly well with them after they grew.

Furthermore, if you had to attack and dodge while in the air, perfect control would require more than average amount of effort.

However, Petta was able to do it. She did it in order to support Hatake.

(I received a good buff from Hatake. And so I should have no trouble when it comes to firepower and durability. I just need to defeat her while it still lasts…)

A flying arrow scratched Petta’s leg.

Yes. She was also exposed to the attacks of Kyuji, the archer.

Currently, Hatake was using his skills to stop the arrows, but some of them curved and bounced and got past him.

In spite of shooting them in such strange ways, they still hit their target.

(Damn it…! I saw that he was an impressive player at the scorpio pyramid, but he’s improved since then…! I can’t fight while being targeted by such a monster! We need to defeat the nun and cat quickly so we can focus on him…!)

And so Petta fought a desperate battle against Anne.

She slipped past the swinging iron ball and closed in…!

“Gemini Stars!”

The iron ball was on one end of Anne’s chain.

However, there was also a small, decorative iron ball on the other end…or there should have been.

But when Anne shouted, that iron ball also grew large and spikes appeared.

“Mach Star!”

As the iron ball shot towards her, Petta twisted her body in an attempt to dodge it.

But even if she was hit, she could not back down now…!

In the end, Petta lost her remaining right leg, but she managed to survive!

“I got you…! Melodius the Ripper!”

She blew into her trumpet and swiftly moved her head from side to side.

The invisible sound attacks cut the chains of Anne’s weapon…!

(Even if she has another one, she won’t be able to take it out in time! I’ll slam her with follow up attacks and it will be over! And though she’s an advance guard, her armor is in tatters… And this is my strongest sound attack…!)

—Cymba Dot of Paradise Parade is eliminated!

The announcement suddenly rang in their heads.

“Thunder Sky Sever Claws – Dual Claws!”

Blades of thunder pierced into Petta’s back.

After losing its wings, the angel…fell to the ground.

“Shit…! Cymba didn’t make it then…! However, I still have my arms! The music can continue…”

“Chain Punch!”

The chain was wrapped around Anne’s fist as she dealt the finishing blow.

Petta barely had any HP left after being hit by Necoco’s charge attack while she was still under the effect of Wild Life.

And so her body turned into light and started to disappear…

“Sorry…Hatake… I wasn’t able to do much…”

“Full Enhance.”

As if to answer Petta’s words, Hatake activated a charge attack.

Full Enhance would enhance all of his abilities for three minutes…

“You don’t need to say that. You did well, Petta.”

“But I left you alone…!”

“Yes. I am…still here.”

His expression wasn’t tense like at the beginning of the fight. But it wasn’t his usual relaxed expression either.

However, Hatake was smiling.
