Happy New Year (3)

The city stadium was located a few blocks south of Experimental No. 3.

The city had gradually banned burning firecrackers and fireworks over the years. On public holidays, the city focused on a unified fireworks display, with the stadium being one of the several display points.

The rooftop of the dormitory and the school building were both sealed off, so people couldn’t go up there. This was the only place on the campus where they could see the stadium from afar. Most importantly, it wasn’t out in the open and a big glass wall was in front of it to block the wind.

Qin Yuan looked at his watch. It was still half an hour before midnight.

He beckoned at the several Class 1 boys and the few little attendants’ eyes brightened, swiftly dashing over. “Class monitor!”

Qin Yuan took out his meal card. The money stored inside could be used in the cafeteria and kiosk. “Go buy little snacks for everyone.”

The several boys gladly accepted the magnetic card. “Okay! Then, can we buy whatever we want?”

The class monitor was still the same generous and considerate class monitor!

“Hold on.” Qin Yuan turned his head and looked at Ruan Qingmu. “Do you want to drink milk tea or warm milk?”

Ruan Qingmu smilingly looked at him. “Both are okay. It’s best if there’s hawthorn juice.”

Qin Yuan turned to those several boys and said, “Buu hawthorn juice first and then buy a few of each warm milk tea flavor. After buying it, give them to Class 9 students to pick first.”

Class 1’s labor representative faintly asked, “Isn’t it for Ruan Qingmu to pick?”

Qin Yuan indifferently looked at him. “If you have so much nonsense, don’t buy your share.”

The labor representative said, “Class monitor, I was wrong!”

Hehe. The incapable ruler had regained his senses. Not only did he spoil his beloved concubine, but he also had to execute his advisors!

Not long after, a few boys came back from the stairs while panting with two large carton boxes in their arms. The leading boy quickly ran over, handing over a large bag of hot drinks. “Boss Ruan, there’s no hawthorn juice. Are you okay with passion fruit? It’s also sour!”

Ruan Qingmu smiled, took two cups of hot passion fruit drinks, and handed one to Qin Yuan. “Here. It tastes sweet and sour.”

Qin Yuan wordlessly took it, gently inserted the straw, and took a sip.

It was a bit like hawthorn juice with a real sour taste.

“Are you tired?” he asked softly, “If not, should we return to rest?”

It had been an intense afternoon of rehearsals, with dinner delivered by a classmate, an hour of fumbling around with makeup, and a very long wait for the stage.

It really wasn’t easy just for what was a relatively short dance.

Not to mention Fu Songhua, who kept complaining about his cramped feet, even he, who had experienced countless presentations and speeches on the stage, was a bit stressed out and sweaty on this occasion.

Ruan Qingmu opened his mouth to yawn and shook his head. “Just watch it. It’ll spoil the mood if we return.”

The boys emptied the boxes of snacks and contentedly ate them while excitedly looking at their phones.

“Hahaha. The voting for our two classes’ boss’ show is too amazing!”

“They’ve already dominated all previous shows shortly after debuting.”

“Hahaha. Guys, look at this snapshot. Doesn’t Old Fu’s expression look like he’s constipated?”

“Don’t say it like this. Old Fu was in women’s clothes at that time. It could be menstrual pain…”

Fu Fonghua slapped the boy’s head from upstairs. “Zhou Quanhui, you’re dead! Wait for me to kill you on the basketball court!”

That boy turned around and shot his big, white face, quickly sending it into the big grade group. “Everyone, look at Heishan’s old demon!”

A group of boys almost rolled down the steps from laughing and successively turned their heads to take a picture with Fu Songhua in the frame, forcing him to take a picture with them. Fu Songhua avoided the left side but not the right one. In a short while, they had snapped various pictures of his big white face. Fu Songhua was so angry that he shouted, “Class monitor, class monitor, help me to look for the forum administrator to delete the post, ah.”

Ruan Qingmu sat on the steps of the row behind him, his head hurting from their noise, and was about to reach out and kick him when someone among the boys suddenly shouted, “It’s beginning. Look quickly!”

Several fireworks suddenly rose in the sky outside from the distant city stadium. They were multi-colored and shimmering, winding up into the sky in the pitch-black night and slowly blooming into a brilliant mass of flowers.

Before the fireworks in front of them were out, another rose behind them, brightening the night sky in a grand and brilliant display of color.

It was midnight and the New Year arrived on time, accompanied by a silent and grand firework display.

The boys ran down the steps in a frenzy of excitement and slumped against the glass wall. “Wah, it’s really fucking beautiful!”

“Yes, ah. It’s really romantic to watch the fireworks here, only lacking a girlfriend!”

On the highest step, Fu Songhua suddenly grabbed Fang Li’s soft hand and nervously pointed toward the front. “Fang Li… look at the fireworks, quick!”

Fang Li’s body softly trembled unnoticeably.

He let that broad, warm palm hold him as faint tears glimmered in his eyes and he stared dazedly into the distance.

After the clock struck midnight, it turned out that not all Cinderellas were beaten back to their original form and could still have a prince by their side.

Next to them, Qin Yuan looked up silently, his bright eyes reflecting the brilliant lights and vibrant colors reflecting off the glass wall, and then turned his head.

His voice was incredibly soft and gentle. “Happy New Year, Student Ruan Ruan.”

The same fireworks rose and brightened in Ruan Qingmu’s crystal-clear eyes.

The situation in front of him was just ordinary, but it was also a déjà vu from long ago and traversed through time.

It was so similar to the Lantern Festival in their previous lives when they had stopped fighting for a while and traveled together.

Everything around them had changed throughout time, but this man and the lanterns and fireworks reflected in this man’s eyes were just as beautiful.

He gazed fixedly at Qin Yuan with a brilliant and open smile. “Qin-shaoxia, may you have happiness every day for all the years of your life.”
