Chapter 212: Third World: Wrongfully Accused Again

On a deserted dirt road clouds of dust rose to the sky as two armoured jeeps tracked the beautiful landscape as the golden orange sunrise rose from the horizon. It was bound to be a beautiful day but the three people in one of the armoured jeeps didn't seem to think so as they drove in awkward silence. The atmosphere was so heavy and thick that one could easily slice it with a knife and the three of them had no choice but to be there.

Qie Ranzhe had sent Machu and the rest of his team to follow up on a lead leaving him behind with a two car envoy. He had decisively kept Feng Zi by his side handcuffing him in the passenger seat but just as they were about to leave Zhao Huangzhi insisted on joining them. He had already arranged for her to leave with Machu's envoy but not only did Machu refuse, she also protested.

Since he was in no mood to chit chat he agreed but she had to sit at the back seat. Just like this, the trip was decided with Qie Ranzhe on the driver's seat leading the way. Their target was Fui Gen, the last person to have had his ass kicked by Feng Yu. They hoped that pimp would know Feng Yu's whereabouts, if not then the lady that was important enough to force Feng Yu to temporarily expose himself just to rescue her.

Wen Qinxi barely slept the previous night so he put on his sunglasses and fell asleep with his feet up on the dashboard. Qie Ranzhe wanted to stop him but also didn't want to talk to him or start a fight so he let it be but Zhao Huangzhi didn't take it so well.

"Take your filthy shoes off the dashboard," she commanded glaring at Feng Zi with a look of disdain but who would have thought the man would deliberately ignore her and carried on sleeping. Zhao Huangzhi wouldn't be Zhao Huangzhi if she didn't persist and so she yelled again,

"Are you deaf? I said take your feet off the dashboard!"

Wen Qinxi was an expert at selective hearing, it was as though he had cotton balls in his ears making him feign ignorance with ease. Seeing her plan wasn't working, she looked for backing from the next available person. "Ran-ge, his challenging your authority. Don't you want to do something about it?" she said rubbing his shoulder.

Qie Ranzhe was already having a headache and needed space to figure out some stuff which is why he wanted Machu to take Zhao Huangzhi along but things didn't work out for him. Things were bearable at the beginning of the journey but now Zhao Huangzhi was starting trouble and he was not in the mood. "Don't make trouble otherwise I will kick you out and you can ride the second car," he said shrugging off Zhao Huangzhi's hand that was rubbing his shoulder.

Silently biting her lower lip, she stared out the window swallowing back the rest of her complaint. Ever since the day she left Feng Zi's hold it seemed everything was going wrong. For years these two had butt heads fighting for her attention so much so that she had them eating out of her hand but all her hardwork seemed to have been for nought at the end of the day.

Initially she didn't care that Feng Zi was acting hostile towards her with his feelings for her taking a 180 degree turn. She had always wanted to be with Qie Ranzhe so she didn't care when Feng Zi suddenly turned cold towards her but it seemed Feng Zi losing interest was influencing Qie Ranzhe's feeling towards her. She had to figure out something otherwise she did end up losing Qie Ranzhe.

While Zhao Huangzhi was trying to salvage her relationship, Wen Qinxi was in deep sleep with his head leaning against the window. He slept so unguarded that he didn't notice a certain someone who was watching him through his peripheral view. That person could only be Qie Ranzhe whose attention was divided between keeping his eye on the road and scrutinizing Feng Zi.

This was a first in a long time that they had spent this much time together. Staring at that handsome face, Qie Ranzhe suddenly felt nostalgic for his primary school days. Because of his identity as the president's son, he was distant and always kept to himself that is until he met Feng Zi. He remembered telling Feng Zi his identity and to stay away but the eight year old said he didn't care and tired Qie Ranzhe out till they became friends.

Who would have guessed they did become enemies ten years later? Qie Ranzhe shook his head in disappointment. If only they could go back to how it was before but the likelihood of that happening was slim. Just then, his thought process was interrupted by the sound of gunshots.

With his brows knitted together, he radioed the car behind them only to be met by the panicked voice of his subordinate. "General we are under attack. There are about six bogeys tailing us.....shit.....the sergeant has been hit, I repeat the sergeant has been hit!" said the panicked soilder.

This raucous woke up Wen Qinxi from his dream. Taking off his sunglasses as he asked, "What happened?" but the response he got was unexpected.

"Is it your men?!" yelled Qie Ranzhe who was seething with anger with his hands tightly clutching the steering wheel. If this was really Feng Zi's doing then he did torture him to death.

"Fuck no!" yelled Wen Qinxi. This really had nothing to do with him yet Qie Ranzhe accused him without batting an eyelid, "Give me the key and I will take care of them!" Wen Qinxi said this while raising his cuffed hand but Qie Ranzhe ignored him issuing orders to Zhao Huangzhi, "Commander! Grab the rifle under the seat and retaliate!" staring right at her in the review mirror.

"General Qie," she said her voice hesitant, "I am not fit to fire a weapon." She had only joined the army to follow Qie Ranzhe and hadn't experienced combat before. Fully aware of her skill she decided to make up an excuse. "The second car can by us some time. I suggest you floor it," she said suggesting they abandon ship.

Qie Ranzhe felt his entire body grow numb at her words and was about to order her to do as commanded but Feng Zi suddenly picked his handcuffs right in front of them and grabbed the sniper rifle from under the back seat. Both the general and commander were dumbfounded and watched as Feng Zi climb out of the car window before reappearing at the back of the jeep.

Wen Qinxi signalled for the car behind them to drive ahead of them giving him a clear view of the envoy that had the guts to attack them. He set up the sniper rifle and lay down on the cold floor. Looking through the magnifying scope he focused on the driver of the car in front and in a clean shot he took down the first car absorbing the recoil in his body. The first car veered out of the road taking along with it another car followed by a huge explosion.
