Chapter 421 Ultimate End Of The Battle

After Linus stabbed the little girl's bear, the big life bar at the top of Kaizen's vision quickly dropped, showing that this was not only a super effective hit, but also the fastest way to defeat her. And even though it wasn't Kaizen who delivered the final blow, his participation in the victory was undeniable, and since he was the only player present, he was the one who received all the XP from this bizarre battle against this boss.

Kaizen smiled as he contemplated the rewards for so much effort and surviving such a tense situation, only it wasn't all over yet.

Linus approached him and held out the Næġling Falske. At that moment, Kaizen realized that the damage to the sword was not only serious, but irreversible, to say the least. Of the ancient sword forged by Payker himself, only the hilt, the pommel, the guard, and the main part, the blade, which was broken in half, remained. The other steel shards of the sword were scattered all over the floor of the hall, and even if they were recovered, not even the best blacksmith in the world could restore this blade.

"By the way, I am sorry about what happened to the sword you entrusted to me." Linus said, looking at the broken blade. "That's why I never use anything but my own hands."

"There is no need to apologize. We defeated the enemy, that's all that matters." Kaizen affirmed as he gladly welcomed Næġling Falske back. "But before I go on to the door ahead, I have to ask: What about the Minotaur?"

The mythical creature was still on the ground after being defeated by Kaizen, but it didn't look dead or anything, even after being swallowed by Lucia's teddy bear. In fact, the Minotaur seemed to be taking a nap, as its loud breathing through its long snout could be heard by both Kaizen and Linus.

"They say he falls asleep from time to time, and some thieves and nomads try to guess what time it is so they can loot the Labyrinth with one less worry, but I never thought the rumor was true." Linus replied.

"And it's okay to leave it there?"

"The Minotaur, though ferocious, won't leave the maze for some reason..."

"Perhaps because it gets lost in here like any irrational creature would?" Kaizen inquired.

"Perhaps. But since he is very powerful, he protects this place and prevents great damage from being done by human exploration. He will be more useful alive than dead, so we will leave him alone for now."

Kaizen nodded in agreement. Linus seemed to be the kind of man who had a lot of experience in life and who had the right to talk about such things.

"Um..." Psyker put a hand to his chin as he looked at the man in the hat with narrowed eyes.

"What?" asked Linus, a little surprised and annoyed by that look.

"I don't know... I just didn't think you guys from the Order of Dalamyr would be very understanding about such things. I thought you killed every monster or supernatural creature you saw."

"If we're paid, yes, we do kill every supernatural creature, it's just that the cases where people pay us to exterminate those kinds of monsters are usually the cases where those creatures are evil and harmful to society."

"Generally?"

"It's obvious you don't know the Purians.... They are not evil supernatural creatures at their core, but with the expansion of cities and towns, the forests where they used to live have been destroyed, and as much as they have to hide from humans by living in sewers or abandoned houses, they love to play tricks on humans and play with their dreams."

"They don't seem as bad as you made them out to be."

"They're not, it's just that the end of some people's sleep makes them angry, so they'll pay any amount of money to see the heads of the creatures that torment them. I admit it would be better if we didn't have to do this kind of service, but it is what is necessary to keep the Order of Dalamyr active."

That day, Kaizen learned that the Order of Dalamyr was a little different than he thought. They had gone from being a simple clan of witch hunters to an organization that actually cared about the future of the world, which was more in line with his goal as a psyker to find and maintain balance.

"Now, let's see what's on the other side of the door and get out of here fast, because I'm starting to get hungry." Linus said.

They walked to the end of the cavernous corridor and stared at the colossal stone door, which was ajar. There were carvings all over its structure that looked as if they had been carved by expert hands. Kaizen was not sure what the purpose of these marks was, but he could feel a strange energy emanating from the door, as if it were charged with ancient magic.

Linus stepped forward and pushed the door, which creaked loudly as it moved.
