Chapter 342 Amanda (Part 1)

Klaus Park's life was the opposite of dull. In a short period of time, many things had happened, things that directly impacted his destiny, and if behind the scenes things were moving to make his life even more hectic than ever, in his personal life things were about to get less confusing.

On Klaus' first weekend on the NIST campus, he had a social event planned with his roommates, a karaoke outing with some girls. On this Friday, all the students seemed very excited, because it was literally the first chance for most of them to do things they normally did off-campus, like drinking, dancing at some club, or even kissing. However, Klaus was not the type of person to get excited about this kind of thing, at least not normally. He was still recovering from the fact that he had started to like Emma, which in his view was obviously a platonic love, a one-sided love.

So Klaus didn't get his hopes up for the karaoke, and neither did Andrew, who had to split up with his old girlfriend because she blackmailed him out of going to the special show.

However, David and Nathan were very excited. They were hopeful that they would lose their virginity.

David was an older boy, who even wore a goatee to look older. He was not ugly, not too short, not too tall, he just did not know how to talk to the opposite sex. Nathan was almost the opposite of David in some ways, he was short, blond and had the countenance of a teenager, only his biggest hindrance to talking to girls was because he liked to talk a lot, especially about subjects that most people don't like, like biology, chemistry and any subject that the young genius enjoyed.

"Pay attention to you two." Andrew caught David and Nathan's attention as they waited for the girls to arrive already in the karaoke room. "Just act like I told you to act and everything will be fine. You're cool, you just need to hold back a little until the girls get used to you, okay?"

The two boys, who had their backs up and were sitting on the couch like two obedient boys, nodded frantically at the same time as sweat beaded down their necks.

Seconds of silence later, they both couldn't hold themselves together any longer.

"Wouldn't it be better if we sang a little? To seem more natural to them?" Nathan asked, reaching out to grab a microphone.

"Or should we order something?" David asked, reaching for the menu.

Andrew held the microphone and the menu on the table. "No, your colleague asked us to reserve the room and wait for you, didn't she? We just walked in a minute ago. They should be here by now."

Again, David and Nathan nodded at the same time and stepped back.

Watching this whole set of scenes almost made Klaus laugh out loud. It was funny, in a way, to see how nervous the boys seemed. Nevertheless, Klaus managed to hold back the urge to laugh with great effort and to try to help his classmates to be calmer, he asked:

"So, David, how did you meet this colleague who accepted your invitation?"

This was a doubt that was really on Klaus' mind, because it would be normal to expect this from Nathan, since he is much more communicative, but David, quite the opposite, was more shy.

David blushed a little and looked at the ground. He hadn't expected Klaus to ask that.

"Well...I-I met her in Calculus 2 class." He stammered.

"Really? And how was that?" Klaus insisted, trying to sound interested.

"Sigh... It was like this..." David took a deep breath and began to count.

He remembered the day when he was sitting in the last row of the room, solving the exercises in his notebook. He had always liked math, but he didn't like to expose himself or participate in discussions, precisely because they used to underestimate him because he looked more like a bully than a nerd. He preferred to stay quiet in his corner, watching the other students.

It was then that he saw her enter the room. She was beautiful, with long blonde hair, blue eyes, and a charming smile. She was wearing a plaid skirt and a white blouse, which emphasized her curves. She sat in the first row, right in front of the professor and next to David, who felt his heart beat faster. He had never seen such a beautiful girl in his life. He was mesmerized by her, unable to look away.

He didn't realize that the teacher had started talking and was asking the class a question.

"Does anyone know how to solve this equation?" The teacher pointed to the board.

No one raised their hands. Everyone was afraid or lazy to answer.

"No one? Too bad..." The teacher sighed.

It was at that moment that David heard her voice.

"I know, professor!" She said, raising her hand a little late, because she was still arranging her things on the table.

David was surprised. Did she know how to solve that equation? It was a difficult equation, outside the area of calculus, involving exponential and logarithmic functions. How could she know if this was only the first class?

The teacher smiled and said:

"Very good! What is your name?"

"My name is Amanda." She replied.

"Amanda, then. Can you come up here in front and solve the equation on the board?"

"Sure, teacher." She said, getting up and walking over to the board.

David was even more surprised. She didn't seem nervous or intimidated. She seemed confident and self-assured. She picked up the chalk and began writing on the board, solving the equation quickly and accurately, showing all the steps and explaining each one.

The teacher was impressed. He praised Amanda for her intelligence, and the other students were also amazed, not only by her beauty, but also by her intellect. Some clapped their hands, others whistled or shouted "Bravo!"

David was delighted too, not believing what he was seeing. She was beautiful and intelligent at the same time. She was perfect.
