The first real boss fight went better than I expected. It was a lot different than fighting the small frys we’d been fighting up until now.

“Zephyrus, you did it! Congratulations!”

I was still tense from the battle when Hannah jumped at me finally allowing me to relax.

“Yeah, I did it! Did you see that Hannah? It was easy.”

I Highfived Hannah the tension dropping. We were celebrating the clear when an announcement went off in my head.

“The reward for clearing the forest dungeon for the first time will distributed, congratulations on clearing the dungeon.”

Oh right, you get a special item the first time you clear a dungeon. Hannah and I were both surprised to find them already in our hands.

“What is this?”

“Its like a medal for clearing the dungeon.”

It’s kind of a cool thing for [dun-life] to do this. You can collect them, or even like sew them into your uniform like a general. Hannah pulled my sleeve as I grinned down at the badge, her gaze was on the drops.

“The boss drops are really amazing Zephyrus.”

“Oh right, OK Hannah let’s gather them up.”

“Ok.”

We got a total of 14 drops this time, 4 boss drops, the regular monster drops and a treasure chest. The chest this time was a silver chest.

“Silver chest!”

Hannah shouted in excitement when she saw the chest.

“Yeah, silver is good, Hannah why don’t you open it.”

“Really!?”

Well being the baggage carrier is trouble some and my apology was a wooden box earlier so…when Hannah opened the chest she found a high potion, this would be considered a hit in beginner dungeons.

For those unfamiliar with rpg games its an item that can instantly restore 500HP. And since HP is rarely over 500 its an item that can help you out in a pinch.

""

“Its a high potion!”

“Way to go Hannah!”

Hannah was so happy with her first boss run that she spun around and high fived me.

We celebrated for about 30 minutes before storing the items.

“Done, what do we do now Zephyrus? Go home?”

“Nope.”

Hannah was looking towards the transfer circle but I went back out to the rest area.

“Hannah come out here. Promise you won’t tell anyone what happens next.”

“Huh, what?”

“We’re going to have some private play that you can’t tell anyone else about?”

“Private play!?”

I know Hannah likes words like that.

“Eh, uh o-ok. What are we going to do?”

“Well seeing is believing, check it out.”

I then used my skill to slash at the boss door.

“《Hero’s sword》”

“Hya?!”

Hannah let out a surprised sound before something odd happened.

“Huh? The transfer circle disappeared? Anteater bear is back!?”

Nice reaction.

As Hannah just said, the boss that we just defeated was resurrected and is back in the room. The slimepop addict immediately guessed what I wanted to do.

“Are you going to play slimepop with the boss!?”

“Exactly! Although it’s not slimes this time so, more like…. Bosspop?”

“Thats not the issue here!”

Normally the boss won’t come back unless you leave through the transfer circle. If you leave the room like we just didn’t it won’t come back. As such the school teaches that you should always leave through the circle. But there’s an exploit.

You can force the boss to return by hitting the door to the boss room hard enough. This tactic has been officially recognized by the games development team.

There are various obstacles that work to bottleneck someone clearing the game. For instance the advanced job change tickets. An advanced job is required to clear the advanced level dungeons. But if you never get a job change ticket you can never clear them. It’s obvious in this world where [berserker] is actually considered to be good.

That’s why the developers approved this tactic that way it would prevent players from getting stuck trying to get the ticket to drop. The players were happy with this work around and enjoyed doing the boss run marathons.
