Chapter 256 - Disowned

Lee Minjoon slammed his chopsticks on top of the table, creating a loud noise, and as his eyes upon Jinhee, he voiced out, "Are you trying to say we are not your family? Lee Jinhee, are you that eager to get disowned by us?"

As a small smirk formed on Lee Jinhee's face, she said, "Shin Soyeon is a guest of ours as well. It is not good to show the ugly side of the family to her."

Picking up her chopsticks, Jinhee placed some kimchi inside her mouth whilst a light-hearted expression was upon her face. The Lee family did not attach any importance to Shin Soyeon for she was not the daughter of any affluent and top families.

"It is you who have started it, Lee Jinhee, and if you are willing to get disowned, I have no problems with it. Maybe I, as a parent, is a burden upon you," Minjoon vocalised.

As a sad look appeared in Jiyoung's eyes, she placed her hand on Minjoon's shoulder, and as she stared at him, she said, "Don't say that, Minjoon. I am sure Jinhee likes us as much as we like her, and she could be going through some difficult times."

Lee Jinhee scoffed, and turning to face Lee Dowon, Jinhee said, "I have finished eating, Grandfather Dowon."

Before she got up, Jinhee added, "Oh yeah! Grandpa Dowon, Soyeon and I are planning to go on a tiny road trip, and if it gets too late, I might return little later than the night."

Lee Jinhee looked at Lee Minjoon from the corner of her eyes and noticed that nonchalance showed upon his face.

"Sure, you can do that. Take Driver Kim along with you, and take care of yourself," Dowon vocalised to which Jinhee nodded.

°°°

As Lee Jinhee sat at the back seat of the car beside Shin Soyeon, Jinhee's eyes stared at the scenery beyond her window. Soyeon was not someone who liked making conversations, and Jinhee was not mood to talk at this moment.

The road in front of her was completely empty, and mountains were present at one side of the road. On the other side was a railing, and as the car was going up gradually, Jinhee tapped her hand on top of the window.

Waiting for Minjoon to make him move was beginning to make anxious, and she hoped that Minjoon would not ignore this chance. Her heart beat rapidly within her chest as a sigh left her mouth.

If this plan of hers became successful, then there would be a major attack against Minjoon, and if she revealed news of how she is not Minjoon's daughter, then Minjoon's position as the CEO will be threatened. He would be pressured to sell his shares and will be spending couple of years behind the bars.

If Jinhee was lucky, she might be able to make Jiyoung fall for this plot of hers, and staring at the sky, Jinhee could easily see how dark and gloomy they were turning out to be.

Seeing the clouds on top of the sky, Jinhee had an inkling that it would rain— as the weather forecast said— and under such a condition, barely anyone would go on this road.

This would make an perfect opportunity for Minjoon to make his move.

Turning her head to face Shin Soyeon, Jinhee vocalised, "Are you ready? Once again, I apologise about involving you in something as dangerous as this."

Those words from Lee Jinhee caused for Soyeon to shake her head, and she said, "It is okay, Jinhee-ssi. This is my job, and I know you have a reason behind doing this."

That is when Jinhee noticed it— the blinding headlights of a truck— and a small smirk formed upon her face. Things were perfectly along with her plans.

°°°

"What idea?" Lee Jinhee asked as she ate couple of strands of noodles more.

"Road trip— With that excuse, go along with Shin Soyeon on some deserted mountain road or something, and make sure Lee Minjoon knows about it. Soyeon will be there to protect you if anything goes wrong.

Minjoon might send a vehicle to attack as killing someone off in an empty road with no CCTV is really easy, and when that happens, I will send couple of people to keep an eye on you in order to gather evidence," Han Taeho explain.

Understanding Taeho's plan, Jinhee nodded. Although Han Taeho's plan was simple and dangerous, it was something that seemed to effective as of this moment, and she decided to give it a shot therefore.

°°°

As the car was attacked by the truck in front of them, the car was slammed against the mountain, and although Jinhee's head ached because of being slammed against the window, she knew that she had to bear that.

She could hear the driver's panicked voice before he drifted off to become unconscious, and Jinhee had her eyes tightly closed. The windows of the car had been broken off. Nonetheless, she was not attacked much due to her protective layer of clothing.

She placed her palm on top of her thighs and made sure that it was not touching any of the glass shards.

Before leaving, the truck collided with the car once again, causing for Jinhee's head to bump against the front seat of the car.

Knowing that the police will be here any time soon, Jinhee took a piece of glass shard and made few scratches upon her arm to make the situation seem more believable while pretending to be unconscious.

Soyeon had her eyes closed, and it appeared that she had couple of wounds upon her body as well. From her line of sight, Jinhee could see that the driver has fainted.

Making a final cut upon her hand, Jinhee watched as the blood flowed down it. The wound was not life threatening as of yet. Nonetheless, it had a considerable amount of blood flowing down it.

About the entire thing, there was only one thing that made Jinhee sad, other than the immense pain her body was going through; It was the fact that she will be missing her last exam.

Jinhee let out a deep breath. There was no helping it. Maybe she did not manage to complete all of the exams this time around. Nonetheless, she believed that there was a next time around for her as well.
