Chapter 31 Legolas's Game

Inside the living room, Christensen shivered amid all the noise as he hugged Leo who was his only source of comfort at this moment.

Just a few minutes ago, he was in cloud nine still from the joy of his reunion with Leo. Now, the same could not be said as unknown gunmen and superhuman warriors stormed the luxury hotel where he stayed.

He sat in the same spot where he last met Legolas as he shivered and grabbed Leo tighter. "Buddy, what's going on?"

Mr. Damien had a serious look on his face as he crushed the token.

Having been restless for most of the day, he decided to respect his intuition and start planning for the worst-case scenario. During the day, he already made a lot of contingency plans to account for a lot of scenarios.

Strange warriors storming into the hotel was one of the scenarios that he accounted for, and he already had a perfect plan to counter this offensive.

An Elementalist barrier was a defensive shield treasure that was made by infusing a specific type of elementalist energy into a shield.

Once Mr. Damien crushed the token, a water elementalist barrier rose up and covered a massive part of the hotel where the enemy offensive was concentrated.

Like a rising tide, the water blocked all the enemies. Elementalist barriers were one of the most frustrating defenses to face for low-grade superhumans.

Other superhumans may struggle against this defensive measure, but not Legolas. The same way that Mr. Damien planned for different scenarios that could be used by the enemies, so also did Legolas plan counters for the butler's counters.

This was no simple battle; it was a battle of contingency plans.

Having received the 1.5 million Darvis credits that were wired into his new account, Legolas used them to get some gadgets to aid his cause.

With his Agent subclass and the marksman passive ability, Legolas was able to keep his aim to the most vulnerable part of the Elementalist barrier.

This vulnerable part was recognized by him only because of his massive experience that was gotten from fighting against lots of Elementalists.

The sound of the pistols shooting was like the rhythmic cacophony of birds singing as the Elementalist barrier that was just erected popped like a balloon.

Amid the shock of Mr. Damien and all the other warriors in the prince's entourage, the massive water fell with a boom, leaving the core of the Elementalist barrier floating aimlessly in the skies.

Legolas's successful action enabled the 3 other Grade E experts to finally infiltrate the hotel. All 3 of them were fast as they used the elevators to rapidly climb up to the 4th floor where Prince Christensen lived.

Before leaving, Legolas grabbed the floating core of the Elementalist barrier before also charging into the elevators alongside his tamed Wild Coyote.

As soon as he got to the 4th floor, he did another nefarious act of jamming all the elevators in the hotel. He already analyzed the hotel after his first visit here and knew exactly what to do to get things done.

He won the first battle of wits, but the game was still on.

In response to this loss, as the only working elevator with Legolas in it left, Mr. Damien made a call before taking over control of the hotel's security as he implemented an instant lockdown.

As the elevators got jammed, the doors also got locked as the lockdown took effect immediately. Well, this came a bit late as during this time, Legolas already infiltrated the living room where he met the prince again.

On entering the living room, Legolas met a battle between his 3 Grade E temporary companions and Leo, the Golden bloodline Frost Wolf.

Prince Christensen was hidden in a corner of the living room.

Instead of going to get the prince as planned or going to help his comrades, Legolas ignored them all and rushed to the shelf that was at the front of the room.

Legolas took a second to remember what he saw as he instantly started inputting the combination of keys. The next moment, to everyone's shock, the shelf opened with a click and he finally got his hands on his prize.

The original plan was them kidnapping the prince and forcing the combination out of him, the red masked warrior never said he knew the combination. Instantly, the other Grade E experts knew that they were played.

They could not do anything though as they were still tied down by the powerful Frost Wolf. And for some strange reason, the Wolf left the red masked warrior to continue his nefarious actions.

As soon as the shelf opened, Legolas dipped his hands in and grabbed the only 2 books that were currently occupying the shelf. He did not just grab the books but the bag of money that also laid aimlessly inside the shelf.

His virtual interface lit up at almost the same time.

In the time span of mere 10 minutes, Legolas fulfilled his goals for coming here. He did not just get the basic summoner class knowledge that he was after, but he also got the bag of money that the criminals were after.

He beat Mr. Damien with experience, countering all his plans perfectly with his own contingency plans, he effortlessly won this battle of wits.

Mr. Damien was not the only one who lost. The criminals also lost as he already got the bag of money that brought all of them here.

In the end, he successfully made use of them as bouncers to further his cause. The most satisfying part of this all was that he achieved all these without compromising his relationship with Christensen since this was not his face.

"Stop him!" Mr. Damien yelled as he finally smashed the door.

As soon as the butler arrived, Legolas removed his red mask and bowed slightly in his direction. "Till we meet next time".

The next moment, he sprinted towards the nearest window and jumped.
