Chapter 230 Little Mandron Soldier 53

888 was leaning against the wall behind He Yuan with his arms crossed, watching as his host sorted through the files on the holographic screen.

His I-mean-business frown on Yang Xue's innocent face was such a huge contrast, 888 couldn't help but chuckle a few times.

He Yuan looked behind him then and furrowed his brows. "What?"

888 was already back to his usual aloof and prideful appearance. He shrugged at his host as he said, "Nothing."

PING!

He Yuan eyed his system for a few extra seconds before turning around and checking out the notification that just popped in.

[[!CLASSIFIED!]]

He frowned. Messages such as these were encrypted in the army and to gain access, each officer had a special QR code. He laid back on his chair and calmly scanned Yang Xue's bracelet on the interface of the file.

888 was standing behind his host so he was able to read the details of the file, the minute it was unlocked. He raised a brow. It stated that Ding Weimin's Special Division had a mission to an unhihabited Planet and Yang Xue was expected to join in??

"What does this have to do with Yang Xue?" He asked himself softly. The Special Division had about 20,000 soldiers so this mission was by no means a small scale one. What value would one Yang Xue add to the Division of 20,000 soldiers?

As the system pondered upon this with a vague idea in his mind, He Yuan scrolled through the document until he came upon the Commanding officers in charge of the operation. And then he chuckled.

There were a total of 20 Platoons that would be seperated from the main Division. These Platoons would be in charge of scouting and other stuff in preparation for landing and the leader of one of those platoons just happened to be.... surprise, surprise. Jin Qi.

Even more amusing was the fact that Yang Xue was listed to be a member of her Platoon. He Yuan threw his head back, pinched his forehead and laughed softly.

Jin Qi didn't even give him time to adjust into his new office. The woman must hate loose ends very much. He lowered his head once more. Well, it made his mission all the more easier.

Since the mission was to take place in two weeks, He Yuan spent the rest of the day and night organizing the long line of documents that was assigned to him but didn't send it in immediately.

He waited until two hours before the deadline three days later to do so. He was supposed be a mandron afterall. He didn't want anyone accusing Yang Xue of pushing his duties to someone else.

After sending in the files, He Yuan's next destination was the Logistics department of the Third army -specifically the Technical section of the Logistics department.

He had a mission in less than two weeks and even if he was assigned to the scouting team and wouldn't need to fight, he still needed basic skills on operating a Tech suit. Although he had access to Yang Xue's memories, knowing something was much more different from actually doing it.

"Sir!" An andronian Private from the Logistics department greeted with a firm salute. He had an awkward expression on his face but besides that, he seemed okay.

He Yuan didn't bother about the soldier's feelings. He'd more or less received the same attitude from a lot of others in the past three days. There were some soldiers that felt Yang Xue didn't deserve his position because it was as a result of an unfair advantage. They thoroughly believed that Yang Xue couldn't have been able to kill the Xor queen without his gene mutation so that was basically using the back door!

To those kinds of people, He Yuan merely scoffed. Their words were the same as a mandron coming out to say Ding Weimin didn't deserve the merits he got for killing the first Xor queen because he was a human and humans were naturally the fittest of all species so that was an unfair advantage against other species.

Yes the situation was not exactly the same as Yang Xue was the only mandron that had the genetic mutation but he didn't create himself so why should he feel guilty for using said happenstance for the benefit of the army and for his own benefit?

It wasn't as if the Xor queen had magically dropped dead when it saw that Yang Xue was unaffected by its magnetic energy. Yang Xue had to actually fight it in order to kill it.

There were also some soldiers that felt a 'mandron' specifically did not deserve the position. They insisted that it was a mistake to put someone that was 'mentally defective' in a position of power no matter how small. What if he wasn't able to make a decision in time and this led to the death of the soldiers?

Whilst that was a valid concern, He Yuan still begged to differ. The belief that mandrons were mentally defective was grossly inaccurate. Just like the rest of them, Yang Xue had started from scratch as a recruit in the army and had handled himself very well, else he wouldn't have been allowed to join the army in the first place.

Yang Xue had coined his own battle strategies after years of intense studying and clever compilation of the methods of tons of famous -and not so famous- soldiers right from the time when Earth was still in the Solar system.

Another thing was the simplicity of mandrons was actually an added advantage. Presently, everyone was already aware of the available battle strategies and in order to keep winning, these strategies would only get more complex as time went by.

People tend to forget that most times, the easiest solution to a situation was actually the simplest and would rather waste their time thinking up complex solutions.

This was basically the case of being held back by one's own intelligence. This was why He Yuan's plan for the mandrons was to make them support teams. Yes their basic understanding was their greatest flaw but if mandron was paired with a human or an andronian -both species that naturally thought complexly- the simplicity of a mandron's train of thought would turn out to be a valuable turning point in a tough situation.

Perspectives were very important. The mandrons presented a fresh, clean and straightforward perspective! When paired with the complex and thorough perspective of other species, this would basically give rise to a well rounded army!

Even 888 had been frustrated. They did not need to be teaching army veterans such simple logic! The human and andronian soldiers were all blinded by their feelings of superiority that common sense and logic were simply dismissed as unreasonable.

The last kind of soldiers He Yuan had encountered were just like the soldier before him. They were indifferent to Yang Xue being a Sergeant Major but were still awkward when interacting with him because they had lived all their lives with a superior mindset so having to salute and carry out the orders of a mandron made them plain uncomfortable.

"Lead the way." He Yuan said finally and the soldier nodded but rather than walk in front of He Yuan, he moved over to his left and walked side by side with him.

He Yuan nodded inwardly. This soldier wasn't so bad. Even if he wasn't too comfortable with having to bend his head to a mandron, he clearly understood the rules of the army and followed it strictly. This was good.

Ten minutes later, one andronian and one mandron arrived at a large hall sectioned into various smaller halls. At the end of the hall were rows upon rows of suspended metal containers.

He Yuan moved his eyes away from the suspended containers when he was led into one of the sectioned areas of the hall. These areas were specially designed for soldiers to train with their Tech suits in different virtual scenarios.

"The Logistics department were given an order to revamp and upgrade your Tech suit Sir." The Soldier said whilst looking in the direction of the metal container suspended right at the centre of the sectioned area.

He Yuan nodded without moving his eyes from the metal container. Unlike the ones outside the sectioned area, this metal container was actually transparent so he could see the exquisite Tech suit laying magnificently in it. Yang Xue's soul thread throbbed excitedly in that moment and He Yuan's lips arched.

With nothing else to do, the Private offered a stiff hand salute and left the sectioned area.

Immediately after, He Yuan walked closer to the centre of the and hit the button to lower the metal container.

888 materialized at the same time the lowered metal container opened with a soft chime. He watched in amusement as He Yuan greedily eyed the Tech suit like a new toy.

------------------------------

The remaining days passed by with He Yuan diligently practicing with the Tech suit. It was not enough time to master the technology but with Yang Xue's memories, he was able to operate the suit fairly well.

On the day of the mission, the Spaceship dock of the Third army was very busy as troops of soldiers armed in their Tech suits filed into the military grade spaceships in an orderly manner.

Yang Xue was assigned to Jin Qi's Platoon so he had to join the Spaceship that had been assigned to his Platoon.

The very minute He Yuan stepped onto the Spaceship, he locked eyes with Jin Qi, who was initially in the middle of a conversation with an andronian soldier.
