Chapter 164: Eyes of a Primal Moth + Announcement

Chapter 164: Eyes of a Primal Moth + Announcement

Although she received messages about her newly Levelled Skills, the allure of Avemoth eyes were too much for her to resist.

Avemoth was just like a sculpture. Dead and solid. Even the eyes were nothing but hardened molten rock. Astrid doubted whether she could absorb them, but she had to try.

The moment she connected to them, her brows lifted at the sign of life. Just like the vibrant matter of hearts, or mana containers, there was still life hidden deep within them.

Taking a sigh of relief, Astrid pulled them out. With all the extra bonuses she had to Eyeball Pulling, it was just like when she was younger. She would roam around the noble gardens, skulking the land to find the blooming fruit trees. Since she only had little, weak arms, they had to be ripe so that they just broke off with a minute level of strength.

Avemoths eyes were the same. Just like the fruit trees when she was younger, they exited the statues eye sockets with ease.

The moment Astrid ripped the eyes from their sockets–she stumbled back. The once small, petrified eye transformed. It was like a caterpillar that had managed to escape its ancient cocoon and bloomed into a magnificent masterwork.

The eyes had undergone a massive change. They no longer looked anything like they once did. From the size of an apple, they had more than doubled in size. But that wasn’t all. The veins within them looked like squirming lava worms.

However, it was the intelligence within the pupil that stared at her. It was inspecting her. Shaking the eerie sight from her mind, she brought it toward her third eye.

Avemoth's pupils dilated, from a normal human eye, to that of a vicious beast. An enormous tugging sensation pulled at her mind. It was trying to break free.

“No you don’t. You are mine!”Astrid shouted with fervour as she increased the mana output within her eye.

Thankfully, Astrid was stronger now than she was before. Still, the eye put up a decent struggle. It took Astrid ten or more minutes to wrestle the eye into submission before she absorbed it within her Dominating Sovereigns Eye.

She couldn’t help but think that was the true form of Avemoth. If it had fully formed a cocoon and evolved, Astrid doubted if she could beat it.

Dumb System missions, making them almost impossible. Astrid spat.

If Astrid could kick it, she would. But a voice in the back of her head told her that it wouldn’t like that.

Calming down from the fact that she had no idea if she was even meant to clear the dungeon in the first place, Astrid looked at the new System message in glee.

Dominating Sovereigns Eye has extracted the Skill - Primal Fire - From Avemoth.

Primal Fire: Any magical attacks that deal fire damage have their damage increased by 50%.

Would you like to merge with - Primal Fire Y/N?

Her two current eye powers were Monarch Altering Fungus and Born For Flight. The former was vital in dodging attacks that were simply too fast, whereas the latter was perfect for long range movement.

Astrid thought back to flying with increased speed. She had never experienced freedom like it before, but what she truly needed was to be able to fight above her weight class to keep Levelling faster.

She still remembered her fathers words. At the end of the year, if she wasn’t Level one-hundred and fifty, then she couldn’t join the City Expedition. Although Astrid knew that her father simply said to hand waive her desire to attend. It was common knowledge that it was vehemently impossible to achieve that Level in the first year of awakening. But Astrid was almost there. A few more Levels and the impossible would be achieved.

With the thought of home, she couldn't wait to get back. The image of the others faces when they witnessed her new Class, and the power she now held. It made her teeth itch.

I wonder where Brett and the others are? Astrid tilted her head before smiling. No doubt they were rushing back after receiving the announcement of her victory. She glanced at the portal.

Astrid had made up her mind.

She changed Born For Flight for the new Primal Fire eye. It would increase the damage she dealt by an amazing fifty percent.

It just meant that she would have to rely on Blinking Reposition for her movement. The damage was too much to pass up than to just simply fly faster.

Born For Flight -> Primal Fire Updated from novelb(i)n.c(o)m

As Astrid made the choice, the eye of Avemoth appeared behind her once more. However this time, it was placid. The intelligence it had before was gone, replaced by just an eerie lack of emotion. Wherever Astrid looked, it followed its gaze.

As weird as it sounded, she was getting used to the floating eyes around her. Astrid looked at her clone and couldn’t help but admire how cool she looked. With torn clothes, a grinning mask, and two eyes floating behind her shoulders, she looked awesome.

After admiring for a while, Astrid finally looked at the Skill Level ups she had received.

Skill level up!

Void Graviton: Anything that approaches within a certain distance will slow down.

| [ Stage 2 ]: Power of Void Graviton has increased. Area-of-effect has widened.

| [ Stage 3 ]: Power of Void Graviton has increased further. Area-of-effect has widened further. Those who enter Void Graviton will now suffer a small amount of psychic damage per second, ramping up the longer they spend within.

The moment Astrid read the description, a grin formed underneath her mask. Although it didn’t matter as she was always grinning now with Avemoth’s mask, but she grinned all the same.

A plan couldn’t help itself but form within her mind. A new attack. What would happen if I locked something in a cage and stood outside it? Astrid stroked her chin. If the damage ramped up the longer they stood in it, then how much damage would it dealt if it was hours, days, or even weeks?

Although that would have to be tested against an incredibly durable monster. A monster that she couldn’t kill with her other attacks.

Placing that fun thought to the back of her mind, there was one more Skill that had evolved.

Anti-Disabling Field has reached maxed level for [ Stage 2 ]

| Requirements met for Anti-Disabling Field [ Stage 2 ]

| Evolving Anti-Disabling Field to [ Stage 3 ]

Epic - Passive Skill - Anti-Disabling Field: Your psychic mana has leaked outside of its container. -5% mana container size. The leak creates a three metre ring around you, reducing the effectiveness of incoming stuns, dazes, fears, and taunts for you and your allies.

| [ Stage 2 ]: Ring size increased by 15%. Can be activated to free you, or your ally once. (On a 5 minute cooldown)

| [ Stage 3 ]: Ring size increased by a further 25%. It can now be activated to free three allies before going on a 5 minute cooldown.

Astrid smiled at the final Skill. Not because it was inherently good, but because of the potential it had. If she focused on Constitution with her Omni-kinesis on her clones, she could break them free of any control Skills that targeted them.

It would essentially make the clone a tank, filling that spot if she needed it if she needed to go solo. That led her onto the situation of having an entire party of her clones.

The thought of having an army of clones of her was a terrifying notion. On one hand, it would be eerie having multiple, or maybe even hundreds of her all running around. But on the other hand, she couldn’t help but think of the things she could accomplish with having so many of them. Like cleaning, or doing boring chores.

She tapped her foot on the ground. What was taking everyone so long? Everyone should have received the System message.

Well, I might as well enter the Eye-Queen trials while I wait for them. Astrid was about to take out the book when she saw many figures approaching from the distance. Too many to count.

But with the added Levels and increased matter control. That also contributed to her sight within Psych Domain. She could accurately see the outlines of their body, what clothes they were wearing, and what weapons they were holding.

Astrid perked up her shoulders at the newcomers.

Bellona glanced behind her as she just entered the now stilling volcano. Just moments before, it was threatening to burst. They were already rushing over when the System Notification of Avemoths defeat flashed within their minds.

She couldn’t believe it. Astrid Sinwen, a first year awakened, had defeated numerous kings, along with the dungeon boss. All on her own. It sounded like a fabrication. An impossibility. But it was obviously true.

Leena walked with a hop in her step. The fierce battle-maid forced the tears from gushing from the corner of her eyes.

Shaking her head, they soon entered a massive opening. Battle scars lined the cave in the thousands. Large pieces of solidified molten rock lay scattered all over the place, as if trying to form a new land.

But none of that even registered within her mind. In the middle of the cave, a young woman with long flowing golden hair stood tall.

A magnificent crown lay perched grandly on her head. Long black inscribed robes draped tight to her body. A grinning mask tied to her face would have been an eerie sight, if not for the huge molten eye that glowed behind her. It almost made her take a step back in trepidation.

Mana swirled around her like a violent, primal storm that made her heart palpitate.

Was that truly Astrid?
