Chapter 138: Skill Selection

Chapter 138: Skill Selection

Before Astrid was given a chance to think about what the Title meant, the System was already moving onto the Skills.

She decided to look at them straight away. There was no way of knowing when the tree king decided it was time for her to move.

Passive - Legendary - Left Eye of Mana: Your mana will undergo a transformation belonging to the eye of the Oculus Witch. From your mana container, to your left eye, it will change from a gaseous state, to that of a purified nature. Liquid.

| Mana regeneration is increased by 20%

| Mana pool is increased by 50%

From her Status screen, Astrid was aware that she had two Skills left to fill up her Psychokinetic Class up–now Oculus Witch.

The first choice, Left Eye of Mana was an obvious one to her. It synergised incredibly well with her Stage 3 Intelligence milestone Skill; Avatar of Mana. It would mean a multiplicative result on her mana usage.

Any extra mana was a welcome choice, especially since it was extremely difficult to obtain more of it. And the fact that it would level all the way to Stage 4 only reinforced that choice. For the future, it was obvious what her decision was.

You have gained the Passive Skill - Left Eye of Mana.

Astrid wasted no time and moved onto the other. Not that she was surprised–but it was another Legendary Skill.

Passive - Epic - Oculus Might: With the power of your left eye, slow down your mana usage and grant it the boon of heaviness. Mana will become slower to use, but the damage will be significantly increased.

| Skills that use mana have their damage increased by 150%

Astrid turned her nose up at the Skill. Anything that made her slower was of no use to her.

It wouldn’t have been an issue if the Skill arrived a dozen Levels later. But she was already at a point where the monsters had speed that could reap her life at a moment's notice.

Especially for a mage caught on their own. She was at her current limit and she needed something that could counter a speed user.

Her mind turned the Great No-Eyed One’s words. “There is strength in numbers, but once one reaches such a stage, they are nothing but roadblocks in your great journey. The Eye-Queen lived a life of solitude for a reason, not from her choice, but because no-one was capable of following in her footsteps. There may come a time when you have to make a choice.”

It was the harsh reality of someone of a Legendary Class. It was lonely at the top.

Even her father could no longer go out on expeditions as his strength was too great. His greatest power lay in rot. He would either just steal all the Levels from the rest, or hold back and receive nothing. Not able to fight.

The only time he could let loose was in a City expedition, but even then, he had to be incredibly careful. Although Astrid had no doubt he was strong enough to survive on his own, that wasn’t the same for the others alongside him. Bringing them further within impeded the chances of him being able to protect everyone.

There was only so much he could do with his Class on his own.

But now she was given a never heard before Transcendent Class. Would she truly be able to go on alone with its power? The thought saddened her. What fun was fighting, travelling, exploring–if she had to do it alone. Was she destined to become like the Eye-Queen? Alone and bored.

Taking a deep breath, Astrid moved onto the next Skill.

Passive - Legendary - Blood Reversal: With the power of your left eye, reverse the blood flow of your enemy for a moment depending on your Intelligence, and the enemies resistances.

Astrid tapped her foot on the ground. At first, the Skill didn’t seem very good. Especially because it was at the Legendary rank, but that was just at Stage 1.

Besides, reversing the blood in someone's System was at worst, a discomfort, and at best, it could potentially stop their movements or even cause death.

With her current knowledge of her own body from testing various abilities, it wouldn’t be difficult to transfer that and use it against someone else.

Still, there was one more ability.

Passive - Transcendent - Dominating Sovereigns Eye: Open up your third eye–the Sovereigns Eye, and after a kill, steal your enemies eyes and empower yourself beyond your natural limits. Each stolen eye grants you a buff based on the bloodline of the enemy. You are able to store eyes into your Sovereigns Eye and use them at your discretion. Limit 0/100. Can currently only summon two at a time. Complete trials of the Eye-Queen to unlock more.

| Eyeball-Pulling is 150% easier. ( 275% )

| If eyes are destroyed, personal or gained, they regenerate with mana.

| All matter destroyed or controlled, has its strength increased by 150%

Astrid’s eyes sparkled at the Skill. Would her eyes not regenerate if they were destroyed?

She was also confused about the whole stealing eyes and empowering herself section. Did that mean that she could gain the abilities of the monsters she slayed and use them herself... Effectively bypassing the amount of Skills she could use?

Eye-Queen trials? What the hell were those? Astrid pinched her chin in thought.

The book? Her eyes widened. I'll have to leave it for now, in case the walls close in on me.

Then there was the two-hundred and seventy-five percent bonus. As she looked closer at it, it was clear that it was adding up the other benefits from her ring, and other Skill buffs. Well, it would help with gaining the monster's abilities, that's for sure.

Shifting on the spot, it seemed like this Skill was unique only to the Oculus Witch Class, and being at the Transcendent Rank–there was no point in refusing its greatness.

You have gained the Transcendent Class SKill - Dominating Sovereigns Eye

The Dominating Sovereigns Eye has changed your Constitution.

Astrid grit her teeth at the sudden shooting pain within her mind. There was no time to lessen the pain by altering her mind, instead, she was forced onto her knees as the pain assaulted her forehead.

Etiquette - level 1

Clothes Making - level 3

Clothes Repair - level 2

Astrid already knew that an available slot had opened for her Voidmare Class. She just had to wait for the System pop-up–if she received one. If not, she would just have to wait for the next Class Evolution.

After all, the black blob Classes were still a mystery to her, and she didn’t know if it followed the same logic as the bloodline Classes. Since Pupil was useless when it came to obtaining information, she just hoped that the book she received from the so-called Eye Queen would prove more fruitful.

That reminds me! Astrid was about to look at the book again, in hopes of discovering extra information now that she had reached Level one-hundred, but more System messages halted her from doing so.

You have reached Level 100!

You have already reached the Voidmare Upper Class.

Level requirement has been shifted due to Dungeon Evolution Reward.

So it indeed seems that the dungeon reward counted as the Upper Class reward. Well, not like I can complain. Astrid shook her head.

She waited again for more System notifications, but they had come to an end. Finally having peace of mind without her brain being filled with System text, she brought up the previous messages again at her own whim.

Title Received - Sovereign. [ Locked ]

| You are now a Sovereign and the responsibilities of the Title lay firmly on your shoulders. You have yet to display yourself within the vast universe. Make yourself known–Oh great Oculus Witch.

| To Unlock: Slay a Level three-hundred and fifty. Defeat another Sovereign candidate. Clear a City ranked Dungeon.

Astrid didn’t like the sound of it, but it seemed that she was enrolled into something pain inducing without her consent. Well, it would be a while before she was able to meet the requirements regardless.

Although the words “Defeat another Sovereign candidate” Left a sour taste in her mouth. It definitely sounded like a pain.

What the hell was a Sovereign candidate, anyway? A leader–of what? Did father count as a Sovereign as he was the strongest on Rebirth?

Straining her neck to rid the stiffness, her eyes landed on the Tree Ent Guardian she had murdered just before.

It was time to test her Transcendent Class Skill.
