Chapter 26 - 26.Skill Creation

Until the end of the lesson, Albert still did not get the chance to participate in the spar. Mr. Carlos dismisses the class but some students choose to continue training in the football field until the next lesson start. Some students have bonded with each other makes a lot of smaller groups within the class.

Alice asks the group to wait for her to finish cleaning herself up because she sweats excessively after she spars with Anna and James. Anna and Kana also decided to join Alice in the cleaning up as they are also sweating a lot. Kana sweats a lot less compared to the two but she got a lot of dirt and dust moving around the field and learning how to dodge.

Time passes by so fast as we relax. After finishing their meal in the cafeteria, the group jumps straight into the next lesson with Mr. Hubert. In the gym building, A lot more instructor is waiting inside holding various kind of weapon.

"Alright, now that you arrive we can immediately start the lesson. As this is the last group I expect you to be better than the group before - As you already learn from the class before" Mr. Hubert say after all the students get inside the gym building

"Today we will teach you how to create a skill using what you already have. We will start with the demonstration as it would be easier for you to understand what I explain after you observe it your self. Mr. Poe will you please show them your skill."

To many of the students surprise their teacher Mr. Poe walks from behind Mr. Hubert holding a big great axe. Mr. Poe is Albert's homeroom teacher and he is known for his easy to approach personality; He's been teaching poetry in Saint Joseph Academy for almost a year and most of the students know him.

Without any words, Mr. Poe swings his great axe to another instructor who held a great shield and big maces in each of his hands. Mr. Poe's swing is guaranteed to miss as they stand about 10 meters apart. But to many surprises, Mr. Poe's swing denying logic and some kind of wind blades coming out from Mr. Poe axe hitting the great shield.

Loud noises are reverberating when the wind collides with the great shield. The instructor forced to move 3 steps back - Every single student including the transfer students are picking up their jaw due to the shock. Witnessing something so bizarre yet amazing demonstration.

"What you see before are one of Mr. Poe's more flashy sword skill, Turbulent Slash. He creates this skill to complement his fighting style. His preferred weapon a great axe gave Mr. Poe quite a burden as it slows his movement speed due to its size and weight. To cover this weakness being unable to catch up with ranged enemy or enemy who runs away Mr. Poe creates this skill."

"And differ from the skill you learn in Ms. Layla's class - This skill doesn't require you to possess any rune to be used. Here, you will learn to execute your skill using only your mana. There is one other method to create a skill and I'll explain it in a bit after I explain the first one."

At this point, Kana's face is pale due to what Mr. Hubert said. Since yesterday every lesson requires her to use mana which she doesn't possess. She's been trying her hardest to look for any presence of mana inside her body but she still couldn't find it.

"Back to Mr. Poe's demonstration, Turbulent slash is a skill designed so he can create a wind blade transferring the momentum from his swing through the air cutting all in its path. To do that he gather a certain amount of mana and shaped it like the axe blade itself; Using the momentum of the swing he throws the mana shaped axe bladed towards his target obliterate everything in his path.

"Although sounds simple in reality it's really is difficult. As this is your last lesson I believe you already familiar with controlling mana so I wouldn't explain any further about it. For the first lesson, try to channel your mana into your weapon making it part of the circulation."

Although it sounds easy even after half an hour some students still can't manage to do it. Mr. Hubert stops the first lesson there as there's still many more he has to teach.

"You can keep practice this on your free hours as this doesn't need much supervision and save to do even in your own home. Now, we will show you a demonstration of other methods on how you can execute your skill."

"Next we would cover the other method you can cast a skill. Like in Ms. Layla's class this also requires you to have a specific rune to execute the said skill. I'm not going to demonstrate this as I already did that on the first day when we meet in the auditorium. The skills that I demonstrate previously use this method."

"To create skill using this method you need to create a specific in your mind. You need to carefully imagine how your body stance, the flow of your mana, how would the said skill works, and also the result of your skill. With my copper skin skill, I imagine my mana to reconstruct my own skin."

"I start by emitting my mana to the skin surface level and move it with a particular rune pattern turning my skin harder than it should be. So instead of creating rune and supply it with mana, I move my mana to recreate the rune at the same time. The advantages of this method are obviously faster skill execution and more efficient.

"The disadvantages of this, your skill would only affect the thing you apply your rune on. For me, I use my own skin as a media so the skill affects my skin. Due to this, some skills are restricted to other methods as they would cause more harm when you cast in with this method."

"Now try to move your mana following various kinds of patterns. This training would make it easier for you when you create your skill later. Moving mana in a certain pattern is harder than it seems. And this method also allows no rooms of errors as you do all in 1 stroke. Failing to cast your skill in the middle of the skill could cost you your life; so do this training seriously."

"Some expert mage can execute their other skill using this method due to how proficient they are at controlling their mana. They force their mana to lingers just long enough for them to finish drawing their spell rune in an empty space."

More than half of the class brain lost in space after the longwinded explanation Mr. Hubert gave them. In Albert's group, James couldn't keep up with the complexity of the lesson; Kana survive it due to Anna helping her step by step while Alice is a lost cause and can only try her best not to sleep in the class. Albert fares better as he loves to dive deep into the game mechanic dissecting how things work and how things interact in a game.
