Chapter 10 - 10.Puppet Mastery

At this time Alice and Kana dizziness have already gone as she finishes absorbing the knowledge that she got from their new mastery. They finish almost simultaneously even tough Alice start first.

"What are you guys talking about? Have you choose your mastery already" Alice asked

"I have not. I know you'll be pissed if I choose it without you."

"So what is it about status being super-duper important or something?" Kana cut joining the conversation

Albert re-explaining things that he and James just discussed to both of the girls while they listen and try to understand it as best as they could.

"So, in conclusion, the status is what determining factor that can affect everything should be careful about distributing it. It's like a foundation of a building if you build a skewed foundation than it would not be strong enough to deal with the wind that blows." Kana drew a conclusion after Albert finish explaining

"And James should keep his 1 free stats and distributed it once he sure what stats he should raise next, right?" Alice adds a valid argument on top of Kana's conclusion.

"For now yes. Now let see what are my potential mastery are and goes straight home after I choose it. I don't want to hear mom nags about how that we're not helping her preparing feast for dad."

After looking at Albert's potential mastery list Kana looks at him with pity in her eyes. She thought that she had the worst luck but it turns out Albert has 1 less potential mastery to choose compare to her.

"Oh, you also got a rare mastery. Are you going to take that?" Alice asked excitedly

"The only useful one you can take with your current stats are that rare puppet mastery. Bow-mastery would be useless as you already have Instrument Mastery and on top of that I can't imagine someone in your state would shot an arrow then ran to another position. " James adding some salt to Albert wound

"Why does he have to move to another position after shooting an arrow? Can he just shoot one after another until the enemy died or something?" with a confused look Kana look at Albert waiting for an explanation.

Without even a need for any more hints Albert starts explaining as to why bow mastery is kinda useless for him.

"Well if we are following general game logic bow and arrow usually lack power compared to others weapon. To cover that flaw, game developer creates so that all monster has some kind of weakness that player can exploit to deal more damage."

"In a perfect world maybe you can shoot arrow continuously from 1 spot, but you can't expect the enemy would just stand there and let you shoot them right? So people who use bow and arrow have to continuously move to get a better position and stuff."

"Too bad it was a bow mastery if it was a gun mastery or something I would pick it so that I can have an offensive option but a bow is just too complicated for me. And that puppet mastery seems to interesting to me and it's also a rare mastery so I guess it's not that bad. Well here goes nothing"

Albert uses 2 of my free stats and raises his int to meet the requirement to learn puppet mastery. He stopped for a second before information about the mastery flows into his brain. To his surprise the dizziness that Alice and Kana's experience never come to him.

'I got all the information about the mastery in only 5 seconds, not even a bit nauseousness or dizziness coming my way. That's weird is there some kind of problem?'

"It finishes already? How come there's no nauseousness that both of you talk about when learning the mastery?"

"Is it because of the mastery is a rare mastery? But I learn a very rare one and not only I get a headache. It also took me longer than Kana" Alice grumble at the system unfairness

"Maybe it's different each mastery depends on how complex the information that the mastery has. For example, when we go through the awakening process this morning some people took more time than others."

"You're saying that because of my summon mastery; The awakening process take me a whole 13 minute while it only took you 9 minute?" James confirming Albert theory

"It does actually make sense. Alice is out for less than 6 minutes and she got no mastery whatsoever. And although I passed out longer compare to Albert there's not that much difference between the two of us. By the way, what do you learn from that puppet mastery? Can you make a puppet or something and use it to fight?" Kana said backing up Albert theory

"No, I learn the general description about it and the rest is kinda blurry. It said that I can have 1 puppet bound to me and I can summon them went I want to. It has its own stats and it can grow stronger and can level up. And it said that the puppet is alive and has a consciousness so it's more like a normal pet and not soulless object."

"You can summon them? Quick summon it so I can see the cute puppet." Alice jumped next to her brother

Albert closes his eyes and with the knowledge that he acquired from learning puppet mastery he tries to summon his new puppet.

"SNAKE????!!!!!"Both girls scream at the same time causing Kana's mom who's been spying from outside the room took aback.

She burst into Kana's room looking worried at her surroundings.

"What happened? Why are you girls screaming? Is anybody hurt?"

Albert scratched his head while James explaining what happened and he even goes further and tells her all about the experiment. Kana's mom takes all the information and sighs her relief at the end of it.

From her reaction, Albert assumes that she knew about the experiment but she doesn't know the details about it. She holds Kana's hand and asks her a lot of questions about her experience. The group end up spending half an hour chatting with Kana's mom and told her all about our experience. I asked her about what does she know about the experiment because she seems not so surprised about this and she said that she'll explain it tomorrow after my father coming back. I look at the clock and decided it was time to go home.

"Wait, where is the snake that you summon before?" Alice remembers about his brother puppet snake that came out before Kana's mom burst in

"You want to see it? I thought you're scared of it"

"I'm not scared of it. That was just reflex." the little sister argue

"Sure," Albert said moving his right hand

Albert's hand gesture reveals a white snakehead pop out from his jacket sleeve. His hand gesture somehow causing his comlink to activate and 2 notification appears on it. Albert looks at his comlink and sees 2 of his tabs appear to be highlighted. He opens the status tab with his left hand while everyone still focusing on the snake that suddenly appears on his hand. Alice is hiding behind James and only her head can be seen, Kana is holding her mom's hand with both of her hands, James look at the snake curiously and Katherine (Kana's Mom) observes the snake but didn't seem scared of it.
