Chapter 542 - Saying goodbye Part 2

Then again he would not mind it even if she did. Lyn has held a lot of things back and remained considerate of him. "Do you remember that boat ride when I caught you spying on me?"

Lyn pouted at his words. "I wasn't spying!"

"Then stalking."

A deep sigh crossed her lips. "I was just worried about you. Back then you acted so strangely." Lyn trailed off and turned to him. "Kazuya, I think I will miss you a lot."

"You think huh?"

Lyn did not say anything for a few minutes but then he hears her hum a familiar melody.

"Life is short.

Love maiden.

Before your red lips fade.

Before your hot blood grows cold.

There is no time tomorrow.

Life is short.

Love Maiden.

Now grasp his hand

into his boat.

Now the burning cheek

is your cheek.

There is no one that

..will come here.

Life is short.

Love Maiden.

Drift on the waves.

Like a boat.

Place your soft hand.

..on my shoulder.

There are no eyes to see us here.

Life is short.

Love Maiden.

Before the colour

of your dark hair

fades.

Before the fire

of your heart

disappears.

Today is something

that will not

come again. " Lyn sang.

If only he could stay here with her for longer. But Kazuya knew that it would eventually be dawn. Soon he would have to leave her side again.

His gaze moved on to the girls cheek and noticed the small scratch. Kazuya blinked. When did she get hurt?

"Lyn, what happened to you there?"

"There?"

"Below your eye."

"Oh...last night's mission got a bit out of hand." Lyn trailed off, as she placed her hand on the injury.

Kazuya sensed the girl's voice, and stood up.

"It can't be helped then. I will fix you up."

"W--ait a minute Kazuya?"

Kazuya rummaged through his bag. " Though I can't heal like the royal family or Rhys. I do keep a few medical supplies here."

"That's not what I meant."

"Yeah yeah. Now stay still." Kazuya said, and took out the necessary stuff before he put some ointment on the girls face. He grabs a clutch and spreads the rest of the ointment on it and started to dab it across the wound.

It looks like a finger nail scratch. But he knew the wound was deeper than that. This girl is far too careless. Rhys needs to watch over her carefully when he leaves. What if she gets seriously hurt? The moment he leaves Lethia will most likely make a move.

"Nao-san?"

"Nothing." Kazuya trailed off. "You look weird"

Lyn hits his shoulders but sighed.

If she used spells then it would have been a one hit shot. Its been a year or so now so Nao thought she would be used to her sword by now. But it seems like when she's deep in thought she still relies on her spelled too much. They've known each other for so long now, and he's watched her for so long. She really has come a along way and he knew she was stronger now. But that didn't stop him in wanting to protect her.

Protect huh?

He wondered since when did he have such thoughts of wanting to protect someone. Since

"Be careful." Kazuya said, as his gaze locked on hers for a split second before he sighs, and takes out the bandages and trimmed it slightly. Before placing it on the spot of the wound.

"Don't hesitate when you swing your sword."

He let go of her, and she flinched.

The girl tried to avoid making eye contact with him. " I..I didn't hesitate."

"I became a member like I wanted to. I could finally have the strength to help everyone. But I...." Lyn trailed off as she bit her lip.

Kazuya sensed her unease and fear and sighed.

"You don't have to say it. It's fine if you don't explain it." Kazuya said. That's right she doesn't have to, because he can probably already tell what"s going on in her mind. "Just don't die is all. It's for you to solve on your own."

"Yeah."

Silence loomed on them for a few minutes as they watched the rain.

'Free to love whoever I choose with no endless lessons and excessive clothes and jewels and a simple lifestyle.

I would be able to climb trees and dance around the place without feeling like a disgrace and perhaps I would be more helpful in terms of hunting and chores.

There would be no need to constantly look behind my back for malicious intent, no suitors who would pursue me for power, wealth and fame and see me for me, no one else. Not a title or the heir to the throne... Just Lyn. '

A person like that huh.

That could be anyone, it would include any of the guys who like her. Since they've never once wanted such things of her at all. But Kazuya knew it wasn't as simple as that. Even though they all have such qualities.

The last one, is the most important out of everything. It's definitely the most important one. If that's the case then, that person.... Kazuya shook his head.

Lyn likes Rhys a lot so he doesn't have to worry about them this much. They will be fine even without him.

Kazuya leaned forward and pulled Lyn into his arms. "There is something I need to say to you, listen carefully okay?"

"Okay, me too. This time," Lyn mumbled. "Please listen."

Kazuya had never actually thought about it before. About the two being away from each other. Because ever since then he came here he had remained by her side. He had remained by her side for as long a he could remember and after that incidence, they were hardly apart from each other for long.

That's why when he heard her decision, he felt strange. Yes that's the only word that could be used to describe what he felt then. Strange. It was strange, it felt as though all of his emotions were mixed up.

'I have to leave her now, but she already left him a long time ago.' Kazuya increased his hold on her. 'Just a bit, I will hold her like I did before.'
