Chapter 515 - I was serious

Rhys would have liked to continue doing that with Lyn but unfortunately before he could do anything else two annoying people appeared. The first one to march over was Lyns overprotective aide Pupilliam.

"Princess Lyn!" Pupillam exclaimed. "Didn't I warn you before? You have to be careful about men like this."

Lyn sweat fell. "But wouldn't it be odd if we didn't kiss at all? We are in a relationship."

Pupillam shook her head. "I never said you couldn't but that man was after something else."

Ralph chuckled. "Now, now it's quite interesting."

"Sir Ralph doesn't approve of this. The Princess is still young--"

Rhys sighed and spoke up. "Quit it, even if she is young it is up to her to make her own decisions. Don't treat her like a doll."

Lyn tugged on his hand and he sighed again. "You shouldn't let her baby you too much."

"Pupillam is only concerned."

Well even he understood that much. Pupillam is worried about Lyn, she is the one person who stood by the lonely Princess for so many years. Though the general knew her longer and Prince Ralph - the one who helped Lyn and pull her along this entire time is Pupillam. Rhys was sure if it were not for this woman then Lyn would have ended her life a long time ago.

Rhys watched as Pupillam kept nagging but Lyn was laughing happily. Well, he supposes he can let this be. Besides her concern is normal. Right after Kazuya and Lyn broke up, he started that odd relationship with her but still saw other women. Naturally nobody would think he was serious about Lyn.

This girl people said was lonely and had nobody to rely on, the ugly and wicked woman? He cant see it at all. She is surrounded by so many people who care about her. Actually Rhys noticed it a long time ago. When he first came to the area where she was staying, Rhys noticed it was a barrier not meant to restrict her from leaving but to keep unwanted intruders out. A beautiful garden like area with flowers well tended. Sure the room was in shambles and a mess but the environment outside was subtly cared for.

The guards picked to watch over her on the surface looked like normal guards. But after he investigated a little he learned they were from the Queen's personal knights. Lyn probably didn't realize it since the guards deliberately act frivolous.

That girl is so well protected and loved that it is frightening. Rhys also learned what Queen Orthez did to anyone who bad mouthed her daughter. She wouldn't bat an eyelid torturing the servants let alone other nobles. When Rhys thought about it, it frightened even him. There are all those bad rumors about Lyn, so many people have gossiped. Did the Queen really silence everybody?

"Unreasonable." Lyn mumbled when he pulled away.

"No just possessive." He pulled away from her and turned to the blue haired man. "Did you find it?"

Ralph nodded. "I did."

Pupillam sighed. "Prince Ralph please take this seriously."

Rhys looked at the two puzzled before he focused on Pupillam. The girl seemed oddly distressed. Could it be the item is in a strange location?

Lyn spoke up. "The lava mountain?"

Ralph beamed. "As expected of my pupil, you know if very well."

The lava mountain? No matter how much knowledge he has about other Kingdoms. There are places in the Mist Kingdom that are unknown to him.

"I will explain things to Rhys. Master could you pull up a barrier and Pupillam could you guard him?"

Rhys blinked when he heard Lyn's words. Huh? Sure normal mages need guarding when casting high level magic but they all know this guy isnt normal. Pupillam looked quite upset but she sighed.

"Be careful not to catch a cold."

Lyn laughed. "I understand."

Is she trying to spend time with him? Rhys watched as the two quickly left leaving him alone with Lyn. The moment they left Lyn slumped into his arms. Rhys eyes widened and the girl sighed deeply. "I've missed you."

He stared at the girl speechless and her gaze darkened. Rhys quickly wrapped his arms around her waist. "Sorry, I didnt think.."

"Again with the no confidence thing." Lyn mumbled.

It's not like he isn't confident or anything. But its more to do with the fact that he still has to adapt to this peculiar relationship. His gaze fell on the girl who was holding him tightly. "Are you going to explain things to me? You know while we take a stroll to the mountain."

Her eyes brightened and the girl seemed much happier. "Yes."

He hugged her for a few extra seconds before letting go and they resumed the walk. Rhys didn't know where he was going so he was mainly following Lyns lead.

"Now that we are alone, I thought..."

Rhys sighed. "I'm not that much of a fool. Besides you..." He trailed his fingers against her lips. "...don't feel very well right?"

Lyn covered her mouth and laughed softly. "Well, that would be your fault."

A troubled expression appeared on his face but Lyn seemed happy. This girl is getting weirder as each day goes by. He moved away from her and continued to walk in front of her.

"Hey Rhys, can I ask you something?"

"What?"

"Why are you always with me? Aren't you busy?"

At that comment Rhys felt very uncomfortable. 'How can I tell her that I make time for and push away loads of work deliberately.'

"Rhys you make so much of an effort for me."

"Well you are my future wife."

Lyn laughed again. "Your really serious about that?"

"Of course."

It is too late for him to back down.

His thoughts broke off when he felt Lyn hug him from the back. Her dainty arms wrapped around his waist tightly. Rhys clenched his fist. It seems she has already sensed his change in emotions. Earlier this morning he received a rather disturbing letter from home.

"Rhys, it's okay..." She mumbled. "Talk to me."

Rhys didn't know where to start but after she said those words he had to tell her.

"I see, a letter huh from home."

"Well I figured the elders decided to ask my family because they can't get through to me."

"You've been ignoring..."

"Just short replies." He couldn't ignore them completely.

Lyn hugged him tightly and his heart felt like it would melt. "Your clingy today."

"You hate it?"

Of course he doesn't. Rhys mumbled against her hair. "I just want you to know in advance. It will be troublesome when they come here."

"Mmm, I understand. But it's okay, I have to introduce myself."

"Your okay with meeting them?"

"Well you just said that I'm your future wife, I'll have to meet them eventually."

'She says that but she looks hesitant.' Rhys cupped her cheeks. "Lyn." He mumbled. "Perhaps..."

"Were not breaking up."

"Are you sure?"

"I thought it through. Sure this relationship is odd. But I was serious when I said I liked you."
