Chapter 501 - Red Stained Memories Part

When she is about to stand up, Rhys tells her there is still dessert. Dessert this early in the morning? Lyn however did not bother questioning him and sat back down. Rhys placed a gentle kiss on her cheeks.

"What um are you doing?"

"Greeting."

T--this is hid idea of a greeting now? What a shameless man. Then again is it not her fault for allowing him to get away with this behaviour. If she used her authority as a Princess, Lyn knew that not even Rhys would try something on her. But the problem is, is that what she wants? Lyn did not know anymore.

Still, Lyn leaned forward to kiss him back.

"Mm, good girl."

"You need to stop teasing me." Lyn mumbled. "We are already dating, why are you still behaving so shamelessly?"

"Ah my Princess. It seems like you have no idea. I am holding back right now. If you want real shameless behaviour however I could do something indecent to you right here." His lips graze against her earlobe and Lyn felt him lick there. One of his hands was on her lap. "Do you understand the meaning of being shameless yet, Princess Lyn?"

"I do, quit being a tease."

Rhys kissed her neck. "I was a bit disappointed in your choice."

"My choice?" Lyn repeated.

"Yeah. I thought you would suggest having breakfast together in the room. So I could flirt with you."

Isn't he already doing that now? What more does this man wan-- yn shuddered when she felt him bite her neck. "Rhys, please don't do this here."

"I wont do anything you don't like."

She knows that already. But sometimes it feels like

While they're waiting she glances over at him. It is a little strange to be with a guy whose face is naturally so close to hers. It feels more familiar, no more intimate than having to look up all the time. Recently it feels like she has had a mini growth spirit.

"Say Rhys?"

"Yeah?"

"Do you truly not want to be King?" Lyn asked.

Rhys pulled away from her and sighed. He ran his hands through his hair. "I think you understand this already Lyn. But I am not the King type."

"Don't you think I am in the same situation?" Lyn argued.

Despite how many times she snuck out. It does not change the fact that she lived an isolated lifestyle for so many years. "You said it yourself, if the heir is based on skill alone I would lose to my brother." She trailed off and realized something. "Wouldnt I lose to my sister as well?"

"You wouldn't lose to her. The First Princess has developed her skills and excels in all fields. But her relationship with the commoners is terrible. She looks down on them and treats them like dirt. Sure this is normal behaviour for a noble, but she even treats the knights with disrespect. Even if you belong to a different class doing, a certain degree of respect is needed."

"I see."

Rhys picked up his cup and sipped on it. "If the First Princess and First Prince were to work as a team then you would lose."

"Work as a team?"

"Yes, because they could balance their flaws and strengths together. A dual leadership isn't impossible. So if you don't think you can handle it, then it would better if you ask your brother for advice. I am sure that he won't mind helping you." Rhys trailed off. "When I first met the First Prince he was very hostile. I understand now that conversation was for show. He was indirectly telling me to stay away from his precious sister."

"From eldest sister?"

Rhys sighed. "From you."

Ah… wait from her? Lyn recalled that conversation very well. After Rhys left, brother remained in a bad mood for the rest of the meal. Lyn traced his lips. "I see, so brother wanted me to stay away from you."

"Mmm, I'm dangerous and uncivilized."

Dangerous yes -- but it is not like she can't control him. This man behaves in this unscrupulous and shameful way. But Lyn understood how loyal he was. He is the loyal type who would devote himself to his lover. This was one of the many things she liked about him.

"I want some of that." She pointed to the stuff on his plate.

Rhys chuckled and extended his spoon out. "So obedient. Well, I do hope you can relax for the next few days."

"Next few days? I thought we would return in the afternoon."

"You won't be able to relax then. Staying for a few days is better than a day. Besides if your worried about work, don't be. Prince Allen can handle the  paperwork. You can do some legwork."

"Were going to investigate?" Lyn asked.

Rhys nodded. "Yeah, sorry to do this now but…"

"No, I am glad." She trailed off. "This must be the first time we are working together properly."

"The first time?"

"Up till now you've never involved me in any investigations. You didn't openly push me away from them like Kazuya. But you would not let me join them either." Lyn trailed off. "Like Allen you seemed to value my opinion, and you did not treat me like glass."

Rhys understood a long time ago that Lyn did not want people to treat her like a Princess. Even though they have announced her identity now, it is all formalities. What the actual person wants even now is something different. So this is where Prince Allen went wrong. He should have skipped over the formalities and treated her as Lyn rather than a Princess. If Prince Allen did that then the one who would be on a trip now with Lyn would not be him.

'I am picking up after somebody's mistake and yet I am happy about it.'

Whenever it came to Lyn, Rhys felt like the biggest fool of all. But he would rather be a fool if it means he could take her hand like this.
