Chapter 488 - What if she doesn't want you?

Rhys didn't want to leave her side for even a moment. But he had no choice since the First Prince summoned him. 'I left her with Lady Penelope but…' Rhys sighed, in the end he can't help but worry about her. Is she going to be okay in that state? It seems not even Lady Penelope's legendary magic can help Lyn. Then who else can? Does he have to do it?

But if he uses his full magic capabilities here then the people back home would…

The stone castle of Prince Ralph's private residence wasn't as grand as the main castle. But it was still grand. Rhys sat uncomfortably waiting for the man. Why did he call him out here if he will be late?

After a few minutes Rhys got bored and found himself looking through the paperwork on the desk. None of the reports were anything he could use but Rhys filled them in anyway.

After emersing himself with paperwork, eventually Prince Andrew arrived. He seemed amused. "Is it interesting?"

Rhys sighed. "Don't call out to me if you're going to be late."

"So what are you doing?

"I decided to read more about the north."

Andrew gave an encouraging smile. "Excellent! Now I don't need to worry about you following my men to the north."

Rhys raised his eyebrow. Does this man truly want to continue using him? Well whatever, it would do him some good to get the extra experience.

"I will leave for a bit and these are some of the duties I am passing to you. I trust you will do well to follow things through." Andrew took the bottle of wine from the tray and opened one into one of the cups.

"How about a toast, Prince Rhys? Today, you sounded more like a royal prince. I am pleased to see you doing your best."

Sarcasm laced through his words but Rhys didn't get angry. "Hmmm." Rhys finally took a long sip from his wine cup.

'It's not poisoned.' Then again Prince Andrew wouldn't be stupid enough to poison him in his own manned.

"The citizens in your country have placed all their expectations on you and Kazuya. It seems if you don't meet those expectations, you'll be punished. Are you still adamant about choosing Lyn as your bride?"

"I want no one else. I will not leave Lyn."

He already made his mind up. He won't have anybody else but her.

"What if she doesn't want you?" Andrew whispered.

Rhys flinched when he heard those words. Just hearing it from another person bothered him greatly.

"I am giving her plenty of opportunity to get to know me before I formally ask her for her hand."

Rhys lifted his head, and met the First Prince gaze.  "But if..if.. she doesn't want me in the end. I want to make sure that whoever she chooses to stay by her side will treat her the way I treated her."

That's right, if it can't be him. He will make sure that the one who is beside her; is someone who can love her as much as him. There are already plenty of other candidates for such a role; however unless they show her eternal commitment he would not be able to give up easily.

"I wonder if you can do that."

Rhys frowned. "Is this why you called out to me?"

Prince Andrew sighed. "Of course. While I had other things to discuss, I am Lyn's brother first before a Prince."

"Hah, it's hilarious to hear you say something like that."

Lyn's brother first before his status as a Prince? Him of all people saying something like that.

Rhys thought he would make an angry remark but instead Prince Andrew looked at him amused. "What is so funny?"

"I was testing you. But it seems like there is no need to. You will not betray Lyn."

You will not attack the Mist Kingdom.

To Rhys that is what it sounded like. Indeed, he can't deny those words. Rhys raised the glass. "So now that you confirmed that I am in love with your sister and will not harm her. What else do you want to say?"

...........

Rhys did not want to spend anymore time with Prince Andrew and decided to leave mid-way the conversation. That person did not stop him. But Rhys did not miss his sinister looking smile. That man is plotting something again, and yet that request of his. It is something he could do but what is the catch?

He re-entered the room and found no sign of that annoying red head. Is Lyn sleeping-- Rhys paused in mid thought when he noticed something. Lyn was not asleep but she was sat down on the bed and looking out of the window.

"What are you doing?" Rhys frowned. "It's cold by the window."

"I was waiting for you."

"Hmmm, I see. Still, you should close the window." He walked over to the bed and sat down. He leaned forward and shut the window.

Rhys loosened his robes and pulled the girl back down onto the bed.

"What did Penelope say?"

"Uh that I'm..."

Huh why is she blushing?

Could it be something to do with him? Rhys looked at the girl again and noticed that she was rambling. She ended up with a random fever again. The last time it was to do with their magic synchronizing due to their intimate actions. Is it something similar this time too?

Normally he would tease her. But today he was tired and wanted to relax. That talk with Prince Andrew exhausted him. He turned to the blushing girl and kissed her cheeks softly. "I wont do anything tonight, so lets relax and talk."

"Even if you say talk. I don't have much to say."

Rhys blinked and chuckled. "Weren't you talking a lot earlier?"

"It feels strange talking about Allen in front of you. You get jealous easily."

"Only if you did something questionable."

"Well, why would I? I belong to you now."

So if she didn't belong to him would she do something questionable with her fiance? Rhys shook his head. Even back then there was no s.e.x.u.a.l attraction between them, so he has nothing to worry about.

"Are you getting used to me? You said before that you had to bare with it."
