Chapter 433 - Web Of Lies Part 6

*UNEDITED*

No, it's more like the past and the present were colliding with each other too much? Either way, it's already too lat. Too late to pretend that nothing between them has happened. It's far too late for him to go back to being content with just simply watching over her.

And it's exactly because he can no longer go back to those times. That the second he fully recovers, he's going straight back to work. Because, despite it almost being a year. Aren't these moves of theirs far too shallow?

Even so, perhaps staying like this for awhile longer is fine.

Rhys knew that his other work would pile up in his absence. When he recovers, he would have more work then before, however - there's a good substitute for him near by.

His thoughts broke off, when the doors slid open revealing purple hair. When he saw her modest looking clothing though he paused. Is it just him or lately does

"Ah! Your awake."

"Yeah."

As he watched the purple hair girl take the cloth from his hands and begins to wash it, Rhys decided to ask her straight up. " …Say, you why did you hide it from me?"

"Hide what?"

"Hide the fact that it's been Lyn coming here," Rhys muttered. He doesn't know why Beth of all people would hide that information. But,

The purple hair girl was silent for a moment before nodding, "It's because she requested that of me."

Requested huh. He doesn't understand why Lyn would do something as troublesome as that.

But, he asking for a reason up front wouldn't be any good either. He supposed it was fine like this for the mean time. If Lyn wants to play this anonymous game then so be it. Two can play that game.

Rhys quickly realized how petty he was acting. 'What game?' Next time Lyn comes over, he ought yo confront her directly.

"Then, I'll also request something of you. Make sure that she doesn't know that I know already."

Beth smiles, "What a troublesome duo. But it appears as though, we really are being pulled in by you two."

Heh.

The warmth of her hand, despite it being small contact strangely comforted him. Even now Haruka couldn't forget the warmth of that hand. Next time she comes, he ought to confront her and then explain it properly.

"But you know Rhys, if it's just concerning your feelings towards Princess Lyn. I believe just telling her directly would work."

"What do you mean?"

Beth pulled a face before she mumbled, "Actually, I heard how Kazyya confessed to her and how they started dating. He just went ahead and told her. Being completely up front with her works you know?"

Rhys lifts the cup to his lips he paused before he took a sip, "Up front huh?"

Indeed the actions so far is not what anyone would call 'up front'. It always seemed to be indirect despite their intimacy with each other. Because Rhys felt as though if he said it, then all the feelings from the past would come rushing in. This is the present and although the past influences the present, he didn't want the reason for his feelings for her now to be because of the past.

"Princess Lyn is a complicated person to love I'm sure. And it does appear as though your all having a difficult time because of it, however you are all missing the point here. In the end the one who will suffer the most is her when making the decision. And in the end of the day, it doesn't change the fact that she's just a teenage girl."

The red head was surprised to hear those words from someone else aside from himself. But his lips curved into a smile, "Well that's true."

It was those words that he managed to persuade the main fraction to let her attend a normal school like Iro road in the first place. Because no matter how strong and powerful she is. In the end of the day it doesn't change the fact that she's a normal girl. Underneath everything, she's a normal teenage girl and it's because of that - that he's focussing more on protecting the girls present.

"Hey, when is Lyn coming here today?"

...

It was past midnight when Lyn came. Rhys thought she would show up earlier. For the last few days, he memorized the time she came. Did something happen to her? He was sitting out on the porch smoking when she came.

"Rhys, you're still awake," a familiar voice mumbled softly breaking his thoughts.

Rhys looked over and spotted a girl wearing a white western looking sleep wear. "What about you? Why are you awake at this hour?" Rhys questioned.

He recently hears of Kazuya's illness. The fools arm huh? It really does seem as though its something hard to cure. But, he wasn't a witch doctor for no reason. He will find a solution, rather then it being for the boys sake though it's more to do with hers.

Lyn played with the blanket around her fingers, watching the ground. "I had a nightmare," she mumbled quietly. However Rhys heard her loud and clear.

"Is that so?" Rhys pretend to be indifferent. But when he hears how feeble her voice is. It took him everything to stop himself from hugging her. He needs to slowly distance himself from her. If that person finds out that Lyn and him are still meeting then...

Rhys shook his head, he can't over think it.

He took a long drag from the pipe, "What do you want me to do about it?"

"I know your still injured. But I don't want to be alone."

Right, there was that incident not too long ago. She must feel afraid still. Even though Lyn is stronger and confident. 'She's strong, so she could probably fend of any attacker.' But Rhys supposes it's normal.

"And so?"

"Can I stay here?" Lyn requested.

Rhys almost choked on his pipe when he hears her absurd sounding request. Then again she did this last time too. Doesn't she remember that time? Why is she letting her guard down like a fool first?
