Chapter 255 - New Start

The month before the end in the Mist Kingdom was frigid. Even though there is a good month left until the end of the year. It did not change how cold the weather was. Her thoughts broke off when she saw Kazuya with a group of Knights. 'Ah, that's right.' Lyn thought. A new group of Knights arrived here from the academy recently. According to her eldest brother, this was preparation for her identity to be revealed. Lyn didn't know how to feel still. Her identity, huh? If people find out that there is another potential candidate to the throne, then there will undoubtedly be a riot. It's already bad enough that the current head, Mother has four children alive and well.

Usually, having that many candidates ensure a stable bloodline. However, in this case, it's a terrible situation. All these candidates have different fathers, so it will lead to a different set of problems.

"I've never seen so much snow before."

"Living in the main city is so cool!"

"Don't you think the same Kazuya?" the one with dust blonde hair said enthusiastically.

Kazuya shook his head, "I'll pass. I don't like the Snow."

"Huh? That's a shame."

Ah, come to think of it Kazuya said that before too. "Kazuya?" Lyn called out. She didn't want to disturb him when he was with his friends. But, she wanted to make sure he ate and took his medicine.

Kazuya looked up and smiled, "Hey, my Lyn."

Ah, did he tell them? Lyn walked over, and Kazuya hugged her tightly. "You always have a nice scent on you."

"Don't sniffle me in public, it's embarrassing."

"Yes, yes, my Princess."

"Did you take your medicine?"

Kazuya nodded, "Mm, I did. You're so warm and look so cute today."

Lyn wanted to hit him, even if he did tell his friends she is still the Princess. The two were looking over.

"Wow, it's really true."

"A knight and the Princess… I gotta hand it to him…hes amazing."

Her sweat fell; she didn't expect this type of reaction. "Um, your friends?"

"Yeah," Kazuya smiled and motioned the two over.

"This is from the Orlo household from Katn," he pointed to the dusty blonde hair man. He reminded Lyn of somebody, but she couldn't quite recall just yet.

"And this bookworm guy is a squire called Arthur.."

Ah, "Nice to meet you both; thank you for looking after Kazuya."

"The more I look, the more I think those rumors are nasty. She's so pretty. Those people are going to get the shock of their lives."

Arthur nodded, "I think so too."

They must be talking about the ugly rumors. Then again, she always wore a veil whenever she went out with Allen. So isn't it only natural to assume that she was hiding something?

"Isn't that Rhys?"

"Ah," Lyn peeked up.

Indeed it was Rhys, but he wasn't alone. Lyn could spot a woman latched to his arm. 'Since that time, he does this a lot.' Lyn thought. Walk around the castle grounds with different women.

"Rhys," Kazuya called out, "Are you free later on? Dinner?"

"Hmm? That's not like you."

Kazuya laughed, "But hasn't it been awhile. Can't we?"

"Well, alright."

…..

7:00 PM

Lyn looked blankly at Rhys who sat on the seat opposite her. "Sorry, I'm late Ka---" he paused, "Lyn?"

"Ah, uh…?" Lyn looked at Rhys, confused. Didn't Kazuya tell her that their dinner plans were canceled so that he could take her out instead? "Kazuya said… Wait, I'll call him."

Rhys sighed, "He probably won't answer. Let's eat."

"O--okay."

"Unless you have other places to be?"

Other places? She had some lessons today. But because Kazuya asked her out for a meal, she skipped them. "I don't, um…"

"I'll order," Rhys said and called for the waiter.

"Yes."

Somehow this is very awkward; she doesn't know what to think right now. Lyn didn't understand why Rhys has been avoiding her since that time. But, she had to admit that she did miss him. So seeing him now, she didn't know what to think - no seeing him now she felt very overwhelmed.

"Don't cry stupid."

"Wahhhh," Lyn sobbed. "Why have you been ignoring me? Did I do something wrong, Rhys?"

Rhys clicked his tongue and raised his hand; Lyn hears the door shut. Rhys stood up and pulled her into his arms. "Quit crying; you did nothing wrong. I'm just giving you and Kazuya some space."

"Space?"

"He was acting up. I couldn't just leave him be. You have to understand Lyn."

He must really treasure his friendship with Kazuya. Lyn thought she already understood that before, but now she is starting to see it in a different light. "I don't like being ignored; I thought you didn't care about me anymore."

"Of course not!" Rhys exclaimed. His sudden sharp tone surprised her. A deep sigh escaped his lips, "You have no idea how much I've been holding back just to see you. Before I could see you every day whenever I wanted, but suddenly I couldn't, do you know how that made me feel?"

"Err, so I get that you missed me, but what are your hands doing?" At some point, his hands had started fondling her b.r.e.a.s.ts.

Rhys blinked, "Well, I saw them, so I thought, why not."

"Idiot! pervert!" Lyn moved away from him, and Rhys smiled.

"You missed me?"

"Who misses you, idiot!"

She didn't! Not really, Lyn felt Rhys take a strand of her hair, and he gently kissed it. "I've missed you a lot, but I will stay away for a bit longer."

"But I…"

Rhys shook his head, "Focus on Kazuya."

But what about him? Isn't he hurt? Doesn't he want to stay by her? Why does she have to choose one person? She already missed the days where it was the three of them. When did things become so complicated?

"Nnngh--!"

"Lyn, god…." Rhys mumbled against her lips, "I shouldn't do this to you anymore. But I…."

Rhys sentence fell short when the doors opened. Lyn immediately knew who it was and pushed Rhys of her, "Kazuya!"

Kazuya said nothing but walked away.

She immediately chased after him and buried her face in his back. "Kazuya, don't be angry. Please...I…"

"Mmm, you two are talking again. Isn't that good? You've missed him, right?"

Lyn bit her lip, so he noticed? "Don't hate me," she mumbled. "I want things to return to how they were before. I know it's difficult Kazuya. But…" her sentence fell short when she felt Rhys tug on her arm.

"Don't blame Lyn; she hasn't done anything wrong. I'm okay, so you two be happy."

At that comment, Kazuya spot up, his gaze dim. "You're always like that. I know how much you like her. Why are you suddenly giving her up so easily?"

"Because of you dumbass."

"Forget about me!"

Lyn looked at the two back and forth and laughed, "Um… You both sound so stupid."

The two of them are both thinking of each other's happiness over their own. Lyn clapped her hands, "I have a better suggestion? Do you mind?"

The two guys looked at her and pulled away from each other.
