Chapter 225 - Knowledge

Year 4014 Mist Kingdom - Forbidden workshop-

"Hey, is it okay for us to be here?" Kazuya asked cautiously looking around. After they dropped off the books to the library, Lyn brought him to this place. Kazuya only heard about it when he came here, the forbidden workshop.

"Don't worry, mentor told me it's okay for me to come here anytime," Lyn said as she raised her hand towards the draws. A glow surrounded her palm, and soon the cabinet and drawers opened.

"These…"

"Ah-huh, you can use anything here to forge weapons. Rather this is one of the main places in the Mist Kingdom to forge weaponry."

"And uhh, Lyn don't you realize I'm from an enemy Kingdom… Why did you bring me here?" His girlfriend's actions dumbfounded Kazuya. Surely, she isn't this stupid right?

Lyn rolled her eyes, "You don't have to worry. I only use this place."

"Huh?"

"Well, if you haven't noticed it was quite a distance away. Nobody would care to come this way."

Is that the reason? Either way, "What are we doing here?"

"Kazuya, didn't you say you wanted to work on fixing your sword?"

Kazuya recalled his broken blade and sighed. Naturally, after fighting so much, it would get damaged. But quite some time has passed since he last saw it in such a beat upstate.

"Lyn, do you come here often?"

"Ah-huh, I'm good at forging swords," Lyn turned to him, "Give me your sword, I'll see what's wrong with it."

"Are you sure?"

"Huh, your good at this."

Lyn laughed, " Thank you for the praise."

She looks so pleased whenever he compliments her. Kazuya stood begin her and wrapped his arms around her.

"Kazuya?"

"A reward," he mumbled against her ear, "These last two days, sorry I couldn't come to see you."

"What's your excuse?"

'Excuse, eh,' "Collapsing and falling asleep after I'm done with work."

"Ah-huh, I know that. I asked Pupillam to fetch you several times."

Did she? He didn't know that. Rhys, he probably hid it from him, "Lyn, have you spoken to Rhys lately?"

"Um," Lyn flinched, "Kazuya, I don't think he would want to talk to me."

"Huh? Why?"

"That's um, he knows we did that so.."

Kazuya blinked confused. It took him a few minutes to register what Lyn just said to him. Rhys found out? How? He didn't blab, and he doubts Lyn did either. Lyn quickly explained to him, and Kazuya sighed, "I didn't think.."

"Ah-huh, so that's why. Let's leave him alone for a bit."

"Sorry," Kazuya apologized, "I know you two were getting closer."

"You don't have to apologize; I was thinking that I wanted to distance myself, anyway."

"Distance?"

"Because, we're getting too close," Lyn mumbled. Kazuya immediately understood where she was coming from. Too close, huh?

Kazuya's gaze fell on what Lyn was doing. The sword she placed on the desk was glowing several shades of blue. "Are you reforging it?"

"I'm just making it easier for you to use, it weighed too much, and the blade was dull. It looked like you tried to shapeshift it at one point and it turned strange."

His sweat fell, "That's a long story, well I will leave it to you," he examined it again, "But you really are good. Why do you know this stuff?"

"The reason this area is closed off, it's because Mentor uses it as his private study. In this place, he taught me how to use my magic. Of course, he was present when the church activated my magic."

"Nobles go through a ceremony to activate their magic, right?"

"Yes, our magic is slightly different from average people. Since the level of magic depends on your blood. It's normal for royals to have higher level magic. But that does not mean commoners cannot surpass royal magic," Lyn looked him up and down,

"Kazuya you're a good example. Your magic is stronger than mine. "

"Skills can be cultivated."

"But, even if I say that it can be done. How many people have actually done so? Think about it; if people could surpass magic used by royals easily, then the balance of this world would have vanished by now."

"So…"

"Your case is unique, I still haven't figured out why, but when I do, I'll tell you."

But he isn't even searching for the reason. Why was he born with such high-level magic despite not having noble blood? Still, "Can you show me what to do when my blade breaks during the battlefield?"

Lyn smiled, "Un."

...…

1:30am - W Quarter

"Kazuya," he hears a faint voice at his door. Lyn walked in with a large book in her hands. Earlier when Lyn asked him about learning more about the Sound Kingdom, he gave her this book. It didn't feel right for him to learn military secrets. So he asked her what she wanted.

"You've finished reading it?"

"Um," she nodded with an exhausted look on her face.

"Did you pull an all-nighter?"

This thick book wasn't one that a young woman could finish reading in so short a period of time. He studied her face and indeed saw it, traces of tiredness though it was clear that she was trying to hide it.

"Lend me the next one," she said without answering him and pushed the book to him. His sweat fell whenever she is in serious mode; she ends up moody.

Kazuya took it from her and placed it on the desk as he patted her hair. "I'll give it to you tomorrow, rest."

"Okay, don't forget your promise."

She pouted at the gentle instruction, but she immediately agreed. She was probably losing to sleep. It was extraordinary that she could concentrate and finish reading such a thick book. Kazuya knew that Lyn had a lot on her mind too

Only 7 hours had passed since he last saw her. For the past 2, Lyn was busy attending a gathering with her fiance too. His thoughts broke off when Lyn peered into the room, "Your not hiding any women here."

His sweat fell, "Hey…"

Lyn chuckled, "Can I stay for a bit?"

"You sure it's okay? It's too late."

"Then I'll just stay over."

Earlier the day when they were taking a nap together though she was so fl.u.s.tered. Why is she so calm now? Still, Kazuya allowed her into the room, and Lyn walked over to his bed, "Kazuya, the sheets are messy."

"Uh yeah."

"And so is the room. You have to clean it."

"Wait, wait. I'll do it," Kazuya stopped her, "Just lay down."

Lyn smiled, "Un, okay."

Kazuya looked around the room. He might as well clean up. Lyn made a good point; the entire place was in shambles. It's no wonder he hasn't been able to concentrate properly; everything is a mess.
