Chapter 221 - The Kings Medicine

But still, Lyn couldn't just judge somebody based on their first meeting. Besides, would the Snow Kingdom Knights follow and respect such a cruel person? Lyn thought with their personality; they would simply dismiss a child King. However, Lyn could tell from the brief conversations she has had with the Knights that they genuinely respected the King.

"I shall enter first, stay out here and wait until I call for you."

Lyn nodded and watched as her brother went inside. The moment he did, Reiji spoke up.

"You really are stupid."

Ahh? Why is he insulting her again?

"After what I told you, you still went ahead and got involved with him. You even became intimately intertwined."

At that comment, Lyn realized what he meant; her cheeks reddened, "S--so you can really tell?"

"Your blood and scents changed."

Blood and scent, huh?

Shu whistles, "I'm surprised he had the nerve to do it. Most people wouldn't."

It's quite embarrassing that they noticed. Wait if these people noticed, "Did you say Rhys was the same? Do you think um…"

"We were with him at the time; you better not talk to him for a while. He's in a terrible mood."

"Yep, he was scary."

"..I see."

So Rhys noticed, Lyn looked down at the ground. Even though she was so happy being with Kazuya, things aren't as simple anymore, huh? Since she fell in love with Kazuya, so many complicated things have happened. So many people have gotten hurt. When she was in love with Allen, none of this happened. While Lyn always thought that she wasn't worthy and stuff. The concerns were minimum. But now with Kazuya? She can't just have feelings for him without consequences.

Rhys must be hurt. But, maybe this was a good thing. The two of them have gotten very close, too close even. It's time to draw the line somewhere. She's sorry Rhys, but she really does…love Kazuya. Still, Lyn wondered why she was thinking about him so much. Her thoughts broke off when she saw Reiji's face color turn pale. Ah...

"Are you oka--"

"Get away from me!" Reiji snapped as he turned around and glared at her. "Come one step closer, and I'll destroy you! I will not only break your body but your mind as well!"

Lyn could feel his hate and flinch. What's with him? Just a few minutes ago, he was speaking normally, and now he is like this.

Reiji grabbed her wrist as tight as he could, pulling her a few steps closer. "Subaru! You're hurting me!" She told me. "Let go!" She ordered.

He didn't let go...he just looked at her...looked into her eyes. Lyn didn't know why, but it felt like she could understand, what Reiji was feeling wasn't anger.

"What do you want from me? What do you expect from someone powerless, hideous, and tainted as I am?" Reiji asked. She simply stared into his eyes as he did in hers. 'This person isn't he exactly like her?'

Her thoughts broke off when Reiji pulled her in close, holding her tight in his arms. "Reiji?"

Reiji didn't respond with words, and her eyes widened when she felt his mouth move down and sunk his teeth into her neck. He began drinking her blood. It was painful,

He took a few swallows before he pulled away. He stared at the new bite marks on her neck. "It tastes so sweet.." He said to himself. He needs more...

He sunk his teeth into her neck again and drank more of her blood.

Reiji kept drinking her blood, more and more. "No..." She said.

He pulled back and looked at her. "Shut up and stand still."

Lyn, however, shook her head and pulled out her knife from her pocket, instead of raising it towards him, she raised it to her neck. A dangerous and menacing look appeared in her eyes.

Reiji seemed surprised, "Are you stupid?"

"Touch me again, and you'll find out whether or not I am."

The blonde nodded, "You asked me why I gave you the knife. I gave it to you so you can stab me with it, should I want you to," Reiji whispered into her ear.

Shu whistles, "How bold Reiji, just tell her that you like her."

"Eh? Um?"

"Murderer is a way demons use to tell that they love each other."

Lyn gasped. "But I couldn't possibly-" rather if it really holds such a meaning, she can't do it. Even though she just used the knife to threaten her own life, using it against another person>

"Then if you can't, just end your life."

'What is with this man?' Lyn thought. She understands that perhaps they are the same kind, and that is why he is treating her like trash. But, she is not the type of person who would just sit aside and let people treat her like trash for no reason whatsoever.

Still, he has that look in his eyes. Ah, what sorrowful blood l.u.s.t.

….

The King's condition was far worse than she thought. He was bedridden and kept wincing in pain. The box her mentor asked her to deliver consisted of several medical potions. Lyn noticed that all of them had been specially brewed. There was even an elixir in the mix. "Say this box is the 1000 healing treasure?"

"Yeah," Shu nodded, "It's rare, and due to our situation here, we couldn't ask anybody to retrieve it."

"Um, retrieving it requires somebody high level with magic.."

"Right, that's why we established contact with Prince Ralph. Even then, it took him three years to get rid of the barrier surrounding the place. So yeah, anybody we sent would have been crushed to dust."

So that's why. Mentor is a busy person. But wait if he's so busy, does he really have the time to slack off? Her gaze darted towards the King, "I apologize again, your highness for arriving late."

"Do not mind….it," he coughed, "I'm grateful that you helped my people out. For the past few years, things have gotten out of hand. But I could only watch as things fell apart in front of me. I couldn't do anything to change it."

A King with power, and yet even he could do nothing to ease the suffering of his people. What a sad tale, "Um about Princess Eva…"

"My sister holds a grudge against me for taking the throne despite my poor health. After the death of our eldest brother, however, there was nobody else who could take his place."

So the Snow Kingdom doesn't take Queens as leaders? How surprising, or maybe it isn't? Many still don't believe that females should rule — many who look down on female rulers.

A person with frail health, and yet still has the shoulder the burdens behind his title. Initially, Lyn thought that if she saw this man again, she wanted to complain about what Reiji did to her in the corridor and his knight's misconduct. She wanted to complain about the suffering of his people.

But now? How could she possibly vent out these feelings now? It would be easy if she could blame their King for everything.

Unknowingly tears started to fall from her eyes. The King weakly sat up and reached over. His small hands patted her hair.
