Chapter 157 - I want to understand him

' I want to understand him. Someone told me that doing that is fine, but someone also told me to lay down the boundaries'.

Lyn recalls it very well the words she said to that person. She had heard two pieces of advice, and in the end, the one she felt herself more drawn to was the understanding him factor. Although it really should have been the other one. After all those words were from her fiance, Allen hadn't known she was involved in the military then, but he had often seen her with Kazuya.

Until he saw them together all the time and discussing rather serious matters. The golden blonde hair boy had told her directly not to get too involved. Allen told her, ' That man's a mere dog. Even if you have to concern yourself with him, please draw a line and show your social statuses are different'.

That person had told her something similar to, ' A elite is an elite. A dog is a dog. A relationship where that's made clear is probably better for you'. But although he said that, the black-haired girl had seen the look in the old man's eyes and understood that he was trying to put across an entirely different message.

Afterward, he had said. ' Understanding Kazuya means seeing things like Kazuya does and doing things in the same mindset as him. But if you do that, you'll be shrouded in darkness. If you do that, then there's a chance - no it's definite you won't be able to see the light ever again. I tried to bring him back to the light, but it was already too late then. I couldn't stop him from making that decision; what about you? Will you be drawn in, or will you be able to stop him? Do you want to place a bet?'.

As Lyn dodged the attack, she closed her eyes. Old Man had said that to her because he knew already. He knew that their fates would always connect. Moments ago, when she and the others were attacked. The words that escaped the lips of the opposition were, ' This is one of the targets. It's her Kazuya's partner.'

When she heard those words, Lyn understood full well who the opposing party was. It really doesn't seem as though they can escape from it. Fate.

"Lyn, watch out, above," Shioka called out to her.

Yet before she could block the attack, someone had scooped her into their arms and dodged them both. Her eyes widened upon seeing who it was. Golden hair...that cloak. "Allen?"

"I didn't think I'd be the first one. Kazuya and Rhys aren't here, huh?" he mutters. Hold on a second why on earth is he here? Or rather, what on earth was this situation? The two of them were on top of the lamp post, where she could see the fight breaking down a bellow.

Lyn stared at the man who carried her with wide eyes.

Allen suddenly leaned forward and pressed his lips on her forehead affectionately, causing a tint of pink to appear on her cheeks. "You're really are a cheeky woman. I was surprised that time and uncharacteristically ran away."

"That's expected," Lyn murmured.

"However, that does not mean I dislike you."

Eh?

Allen sighed, "I was surprised, yes. But that doesn't change anything at all between us."

Ha? Then ...then... Then he wasn't mad at her? Even though she had been worrying about it frantically this entire time. Is he kidding? Does he only feel pity for her? Yet as she looked at his expression. Lyn knew he wasn't lying at all.

"I do not like being ignored. Must I repeat myself?"

Lyn changed her grip on her scythe and tightened it slightly, "...Then... Then it's okay for me to still be your," Lyn thought she didn't deserve him. Didn't deserve to be with him if he found out how stained her hands are "Fiance?"

It was a short while ago, during that ball where she followed Allen. Allen found out about that, about what she did during her training with her brother. It turned out that woman who he was rumored with was the sibling of somebody who was in the military then. This was one reason why Lyn avoided him. Earlier, however, they didn't have time to talk about it.

Allen leaned down and kissed her forehead again, " Silly girl. You're already the only one for me. There can be no one else".

Before they could exchange anymore words though, she hears a familiar flute sound being played and turned her attention back to the fight to find Shioka looking at them with an exhausted expression. "Princess Lyn, you shouldn't be flirting in broad daylight."

"We weren't flirting," she shot back, still, "Exactly how are we going to get down?" Lyn asked.

"That's a good question, but I remember having this conversation with you before as well.."

A memory from the past appeared in her head. "Uhh...jump down me?"

"Yeah. So excuse me."

Lyn didn't get a chance to say a word when Allen leaped down. It was only for a short few seconds, but there was something strange about being in the air for a short time.

Once they landed on the ground, Allen let's go of her, and Shaarya rushed over.

"Sister, are you..."Shaarya trails of a loss of words, " Don't go off by yourself again. You should have at least called for me."

"I'm fine on my own."

Shioka interjected, "No, your sister makes a point.

"What an overreaction. This is why I didn't tell you guys," Lyn deeply sighed. She already knew that she was being tailed from the second she left the house. Of course, it wasn't difficult to miss, the blood l.u.s.t in the air.

"Ah sorry to interrupt you guys. But Princess Lyn there is still quite a few of em," Shioka called out.

More and more seemed to pour out. Her thoughts broke off when she saw the other team members appear.

They really do all like to show up one by one, huh? What perfect timing. Yeah, there timing really is something. However... " Everyone stay back."

Her sister, however, protested, "Shaarya, there isn't a need to involve you guys in this. These people are small fry."

Allen placed his sword back into its sheathe, " Are you saying our assistance will only hinder you?"

Lyn smiled, "Quick on the up to date, I see."

Allen closed eyes and holds his hand out to the three guards behind him, " Very well. We shall all do the same." Lady Rei seemed rather reluctant, but just one glare from Allan was enough. Her sweat dropped, well she supposed using fear alone is fine to persuade someone.

Fukami sighed, "Can't be helped, eh. Third Princess, don't do anything."

Shaarya managed a light nod.

"And you guys?" Shioka turned to the others.

Lyn didn't have time to look at their expressions or hear their response when the enemies got up and surrounded her. A deep sigh escaped her lips; this really is troublesome in more ways than one.
