Chapter 70 - Journey to the Land Of Snow

Before Lyn could say anymore though, Kazuya had grabbed hold of her hand.

"We're leaving."

Eh? Why? Brother — shouldn't she answer him first? But for some reason, the words couldn't leave Lyn' s lips. So she just allowed Kazuya to lead her way.

Once they were out of earshot, Lyn finally allowed herself to get lost in her thoughts. The whole time, she remained quiet and just stared at Kazuya's hands in hers. Lyn felt like her eldest brother was using magic to read her thoughts. So she cleared her mind for a bit. The reason Eldest brother said such words, is it because he doesn't want the throne?

Lyn couldn't think of another explanation otherwise. The thought that Mother would give her the throne was quite disturbing. After all, 'I do not wish to be Queen,' the only thing she wants is to be able to help the people.

Even if she helped the people while she is in a position of power, Lyn knew it would cause them more discomfort. That's why it's better to help them as 'Lyn,' rather than 'Princess Lyn,' besides it's not like she has any real power.

Year 4014- XX Town -

After a couple of days had passed, the three of them started on their journey to the Snow Kingdom. Lyn struggled to hide her excitement, each place they stopped at - she analyzed everything in detail. This may be the only chance she will get to go out of the city. The item her mentor wants her to fetch must be something vital. Otherwise, why would her eldest brother give permission? Currently, the three of them were heading to the next town; it was a long journey from the Mist to the Snow Kingdom.

While she knew the other two could probably get there quicker, they were being considerate of her. Still, 'they've stopped so many times,' Lyn thought. Since they didn't want to stand out, they had to leave their horses and carriage in the last town and proceed with the rest of the way by foot.

Kazuya explained to her that this was a better idea since the carriage and horses stand out. 'With horses, people can shoot us down. With carriages, we will get people making a mistake on our identities,' indeed carriages stood out. But, aren't horses, okay?

"Lyn, careful. These areas are covered in ice; it means we're getting closer to the Snow Kingdom," Kazuya said.

Lyn nodded, and a thought came to mind, as she extended her hand out, "Hand."

Kazuya laughed, "Right, let me hold your pretty hands, so you don't fall."

Is he implying she's clumsy? Oh well, she probably will fall. Lyn had to admit that her balance wasn't good. As Kazuya took her hand in hers, Lyn once again started to examine it. His hands are huge, and for a man's hand, it's quite smooth. But even then, Lyn knew it was the hands of somebody who has done so much manual labor.

Their heavy footsteps are pounding through the snow, though it was still light. The ground was covered in white. It does not snow in the Mist Kingdom, so it was an unusual sight for her, "Like what you see?"

"It's beautiful," Lyn replied.

"It gets prettier when you take the route over there."

Lyn looked over at Rhys, for some reason since they left the last town he was oddly silent, "Pretty?" her eyes were filled with curiosity at Rhys words.

Rhys smiled, "Shall we go see? There are loads of beautiful plants that only grow in the winter."

"Flowers?!!" she loves flowers. There're flowers out here, even though it's freezing?

Kazuya sighed, "Damn, how can I impress Lyn if I don't know the area."

Ah, Lyn brought her free hand to her face and laughed, "Kazuya, you're so silly."

"Yeah, he is isn't he, stupid."

"Shut it, Rhys," Kazuya turned to her and suddenly halted in his tracks. Lila immediately understood and signaled for him to hug her. Kazuya's warm arms wrapped around her, "I do get jealous easily, is that a problem for you?"

"Not so much, I'm happy you are looking out for me so much Kazuya," she really is glad. While Pupillam and General Adrian tend to scare away most people who try to approach her, Kazuya wraps his arm around her protectively to show everybody that she isn't somebody they can mess with. Her eldest brother would say she's not a weak woman who needs protecting. But Lyn does not see it that way.

"I am your boyfriend."

Lyn flushed red, "That sounds a bit strange."

Kazuya also looked nervous, "Well, I don't really know how else to put it, sorry."

"You could just call her your lover," Rhys said.

"Shut it; you go somewhere else."

"We're taking a break here?" Rhys said dumbfounded.

"Find the firewood; let's take a quick rest stop."

Rhys looked like he wanted to say something, but decided against it as he quickly made his way through the forest. Lyn wondered if it was okay to stop in such a unique location, weren't they in the middle of a path? But just as she thought that Kazuya lets her go, "Let's go over there," he pointed to the area where Rhys was talking about.

Ah, Lyn nodded and hid her excitement. She wants to see the pretty flowers. Kazuya leads her up the slope, and once they reached the top, she lets go of his hands and rushes over to the railing. The sight before her was genuinely dazzling, in the background were various different types of flowers - and the view before her was a field of flowers in the distance.

This is the first time she has laid eyes on something so beautiful before.

"It was worth coming here," though this journey is mainly to get her mentors item. There is nothing wrong with observing and doing some sightseeing too. The land of snow, she wonders what it looks like. How different is it from the Mist?
