Chapter 64 - Nightmares

Lyn nodded happily.

If she makes Kazuya something hand made, won't he be happy with her? Allen had never appreciated such things. As Lyn carried on listening to Kazuya talking, for some reason, she still felt Prince John looking at her. That was strange, the two of them had walked quite a distance away now. It's not possible for him to still be looking, and yet Lyn looked back just in case. As expected, she could no longer see him. Perhaps she's just imagining things. It's been quite some time since she last saw him, so it's natural that things have ended up this way.

Before Lyn could say anymore, however..

Suddenly her vision went dark.

...

Chorus of people screaming.

The area covered in flames, and yet if one looked closely they would see small droplets of snow dancing in the background.

"Your cursed, cursed!"

"That's her, it's because of her that we are living like this."

"Kill her, kill her."

"Kill the Witch!"

"Aghhh, Hahaha!"

Lyn woke up screaming, face broke out into a cold sweat. She looked around and found herself in Kazuya's room. Did she faint? Kazuya must have carried her here. A deep sigh passed her lips. So much for spending time with him, what on earth is she doing?

She placed her hand on her face, her whole body felt cold. But her whole face felt hot, it felt like she was burning, "I'm not cursed," Lyn muttered to herself.

"That's right, you're just you," a familiar and warm voice said. Lyn looked up and saw brown hair and immediately wrapped her arms around him, "Sorry, did you have a nightmare? I shouldn't have left. But I wanted to get you some food."

"Kazuya.."

"Yeah."

Kazuya is here, she isn't alone —of course, she isn't. When was the last time she was alone?

For the last few minutes her breathing remained heavy, she still couldn't get over the nightmare she just had. Lyn doesn't understand what just happened. Though it's not unusual for her to get nightmares, this is the first time Lyn ever saw such a thing.

'Maybe this is what her brother and Ralph were talking about,' Lyn thought. The day after the ball, Lyn saw Ralph. He said he had business with her brother. Ralph is studying alchemy and the unknown. Perhaps he has a lead on her condition. If it's like that, then it won't be long before her brother insists on those restrictions. When he does, it will cut her time with Kazuya short. Lyn frowned at that thought, she doesn't want that to happen. Especially since the relationship, they have now is 'serious'. Maybe she should talk to him about it? However, Lyn didn't want to rely on Kazuya too much.

They may be dating, but when she thought about how much Kazuya's done for her since he got here. The debt she owes him is a lot. So, she can't rely on him. But that doesn't mean she can't warn him. While the two of them are technically, 'enemies,' Lyn deeply sighed and shook her head, there is no use in thinking about those things now. In the first place, she and Kazuya are free spirits. While people may give them commands, they have no actual obligation to follow them. Lyn knew that Kazuya had his orders but it's not as though he was being forced to follow them. The same went for her, she may listen to her brother. But Lyn understood that she could back out anytime.

Lyn accepted the glass of water and nodded, she used the first two mouthfuls to wash the bile from her mouth before she drank the rest of the water. Kazuya was silently watching her, and Lyn knew he wanted answers. However Lyn didn't want to tell him, she didn't want to rely on him anymore than she ought to.

"This isn't the first time you've had nightmares right?"

Lyn could see the gears turning in Kazuya's prodigious brain turning. Even with her silence, Lyn knew it wouldn't be long before Kazuya had everything figured out. Actually, it wouldn't surprise her if Kazuya already knew about it. Rhys found out - and Rhys was under no obligation to keep it a secret, considering how stubborn she was about receiving his help.

"Lyn--"

"I told you Kazuya, it's bad for you staying over so much," Lyn murmured. This was why she evaded him staying over, or her staying over his place. While it was easier to control in her own quarters since the general used a special type of magic to ease her nightmares. Magic cannot completely dispel or rid herself of her nightmares.

Kazuya stayed quiet for a moment, and Lyn thought she finally offended him. Since they started to date each other, they seldom ever fought. Most of the time they were in their little safety bubble. A safety bubble where they revolved their lives around each other. According to her Eldest Brother though, a relationship like that is not healthy. Maybe it isn't, maybe it is. Lyn didn't really understand, all she knew was that this person made her safe - a safety she hasn't felt in years.

Even the nightmares that have haunted her for so long, seem to fade away whenever she is in the warmth of his arms. To her surprise though after those few minutes of deadly silence, Kazuya hugged her, " Don't be silly, whether you have nightmares, wake up punching or screaming. I'll take it all. Your pain is my pain," and of course this man goes off the normal route.

Most people would not be so accepting in this situation, they'd call people like her a freak. Yet Kazuya is once again accepting everything about her, accepting all her obvious flaws.
