Chapter 56 - Like a puzzle

When Lyn made her way back inside, she took the long route to the ballroom. Or rather, she didn't want to disturb what Rhys was up to. Though he didn't explicitly tell her anything, Lyn knew that he was getting information.

The man who referred to himself as Rhys companion told her to come to the east wing, and enter the door nearest the altar. It surprised Lyn how quiet the area was, shouldn't there be guards or something hear? When she saw how the door was opened, she remained cautious and pulled out her blade from her sash. But there was no need, Lyn spotted Rhys right away, but he was on top of a woman.

Lyn's cheeks turned red, but she quickly shook her head. She shouldn't show weakness in front of him, "Rhys."

He looked up at her, eyes filled with passion and l.u.s.t. "Ah, there you are," he nonchalantly said. Rhys didn't seem too bothered that he caught her in the arms of another woman. Not that it was actually her business or not. But since they came here together, it was somewhat embarrassing for her.

"I feel sick."

A look of concern washed across Rhys face, he yanked the woman of him and made his way over, "Do you want to rest?"

Lyn nodded.

…..

"If I didn't know better, I'd say you were jealous."

Lyn rolled her eyes at his comment and sighed, "I simply wished to rest. I didn't want to tell Allen I was tired," she knew exactly how overbearing her fiance could get whenever it concerned her health, "That's why I used you."

Since she asked him to come with her to this ball, Lyn reminded him on several occasions that she was using him. She didn't understand it very well. But Lyn figured she ought to draw a line between them. Yet, her eyes twitched in annoyance when he laid down beside her.

"What are you doing?"

"I'm also resting."

This man, how shameless can he get? Lyn attempted to sit up, but he laid her back down, "Calm down, I'm only joking around. Go to sleep Lyn,"

Really?

To her surprise, after he said those words, Rhys sat up and left the bed, "Sleep now."

"Um, I have to get back soon. I can't stay here overnight."

"You'll have to; it's too dangerous to head back to the palace so late," Rhys said.

Dangerous?

"Assassins lurk around during this hour. I already informed Kazuya in advance that you'd be staying here so relax."

So Kazuya knew where she was, that thought comforted her greatly, and she brought the covers over her face.

"Say, Rhys? Who was that woman?" Lyn asked.

"Nobody."

Ah-huh, and yet he slept with her? Lyn doesn't understand this man's logic. Pupillam referred to Rhys as a womanizer - somebody who sleeps around with other women for their own gain - somebody who discards women like toys. But Rhys doesn't mistreat her. Sure he can be a spartan during training, however, "He's a kind person," Lyn muttered under breath.

"What did you say?"

"Nothing."

If he isn't a bad person, she wonders why people misunderstand him so much. Maybe it's because he's a womanizer? Lyn didn't understand that stuff very well. But she wonders if Rhys has a reason for his ways.

.....

Training Grounds Princess Lyn's Quarters (Following Morning)

"Your aim is terrible."

Her eyed twitched in annoyance. Rhys doesn't have to be so blunt about it. Lyn felt exhausted due to yesterdays events, and yet Rhys still dragged her off to training. She only just got back and wanted to rest more when he knocked on her door.

Lyn deeply sighed. When it comes to training, this man is a devil in disguise. She tried to ignore him and try again. Lyn tightened her grip on the bow and pulled, but the arrow flew off the course and landed in the bushes. A frustrated sigh passed her lips; why is this so difficult? Is it because she doesn't have any strength?

She really was terrible at it, and it didn't help how Rhys kept shaking his head every so often. Lyn pouted, isn't he supposed to be teaching? Or rather if he's acting so arrogant about it, "Then you try it," Lyn challenged.

The bow isn't a weapon that people often used. So Lyn felt Rhys was acting too arrogant. He's way too full of himself. He's probably not good at it too. She confidently handed it over to him.

His lips curve to a smile, as he adjusted the bow, "Should I be glad that you're so naive Princess? I guess it will be easier to trick you."

Ah? What does he mean?

"Stand there and watch, Lyn."

Lyn watched as he got into position, she had to look away when the sleeves of his kimono top slid up, revealing his muscular arms. But she only looked away for a moment, Lyn's eyes widened when she saw a rare concentrated expression on his face. His whole demeanor screamed 'relaxed,' and yet, there appeared to be a serious look in his eyes. Rhys let go of the arrow, and it flew across the area and hit the middle of the round board.

"Bull's eye, how's that Princess?" Rhys wore a c.o.c.ky grin on his face as he walked back over.

Lyn stared at him in awe; she completely forgot about his arrogant attitude. She rushed up to him and grabbed hold of his hands, "You have to teach me!"

If she could learn how to shoot the bow like Rhys just did. Then she is sure she could help Kazuya in some way.
