Chapter 49 - Kazuya P8

Is he acting this careless because they are both from the Sound Kingdom? If so, then that's stupid. After all his mission right now is to destroy the Mist Kingdom. Why would King Daichi act so friendly?

"Elder Bryan was it? He sent me word you were coming here; he told me to aid you if you get caught," King Daichi said.

Huh?

King Daichi sighed, "Don't misunderstand. I won't help you. And I've warned Orthez already about your little group. But, I only told her to watch over you, I didn't expose the plan. Her keeping an eye on you limits your movements. By exposed I'm talking about, the public. It would be bad for you if people found out right?"

So, in other words, he's not really on anybody's side. If it harms his wife and Lyn, then he would expose them in a heartbeat.

"But you should know that we plan to," Kazuya didn't know how to say it anymore. Use Lyn? Already he was thinking of ways to modify the plan with nobody noticing. So far, the only thing he has come up with is convincing her to agree with the plan. Initially, when the elders told him the plan, Kazuya thought nothing of it.

But when he thought about it now, the plan is filled with holes, that anybody could exploit.

King Daichi smiled, "Tell me something Kazuya, what do you think about my daughter?"

"Huh?"

"Just give me a brief description."

"Well, I guess she's a bit strange? Pardon me for saying so, but she is slightly weird," Kazuya ran his hand through his hair, "But as weird as she is. Her eyes contain with hope and courage. A bright light surrounds her. I have yet to confirm what her ideals are regarding the Empire. But I can already tell from her behavior whenever we go to Town." Honestly, he is a bit surprised. He didn't think he would meet somebody like Lyn. Somebody who has yet to be corrupted by the ideals of the world.

"Hm, I see. So, I'll give you a choice."

'So there is a catch,' Kazuya thought to himself. But he should have expected this. This man is not like the rumors say. Or rather those rumors are very vague. There's not much information on the King. Usually, that would worry people. But other people focus on Queen Orthez too much, that they neglect the King who is equally as bad. This man is doing work in the shadows without people realizing.

"If you can convince me that Lyn is better off with you then I'll nullify her engagement with Allen."

"Huh?"

King Daichi smiled, "You like my daughter correct?"

Like, he doesn't understand yet. But for the longest time, Kazuya knew he wanted nobody else but Lyn by his side. Kazuya slowly nodded, "I like her," the words felt foreign in his tongue. But at the same time, it felt just right. Obviously, it felt foreign; he's never said such words in his whole life before.

He honestly doesn't know what to think of it just yet. But if he doesn't give King Daichi an answer, then Lyn will the Wind Kingdom's Prince will steal Lyn away.

To his surprise when Kazuya looked over the man wore a gentle expression in his eyes, "Don't fret, even though those two have been engaged since they were younger. Nothing happened. Lyn turned sixteen and yet nothing has changed. Allen doesn't intend to lay a hand on her until she asks or falls for him. He's very traditional that boy, but his subtle hints won't work on my daughter. But you," King Daichi drawled, "You are very different. From the start, I knew that. Relax if it's you, my clueless daughter will realize soon enough."

Realize soon enough? Kazuya didn't get a chance to respond to that when he saw black hair by the door. It was Lyn; she leaned against the door patiently. At least that's what it looked like to anybody walking by. But Kazuya knew something was amiss. Kazuya rushed over, "Lyn?" he called out.

"Kazuya, are you finished?"

"What's wrong?"

"I want us to spend some time together," Lyn trailed off, she fiddled with her fingers, "Is that okay?"

Some time together? But it's almost la— Realization struck Kazuya, and he nodded. She must be saying that in code because her father is here. Though King Daichi isn't a bad guy, Kazuya knew he wouldn't approve of them sleeping on the same bed together. Rather, he will probably get killed if the King finds out. Kazuya felt the man's gaze on him and shuddered - maybe he knew? That's scary.

….....

Kazuya immediately noticed that something was wrong. So when they were at the bottom of the clock tower, he started some mundane topics. When they got outside, he asked her right away, "Lyn, what happened. What's wrong?"

"Nothing," Lyn muttered. She clutched to him tighter, "Say Kazuya, when do you have to go back?"

"Hmm?"

'Go back?' Kazuya thought to himself; it didn't take him long to figure of what she was talking about? That stupid Rhys and his big mouth. Kazuya gently pressed his lips on her forehead, "At the end of the year, but I won't be there long. Just two months at most," Since he's crucial to this plan with Lyn.

Kazuya glanced at her reaction, and as he expected, she didn't look pleased at all. The frown on her face seemed to increase.

"Kazuya, um can I go with you?"

"Ah?" Kazuya raised his eyebrows, though she had a conversation like this with him before. He wasn't sure how serious it was. Does she really want to go?

"I um, want to see the place you were raised in," Lyn shyly tugged on his sleeve, "I can't?"

Kazuya stared at the girl utterly speechless. Why is she so cute for? She always does these things that leave him no room to argue. Maybe he can negotiate with the elders about bringing Lyn along?

"I'll make some arrangements, don't want to get your hopes up. But it would be nice if you came with me," Kazuya replied. He genuinely felt this way. If Lyn came along with him, then he wouldn't have to worry about the Elders making him do unreasonable missions. But even more than that, "I'd like to show you some places too."

The Sound Kingdom isn't as large as the Mist Kingdom. But there were many beautiful areas. Judging how much Lyn likes scenery, Kazuya wanted to show her the beautiful scenery of his home town.
