Chapter 24 - The person named 'Lyn'

It ended up as a confrontation.

Lyn expected it; the only way anybody could stop him is to fight him. So when Kazuya made the first move and attacked her, Lyn already had her blade ready.

Though she feigned and acted indifferent about it for so many years, Lyn always wondered how it would feel to be normal, to lead a normal life. If she was just the average Princess who they raised with a silver spoon in her mouth would she have ended up exactly like her siblings? Who dedicates themselves to the country? Then again, it's not like she isn't committed to the country. She loves this place and the people living here though she has made little contact with the outside.

The little times Lyn goes out, she treasures every moment and interaction. She wants to help these people, but as 'Lyn' and not a Princess. With this goal in mind, Lyn stopped caring about her isolation. At least on the surface, once in a while, she experimented with the idea.

What if she was normal? The main reason why this thought even crossed her mind despite her goal as Lyn was due to her so-called curse. From time to time when she's alone, she would look at the curse mark in her hand. She would look at it for hours. No matter how many times or no matter how long Lyn stared at the mark, it seemed normal to her. However, for others, it was something deadly. It was enough of a reason to lock away their daughter.

In the royal family, every single child born is vital because of the assassins lying in wait. Just in case there was an accident, there's still another child to take the throne. That's why there are even cases of King's and Queens having multiple affairs. As long as the one person in charge has a child with noble blood, it did not matter who the child belonged too.

The only exception to this may be the current throne. Lyn knew her mother and father did not have anyone else but each other. That's also something she's curious about. Lyn doesn't know much about relationsh.i.p.s, and she's naive about things like kissing and getting affectionate.

That may be why she didn't realize how stupid it was to look for Kazuya and kiss him back. Then again, she truly didn't understand it — the meaning behind a kiss or getting close to anyone. In the sixteen years of her life, Lyn's never experienced such warmth or kindness from another person.

Even if she weren't born into the royal family and just an average one, Lyn wouldn't mind, living a seemingly ordinary life and have normal worries - focusing on family, love, and education and Not needing to worry about a curse mark or her strength. Most people strive for perfection and desire to be above than the norm. At times Lyn wanted it, despite having everything normal peoples ever wanted - the bloodline of royalty, strength. She wanted average, just like a human body needed air and to eat to survive.

As the years go by this longing grew and grew, but she still kept it locked away. In the back of her mind, the desire was always there, a simple solution, to cut her ties with her family — two years after the incidence that occurred when she was fourteen.

Lyn meets him, the man named Kazuya - the person who is currently throwing deadly attacks at her. But that's not the point here. Meeting this person is the turning point in her life, as cheesy as it sounds. From the moment he kissed her, Lyn knew something was about to change. They've only known each other for a short time, but they've already gone through so much together.

How troublesome. This only happened because Rhys got involved with such dangerous people. She wonders though, why she always ends up in situations where she has to fight somebody close to her. This happened two years ago with Pupillam too; the girl got possessed by a demon. The enemy fraction sent this demon that learned of her existence. But Pupillam noticed and purposely fell for the trap to shield her.

Lyn found herself cutting the next wave that he directed at her, quickly and swiftly. Though she guessed she wasn't to talk. If it was her, and Lyn discovered it much earlier. She would have done the same thing too.

As another wave headed to her, Lyn dodged once again and cut's it apart as she landed on the ground briefly before bouncing back into the air. When exactly did she discover this strength? It was the moment she turned two years old; she was just playing in the yard.

It was a rare occasion where nobody was around.

But rumors around the castle are deadly, those who knew of her existence had seen the damage. They knew she was the only one there. Even with their suspicions that wasn't enough for them to hate her, many people saw her isolation as a form of love. They subconsciously became jealous of her.

While there are those who were merely jealous of her, no one adored her. Lyn changed one of her blades into a fire wheel and cut all the blue sound waves and wires. As she lands on the ground, "Kazuya, stop already."

"Lyn, I have to protect Lyn."

Her eyes go wide at his words and then Lyn immediately understood, she never truly understood Kazuya at all. Spy or not. He genuinely cares for her, the reason he got like this wasn't due to those beatings. It was because he figured out who they were after. Lyn twisted her sword and cut the remaining beams.

"Lyn, Lyn.."

This strong desire caused the ground to erupt a little and caused even more powerful and robust sound waves to head in her direction, "But, I'm already safe Kazuya."

Lyn shuts her eyes and canceled out her power, as she with her bare hands cut through the sound waves. She cut through it quickly and landed a direct blow in Kazuya's stomach, causing him to fall back landing on the ground. A light seemed to form in Kazuya's eyes.

"Lyn, your.. stronger than Kazuya?" Rhys called out from behind her.

Lyn shook her head, "It's just a matter of emotions. I think I get stronger when powerful emotions are involved.'

Her eyes glow bright red as she gently brought her hand to Kazuya's face, he seemed to regain consciousness, "Please sleep until this is over."

"Lyn?"

"Rhys, sorry... But you'll have to back me up," Lyn asked. Right now she was struggling even to stand up, Lyn summoned a larger and leaned on the hilt for support.

Those are the last words that leave her lips when a large beam of light heads in their direction. Before Lyn could raise her blade; however, the attacks are sliced in half and oppressed with a much larger force. Ah, this is...

"My dear sister, you seem to have a death wish. Ignoring my warning the way you do, and getting hurt in the process."

"Big brother..."

Indeed despite her fading consciousness, Lyn could make out the figure of her brother. The First Prince Of The Mist Kingdom Andrew.
