Chapter 41 - If time rewinds, I'll set you free

A man dressed in light blue robes reached the surface along with a fainted young miss. Her hat and her veil were already off, but her face was facing his chest when he pulled her up. Nobody was able to recognize her nor him.

The young man swims towards the bank. His servant was waiting for him by the bank. "Young Master." He got his outer robe off and put it on his young master's shoulder.

When he and his Young Master was passing by, they heard that someone fell in the lake. At first, his Young Master wasn't concerned at all. Unfortunately, nobody went down to save her.

If there was one thing that his Young Master hated, it was being inhumane. He dashes towards the lake and jumped in to save her. Fortunately, it looks like his young master made it in time.

As soon as his Young Master got to the bank, the young miss cough out the water in her lungs.

When Bai Fangzu saw her countenance, his brows instantly furrowed. He recognized this woman. Taking out the robe that his subordinate put in his shoulder, he wrapped it on her instead. He laid her face back to his chest so that nobody would be able to see her.

"Jing, let's go." Without looking at the crowd, he carried her princess style towards their inn.

Xi Jing was confused with his young master's reaction. It seems like his master knew the identity of the woman, hence he followed silently.

Since nobody knew the identity of the woman and it was an accident, everyone dispersed. The young man who saved the drowning woman seems like a decent man, so they just left like that.

-----

Hours after, Huangyu was getting worried. It had been a couple of hours and her Mistress haven't arrived yet. Unable to sit still, she told the waiter that she'll be right back. She went back to their inn, hoping to see her Mistress.

Unfortunately, their room was empty. Her heart was beating fast, scared that something bad happened to her Mistress. She dashed towards Hongfe's room to check if he was back. When nobody answered, she started panicking.

The hidden guard who was assigned to keep watch Hongfe's room appeared in front of Huangyu. "What's wrong? Did something happened?"

Huangyu was shocked when someone appeared out of nowhere. "Who are you?"

"Relax. I'm one of Master Gu's subordinates. Tell me, what happened? Why are you crying in front of my Master's room? Where is your Mistress?"

When she heard that he was one of Young Master Gu's subordinates, Huangyu instantly explained what happened.

"What?! You lost your Mistress? This isn't good. Wait on your room and I'll inform my master." The hidden guard instantly disappeared.

Huangyu held unto the railing. "Miss, please be safe." She silently whispered and prayed.

-----

Ronglou was having a dream about her previous life. Somehow, she saw vivid images. After Qu Mingming drowned her, she was left alone in the Palace Pond. Not long after, a palace maid saw her dead body. Her face was facing down but she was wearing her Imperial Robe and her head accessories that only the Empress could wear. It was easy to recognize the person on the pond.

The palace maid screamed on the top of her lungs and yelled for help. "Ahhh!!!! The Empress drowned! The Empress drowned! Help! Save the Empress! Save the Empress!"

Several guards and servants heard the scream. They shivered at the news but still went towards the pond. This pond was the biggest pond inside the Palace and it was deep twice a person's height.

For the Empress to drown, this would overturn the Palace. If she is found dead, they wouldn't be able to keep their heads from their bodies. Especially the ones who were assigned to protect the Empress.

Ronglou wasn't able to read their minds but was able to understand from their reactions. The sudden death of an Empress would cause some people to follow her to the grave. Even if the Emperor doesn't favor her, she still helped him to become who he was now.

"Will you be happy? You'll finally be able to make your favorite concubine become your official wife and the mother of the nation. If time rewinds, I'll set you free."

This was her last words before she died. Recalling them now, she felt that her prayers had been answered. Whoever reincarnated her, she was thankful for them. To the Gods who watched over her, Thank you.
