Chapter 39 - Her unsettled heart

The shop that sells carriages and horses was located South of Guang Town. Unfortunately, she didn't have anyone to drive it. Although she knew how to ride a horse due to the insistence of her older brothers, she still wasn't that capable of driving the carriage herself. Huangyu doesn't have this skill either. The only thing she could think of was either ask Hongfe's help or hire someone.

Since she was an escapee, hiring some stranger wouldn't be a wise thing to do. Still, she didn't want to owe Hongfe so much in this life. Him helping her escape was already a high risk on his life. She knew how cruel Fengxin could get towards his enemies. Once that man finds out, she was afraid that he'll take it the wrong way.

When she became friends with Hongfe in her previous life, Fengxin wasn't enthusiastic about it. An Empress being friends with the Young Mistress of the Hua Pavilion was to be looked down upon on. Some people were even thinking that the Empress was trying to get that Young Mistress to climb on the Emperor's bed. It became a huge issue until she finally told the Emperor that the woman was, in fact, a male. Well, let just say that instead of giving him a relief, he became more furious. He didn't explain why he was mad at her, so she could only keep a distance to Hongfe then. Later on, she heard that he found his siblings. After that, he left the Imperial City to leave somewhere quiet with his siblings.

Hongfe was one of her few friends in her previous life. Losing one of her friends this way, She grew hate towards Fengxin. Hate and Love relationship for 15 years of marriage. She shake her head to remove those unpleasant memories. Since she couldn't decide on whether she should ask Hongfe's help or hire someone, she went towards the north of Guang Town.

Recalling Brother Sheng from yesterday, she unconsciously arrived at the lake. There were more people around it. Some people were taking pleasure by roaming around the stalls near it, while others were on the boat. Floating in the lake to take in the view up close.

She didn't know why brother Sheng cried last night. Did she say something wrong? This puzzled her last night. There was a bridge that connected the lake to the other side. Lost on her thoughts, she stood on top of the bridge. She was almost lunchtime, so the sun was at its peak. Looking down on her reflection on the lake, it brought wild emotions to her.

She acted strong for these couple of weeks. Although she looked alright, her emotions hasn't been settled down. Dying was not an easy thing to experience. How did she die, only she knew and that murderer. What happened after she died, this she didn't know. She bet all her wealth that Qu mingming became the new Empress. After all, she was the most favored concubine of the Emperor. Qu mingming was the Emperor's benefactor. Their love story started only a couple of months after Ronglou got married to Fengxin. Yes, that early. Their story was sort of romantic, everyone thought that they were destined to be together. Some even thought that Qu Mingming was the rightful Empress. She was simple, kind and humble. Unlike the Perfect Empress Ronglou who had plastered smile on her face. Concubine Qu Mingming and the Emperor Fengxin's story goes like this.

A couple of months after their marriage, Fengxin left the Imperial City to go to the North Border of Xu Kingdom. If things happen the same way as her past life, War should break out within 3 years. Fengxin's expedition was to scout the North Border's situation. After being there for 4 months, he was recalled to come back by the current Emperor. Along in his way back, Fengxin was ambushed. His subordinates gave him an escape route as they sacrificed their lives for the Crown Prince. He didn't leave at first and fought with the assassins. At the last moment when he thought that they could win, the assassin's backups arrived. He got injured severely. With his subordinate's sacrifice, he was able to escape. His life became in danger at that moment. He traveled on foot with his injury. Luckily, they were passing a mountain. Making his pursuers have a hard time locating him. He continuously fleed without stopping, not even to check his injuries. On the third night, his body couldn't take it anymore and he fainted. Since he didn't take care of his injuries, he had gotten a fever and his wounds were infected. His fever was so high, enough to kill his life. He was on the brink of life when Qu Mingming saved him.
