Chapter 101 : We Are Impossible to Separate

Chapter 101 : We Are Impossible to Separate

Xia Yuan followed Mei Fang back home. They carefully opened the door and were greeted with an unbelievable scene.

Since earlier, Xia Yuan had been thinking about Mei Ya and Lin Youxi. Now, Mei Ya was sitting by the coffee table, diligently doing her homework, her serious expression resembling that of a well-behaved little girl, like a model for a moral education class. Lin Youxi sat beside her, meticulously watching over her homework and occasionally offering guidance.

“I just explained this problem to you. You should know how to solve it, right? It’s the same chicken and rabbit problem.”

“Sister Youxi, I’m only in third grade. I haven’t learned the chicken and rabbit problem from fourth grade yet...”

Mei Ya had a teary expression.

“Then I’ll explain it to you again using the simplest method.”

“You’ve explained it to me ten times already, but I still don’t understand!”

“Then I’ll explain it to you for the eleventh time. If you don’t understand, you must ask me.”

“Okay, okay, but let’s take a break. Sister Youxi, do you want to see me perform magic——”

“Finish your homework first. Don’t do anything else,” Lin Youxi interrupted and tapped her notebook.

The tearful Mei Ya lamented her miserable fate, but when she looked up and saw her big brother and her sister Yuan Yuan sneakily entering the room, she immediately jumped up excitedly.

“Sister—Yuan—Yuan—”

Drawing out her words, Mei Ya threw herself into Xia Yuan’s arms. “I really miss you.”

“What do you miss about me... You just want me to help you with your homework, right?” Xia Yuan caressed Mei Ya’s head and jokingly pouted at her, “I don’t want to get punished by your brother.”

“Sister Yuan Yuan, you’re lying. You looked so happy when my brother punished you.”

“Don’t make up stories!”

Mei Fang went straight to Mei Ya’s seat and looked at her homework.

“How is her homework?”

Lin Youxi nodded, “It’s good. Xiaoya is working hard.”

Mei Fang was surprised, “You seem to be in a relatively normal state?!”

Lin Youxi frowned. “Why wouldn’t I be normal? Do you think Xiaoya is mischievous? I think she’s fine. She listens to me quite well.”

Lin Youxi emphasized, “Besides, all this is Ah Fang’s hard work, at most it’s a gift from Ah Fang to me, just like that MP3 player... we’re impossible to separate. But even close family members keep their accounts clear, I don’t like owing you.”

Mei Fang thought for a moment, “Well, I still owe you over a thousand yuan from the last time we bought the electric scooter. Let’s consider this as me repaying you, how about that?”

Lin Youxi nodded, “That works too.”

Xia Yuan, listening from the side in confusion, finally understood something she could relate to and exclaimed, “Hey, hey, did you guys buy a scooter? What kind of scooter? How come I didn’t know?”

This was the secret that Lin Youxi hadn’t told Xia Yuan before, and she had to continue hiding it for now.

“Um... it’s about my dad’s electric scooter. I just asked Ah Fang for some information about it before.” Lin Youxi calmly came up with an excuse to brush off the matter.

As for Xia Yuan and Mei Fang learning how to play guitar, Lin Youxi not only supported them but also reminded them not to neglect their studies, which they agreed to.

It took Mei Fang and Xia Yuan some time to persuade their parents to let them learn the guitar in their spare time, but fortunately, their parents were open-minded and didn’t oppose it too much. Mei Fang finally had his own guitar.

Xia Yuan’s subtle intention made Mei Fang feel a bit sweet. Because she encouraged Mei Fang to buy an expensive “pair” of all-solid wood acoustic guitars. Feeling that Mei Fang might hesitate due to the price, so she preemptively bought them.

Mei Fang, who would eventually possess billions of assets, couldn’t bear this “mooching” title. He insisted on returning the money to Xia Yuan, but Xia Yuan was also very determined, so they had to leave it at that.

The cost of their guitar lessons was based on hourly rates, settled every six months. If they attended one or two classes a week, the estimated budget would be around 3,000 yuan. Since it was a small group class for the two of them, they had to call and make an appointment a day in advance before each class.

Learning to play guitar was simple to start with, but it’s difficult to master. Even if they wanted to learn quickly, without a year or more of practice, they wouldn’t achieve much. It could only be taken slowly.

However, when Mei Fang first touched the guitar strings, he felt an unparalleled sense of fulfillment.

He was determined to master this musical instrument.

He had never felt this way before.

If Xia Yuan hadn’t been there to encourage him, he might never have picked up this buried dream again in his lifetime.

A month later, everyone quickly entered the “competition” of mid-term exams. Despite some unpleasant incidents, everyone’s grades were still commendable. Lin Youxi remained in first place as usual, Mei Fang closely followed in second place, and Xia Yuan achieved a surprising second place in her class.

Apart from factors such as several original top students in the class whose mentality was unbalanced and underperforming, Xia Yuan’s performance in science was good because the questions were relatively simple. She even scored 82 in physics (out of 85), 1 point higher than Mei Fang, who was embarrassed by the result.

“This physics test was mostly about rote memorization, which I’m good at,” Xia Yuan said.

On the way home from the last evening self-study session, Xia Yuan happily walked between Mei Fang and Lin Youxi.

“From now on, we can finally attend evening classes together!”
