Chapter 1

I looked down from the top of my Castle from the Tower as the Sun started to set to my left. If I followed the trends of my species, I would end up seeing the Sun only at the end of my life, or when I was willing to die, not clutching to my morbid mortality like a fragile ornament. Dracula would come into this world in Wallachia after 500 years, and till then all this world would have is the lore and fables of an Immortal King, who slayed his enemies in battles after battles, without a wound to show for it. My Court was full of Immortal Vampire Lords, who followed my stead for more than thousand years, and as such are utterly loyal, completely devotional to me, though they are not termed as Vampires, as I never let them associate ourselves with that name. I am the oldest Vampire in existence, almost 4300 years old as of 946 AD; I was born before the Babylonian conquered Sumer, before the Akkadian laid waste to all the nearby settlements, before the Egyptians expanded their domain, or the Macedonian or the Mongol. I came before the world was shaped as I knew it, and this is my story, in the world of Dracula, the 2020 TV show aired on BBC and Netflix.

I was a normal working man in the modern world, born in the Information Age, and a History buff, curious of the transition of our world from its various ages, and the vestiges each change left behind from its predecessor. I was fascinated with the lore of various creatures of the night, and the fantastic world dreamt of. I was always an agnostic as the 'Pascal's Wager' was persuasive, and Descartes' essay and deductions made sense to me, and purposefully denying the existence of an omnipotent being seemed like a bad idea through and through.

So, when I died of unnatural causes, that is to say, an accident, I was not that surprised to have met a being who I assumed had a despicable sense of humour, because He, It, They dressed in a tavern robe, with long hanging cuffs, and a bald face and dark raven eyes, smiling at me with a wooden spoon in hand.

I may have screamed at seeing THE Gaunter O'Dimm as my ROB, but imagining that the world I lived in, had the embodiment of evil and treachery as its superintendent and adjudicator, was a blow to my fragile mortal mind.

When I came to my senses, I checked if I had both my eyes intact, and upon feeling my hands pass through my face, heard G.O.D's voice, "I would have stabbed your eye if you were disrespectful, but seeing a soul shudder and panic is so entertaining, I need not mutilate you. And no, I am not your world's God, or influenced the Witcher game series in any way, I swear. I was just roaming the void and saw that you were just the kind of person I could get along with, and so I decided to be your Companion for your adventures beyond here."

I may have chuckled nervously, while trying with all my faculties to not disrespect or antagonize a ROB-G.O.D; that would never end well for me!

And it just occurred to me that this O'Dimm knew about the Witcher game series, so he knew of the story and all the adventures of Geralt and any way he could have planned to defeat Gaunter would have already been known by him. That is uber-scary!

"So, how may I address you, my lord?"

He chuckled, "Gaunter would be fine."

"Gaunter, so what does my adventure beyond here entail? You don't mean the eternal damnation kind, do you?"

He was seemingly patient and answered amiably.

"No kid, no hell for you, and adventures mean the kind you read and fantasised about, though no Jump-chains for you, they are boring and peeking at your life every ten years is plain irritating. No, I would drop you in a world, let you marinate in it as long as you want, with one prime directive: you must kill and plunder and outright destroy every person or organization with authority and power in that plane. You can loot and plunder and **** and pillage for all I care, but the ruling class, and those chosen by fate must be utterly destroyed by your hands. You have seen what I can do, and how I do it, and I know how you saw me manipulate the pitiful mortals in that game, now you must do it and entertain me, and if I find your actions satisfactory, I will let you keep your hoardings, within reasonable limit, of course, and transport you in to another world to continue your actions."

Okay, not a bad deal, and frankly as a gamer, I was always the kind to kill NPCs and disrupt the world, just to see how the game reacts to it. I was a sociopath when I was alive and killing and rampantly destroying the world is all acceptable, if I get to live freely, and usurp power in the process. If I was a righteous and saintly man, O'Dimm won't be interested in me now, would he?

"I would have no problem with that, but I have a few questions before I agree to it. May I have answers to them to satisfy my curiosity?"

At seeing him nod, I continued, "I understand that in Dungeons and Dragons term, this would make my moral alignment 'Chaotic Evil', but is there any major repercussion from the world itself, like those stories I read? Will the fate of the world itself plot to eliminate me? Will the world be alerted to my presence simply because of the ripples, my actions in previous world would cause? And what would you gain from supporting me, would I be enslaved to you, or forced to do something to my detriment for your pleasure?"

O'Dimm was calm and patient throughout my questionnaire and waited till I paused to take a breath.

"No, the world has no will, like those cultivation novels, except when you are in that plane, and even then, I will mask your presence and origin. No divinity or prophetic seers would be able to scry your intentions or actions. As such no agents of fate would intervene and I would never pit you against gods, unless you are fully capable to crush them like the ambitious bugs that they are.

As to why, I do this, you could call me an agent of chaos, and I intend to propagate chaos throughout all planes. In return of helping you, I mould an ally, who has similar dispositions as me, and wishes to become the harbinger of evil and tyranny upon the worlds. And I want nothing in return, nor will I dictate your every action, but I want certain tasks completed to the letter, without loopholes and deviations. If you swear to this, then I swear to assist you to grow as powerful as me, and rob every world of their offerings and bounty till you can crush worlds and those ROB, you keep thinking about. I understand you cannot trust me after playing the game, but I assure you, there is nothing I gain from lying to you, when I need you to trust me now."

And so I swore to his demand, in the exact spirit of the oath knowing, that crossing Gaunter at this stage is plain idiotic; but not before hammering out the exact details of our deal to the very letter.

He grins at me, and offers, "So should we discuss about the specifics of our journey, if all goes as planned, you get to travel worlds, acc.u.mulate strengths and circ.u.mvent all weaknesses. I could see how you want to acc.u.mulate magic, skills, abilities and even bloodlines from all the fiction you read, watched and played. So I offer you a choice, to start as you see fit, but in each world, you accomplish something for me. As a sign-in bonus, choose one of the simpler worlds, and I'll give you an easy task like killing thousands or so. So what is the first world you want to visit?"

I was thrilled, cautious, but thrilled. Planes-walking, but without limit and with O'Dimm as my Jump-Chan, and not having the usual drawbacks of a typical Jump-chain was a tremendous advantage and allowed flexibility and freedom. So we discussed the various starts and debated over each of them. I wanted security, and G.O.D wanted a Jumpstart, which meant higher risks but with greater returns. I finally negotiated down my first world to allow me to settle down and yet earn a bigger advantage in the very beginning: Increased Life-span. That would be a game-changer, and with a few initial seed abilities, like ability to speak, write, read and hear all human languages and comprehend all their dialects, including all the changes the languages go through over a period of time. This ability which I dubbed, 'True All-Speak', since it allowed me to truly learn and comprehend any language was a game changer.

I started my journey to Godhood, by taking a dive in the ancient Sumer in the Netflix version of Dracula, as it was closest to what I desired: to become a vampire with shape-shifting abilities, and to be able to overcome glaring weaknesses like over-reliance on blood, aversion to garlics, silver and holy objects, and fear of the cross or other sacred symbols. The show depicted these weaknesses of Dracula as psychosomatic, and associated with his fear of death, and as such it was what I wanted as my first power: the power of a Vampire without being sired by another Vampire, or without making a deal with the Devil, or by being changed by a disease or a Curse, as shown in traditional depictions of Dracula, or limited by the traditional weaknesses of a vampire.

I discussed this with Gaunter and ensured that the initial backstory for me is supposed to give me a background of becoming a Vampire naturally, after being felled in a Battle. I even asked him to make my body absolutely regenerative and adaptive, such that diseases transmitted by blood never infect me or affect my abilities in any way. I asked for enhanced mental faculties, to store and acc.u.mulate memories, and never forget what I saw or 'absorbed'. And lastly, I ensured the world I came to was exactly I wanted it to be, and not diverge in any way. Gaunter was pleasantly smiling, and agreed to my demands without a protest.

When I was ready, he sent me off saying, "I think this is a start of a beautiful friendship. Don't contact me, unless your life depends on it or you need something important answered. Contact me, by praying before a mirror and thinking of me. As you sponsor, I grant to ability to use mirrors to allude, to elude, or to illude; to reflect the truth and to travel where you desire. Mirrors are your friend, and all that reflects shall never injure you."

.

.

I woke up bloodied in a field strewn with dismembered bodies and dried caked blood varnishing the autumn grass. The weapons of the fallen and the armours and helmets of the dead lay besmirched with the torn guts and chunks of flesh and it was dusk as the sun set over the field in the west behind me. I rose wearing my headdress as was customary of the commander and immediately got the memories of the body I now possess. Ishkur, as this body was called, was a Warlord and battle commander of the city of Ur, and we were laying a siege to the city which would later become the most flourished and advanced centre of civilization.

We had crossed the river and built a temporary alliance with another city and combined forces to lay a siege to the new developing city. The internal turmoil and instability had led to a great war in the south, and we fought an uphill battle with the Urrukai, the native inhabitants of the city of Uruk. In the battle, we won as the second in command Bilgaames entered the city walls with our army, but I, the commander, fell. At least historically!

Now that I took this body, I drank the blood of my companions who lay on the ground, and drank my fill, from each. With each gulp of the drying blood, I drank in the memories, the emotions, the experiences, the knowledge, and even the orthodox mentality and personality of people. I had already asked for ability to store and process memories better from Gaunter, so even if it was overwhelming, I could process every figment of individuality that I consumed.

It was soon to be Dusk and I travelled on foot, this time, without tiring, and faster than humanely possible. I had many changes to try and I was not going to try them all here. I had regenerated from my debilitating injuries, and had no leaking wounds, and thus swiftly reached the gates. There was a contingent of soldiers who guarded the sieged walls, and turned with caution at my sight. As I neared them though, they grew wary and confused to see me walk closer, with their own uniform and armament. "Halt, who are you? The last injured soldiers were brought back to the camp a while ago." As I was about to reply, the captain came forward excitedly, "Lord Ishkur, we saw you fall at the hands of the enemy archer. Lord Bilgaames reported your demise to the army after we succeeded. Do you need assistance my lord?"

I saw him and remembered him to be one of the Veterans, and accompanied him into the city of Uruk, now ours to rule, as the victorious commander. Bilgaames was awestruck and confused, but happy nonetheless. I let him be in command of the army, and decided publically to renounce my command to Bilgaames, whom I believe is the Gilgamesh of legends, the King of Heroes.

I started travelling the lands, drank blood from the people, enjoyed the knowledge and skills that I acc.u.mulated, and travelled far and wide.

I never settled in one place, lack of emotions, allowed no emotional contact or bonds to develop. Ancient time was a very easy time to get laid, and since I could never naturally sire a child, I was having the time of my life. Not relying on food, rather conventional food, allowed me to travel without stops, and not needing sleep allowed me to travel as a swarm of bats, ravens or wolfs. I had domesticated packs of the creatures to serve me, as they were naturally drawn to me. And having the wolves sleep in a place, ensured that nobody disturbed my lair, where I often took old men and women, and feasted on their frail bodies, absorbing their memories and experiences.

I was a skilled artisan, woodworking, metalworking, sewing, construction, painting, ink-making, cooking, and many more skills, that I simply absorbed and mentally catalogued into sections to recall instantly. I observed that not fearing death meant that the ones I infected never rose up as Vampires, unless I turned them willingly. And I never travelled with those whom I turned.

I realised that having sired vampires serving as elders of societies all over the world, meant that I was creating a network of able immortal and placing them in a position of power. I was able to communicate with my thralls mentally, no matter the distance, and I was informed, that the ability to travel to mirrors, or not be seen as a husk in a mirror, or shape-shifting into ravens was unique to me. And my thralls could never communicate mentally with their own sired ones like I could over such a long distance.

I travelled all over the continents, placed my sired ones in the position of power in civilizations who were just beginning to crawl towards being civil. And I ensured that every one of my sired ones was informed of their 'colleagues' to avoid unneeded conflicts. My sired ones were revered as elders and immortal guardians, and since they did not have my immunity, they drank blood of their sired thralls to gain memories, while they 'hibernated'.

'

I saw another advantage to my powers that I need not sleep in a coffin of my native soil to heal or rest. I was travelling all over the world, and islands uninhabited and even met a few cannibals, but never was I restricted to move. I healed slowly after being injured with an Aspen wood tool, and I felt uneasy entering temples, but that was it. I could walk into a home, and all places be they churches or temples, mosques or synagogues. No weakness to holy sigils or runes or symbols of gods. And I took blatant advantage of it.

I had no tasks to complete in this world, as I was already causing enough chaos, and as I settled in the British Isles, after the Romans left and just before the Norman Invasion, in a castle owned by one of my sired ones' thrall's thrall. Too complicated, but I was known to all the sired ones from my line as the 'Proauctor' and by other names in other languages having the similar meaning, "Ancestor".

I relaxed after laying the ground work, and whenever my sired ones were awake, they kept me in the loop of the 'current events'. I had eyes and ears in all places, and realised that I could scry using the mirrors to communicate with others, use the mirrors to travel there regardless of the various holy sigils or protections my enemies tried, and I could cast an illusion on people who looked into the mirrors.

I ensured the mirrors were cheaply developed and glass and mirrors were readily available to everyone in the world. Since the mirrors showed the shrivelled true faces of a vampire in them, my sired ones only kept one mirror near their coffins to call for my help. Many a righteous 'evil-ending' heroes tried to kill my subordinates with holy weapons and blessed tools, but I intervened and took care of the problem. No need to mention, that I was ensuring the 'heroes' were there in the first place, because my subordinates must be kept in check, and their egos, more so.

It was a blast for me, as I relished in the world, and travelled all over, ensuring that riches were being hoarded, all knowledge was shared with me, and all innovations, from Aqueducts, to gunpowder, from ink, to paper, to spices, to tobacco, to Damascus steel and even the concealed weapons and poison. I was able to hoard all knowledge and ensure that wars were waged to ensure progress, and that my vampires never interfered with any mortal wars and conflicts, because these conflicts were key elements to development and progress. I ensured a lot of bandits, raiders and cannibals attacked the lands and there was a general mayhem just to speed up the progress. By the early fifteenth century, I had set the stage, and watched the world get ready for the Geniuses to be born, and the Renaissance to arrive.

I was a hoarder by nature, and a bibliophile in my last life. So I had a well preserved library of manuscripts, codex, scrolls, and bound books from all over the world. I ensured that at least one copy of every book not related to religion was in this library, and it became the largest compendium ever possible, as it had even the scrolls and texts from the Library of Alexandria and from the ancient clay tablets and wood or stone carvings. The library was aired and the knowledge transferred verbatim and exactly from the old dilapidated scrolls. And not just old scrolls and manuscripts, but even modern journals of famous noteworthy people, and thinkers were preserved in my Library.

An army of vampires tirelessly maintained the knowledge, and in return got to drink their fill. After the Chinese papers were perfected, the papyrus scrolls and parchments were retired, and the old original ones were well preserved in a proper storage place. The vampires were nimble and efficient and the knowledge was preserved as were the original works. I ensured that after the Printing Press was invented, the block-work and movable typesets were transferred as was the knowledge to make it. And thus I was storing information and knowledge which I remembered exactly due to my 'perfect recall' and was saving the wisdom of the old.

Apart from this 'intervention', I was not that busy, once the other sired ones got the hang of their domain, and I enjoyed the world and all its bounties. In the eighteenth century, there was little to do and watch the pesky struggles in the European politics, as the other parts of the world were colonised and enslaved. I had told my subordinates to not act as a few were in Asia, Africa or South America. I wanted the struggles and conflict and ensured the worlds saw a more violent conflict than without my presence. The imperialists had to face a smart guerrilla tactics and disciplined insurgents and local rebels who were armed to the teeth.

Now, in the eighteenth century, I waited on the Wallachian borders as a carriage brought an unsuspecting Jonathan Harker to the Castle. I had already met the Count before he became a Vampire, and assisted him in repelling the Turkish invaders by assisting him, and gave him my true name Ishkur. It was a busy period, since apart from all the conflict and acquiring the famous works from the Renaissance period, I was puppeteering a few wars here and there. So now that I had a little room to breathe between global conflicts, I concentrated on the show as it was to be.

.

.

So, without much to do, beyond a few skirmishes, I laid back and watched the life and death of Jonathan Harker as he made his way to the Convent in Budapest, and followed the series to the letter, even some parts of the dialogues.

I waited till the charismatic and skeptic Sister Agatha faced the Count, and I appeared behind him as the gates were opened. The sister had just thrown the knife smeared in her blood on the ground, when I walked behind the n.a.k.e.d Count, disgusting fluid and globs of flesh stuck in his armpits.

"So Sister Agatha, am I welcome in his stead? I promise to be good." The other nuns were wary as I walked beside the Count. He was looking at me in fascination, as I was about the tallest being there about 6 feet and 5 inches, fair and unblemished, strong aristocratic face and a defined sculpted face, raven almost amethyst eyes and platinum blonde hair. I was wearing tight leather armour with decorative dragon motifs carved and etched in them, and a chainmail underneath. I was the very definition of a Voivode, the Romanian equivalent of Warlord or Chieftain. And despite my silver locks, I had a youthful face, the same as I was when I died the second time in the battlefield before the Uruk city walls.

"Who are you? Are you with the count?" The sister was undeterred, and brave despite facing the unknown. A vampire's instincts grow with age, and living as long as I have, I could differentiate between emotions and expressions just basing on their smell, and heartbeat. "No, I am not today, though I was at one point in time his ally, I no longer need to be one." The Count was looking at me with fascination. "So you are a vampire, just like me, Ishkur? I need not have hidden myself from you back during the Turkish invasion then." I look at him with pity. "No Count, We may be similar, but we are not alike. You have not realised your true potential and gotten over your insecurities. Even now you play with the nuns like this, where is the fun in playing with food when it has no chance to fight back?"

Here Sister Agatha interrupts me, "Whoever you are stranger, you are also explicitly not invited into the Convent. Your likes will never be invited here, no matter how many vampires you call forth, Count Dracula." I was getting a bit testy, and even if millennia worth of lifespans offers a unique moderate perspective, tremendous patience and a laid-back attitude, I was always a condescending arrogant Narcissist.

The Count was looking at me to see what I would do next, but expressed mild shock when I walked past the gates and stood before a shocked and trembling Sister Agatha. "Don't worry little girl, I won't kill you, but you should never have tested me like this. Now I would not be inclined to intervene if the Count chooses to kill you." I looked at all the nuns who stood in shock before me, and then at the Count.

I mentally informed him, that his thrall Jonathan is staked, but not dead, and he could enter from there. After he had his fill, and his pride sated, we could talk. And before the count and the nuns, I shift into a raven and flew out towards the nearby canopy with my pet ravens. My pet ravens and wolves and bats were always well fed, and bred to serve me. So usually I had them all travel with me for the shock and awe.

And the Count was forgotten, as he vanished into bats and moved towards the window where Jonathan laid with a stake in his heart. Poor Johnny never knew that someone else should stake vampires to kill them; suicide-by-stakes was never an option for him in the first place. After the massacre of the Convent, and Mina Harker and Sister Agatha left in the bas.e.m.e.nt, I walked to the two of them, as they watched in trembling fear, crossing the sacramental bread and stood before the cross-bearing terrified women.

"So now do you wish you never antagonized me in the first place? A vampire who can cross wards and not be deterred by the holy symbols of your lord? The one being who could have protected you from the Count, and you just had to be rude to me, huh Sister Van Helsing?"

I saw Mina shivering and hiding behind the Sister as she bravely faced me, "Kill me if you must, but spare her. She is innocent; it is me who you want."

I looked at her and grinned, revealing my fangs, "I want neither of you and I can have anyone I want. Why would I be bothered with an arrogant rude nun, and a lovestruck despairing fiancée? I just came to see you both before your lives took a turn for the worse."

I see Agatha analysing my words, "But how could you cross the gate and even now, and how does the cross not repel you?"

I decided to have a chat with her, as I told Dracula mentally to take his time, before coming here. "I am not a regular Vampire like the Count here, love. I am not centuries old, but millennia old, more than 5000 years to be exact. Your cross does not deter me, because I was born before even your son of God was. And unlike the Count here, I am beyond what you could ever imagine. I hope at least one of you survives this ordeal, and if you do, we will meet again. Till then!"

And I turned into a bat and flew through the crevice, as Dracula made an entry in Harker's meat-suit, and was invited in. Mina ran away, and Sister Agatha was put under. I ensured that the Mina Murray-Harker was put under close surveillance, as it was hinted in the show that the Harker Foundation was funded by scrupulous means, and not just the estate of Mina left to her by her soon-to-be-dead father. One of my servant-vampires was watching her closely, and as she ran away from the massacre distraught and in despair, I waited for the Count to smell me.

"So now that I was civil to you, and waited patiently for whatever you did, will you now tell me, who or rather what you are? I saw Agatha's memories, so I know what you spoke of with them, and I agree a Vampire surviving thousands of years is far stronger than anything I can imagine, but how can you not go mad, after so many memories and emotions?"

I smiled, and talked to him for a while, describing my story and leaving out the sired vampires and world domination parts, only describing my life as a wandering traveller. He accepted my tale, and took the unconscious Agatha with him.

.

.

I walked before a mirror and prayed to Gaunter, and within an instant I got a reply from him, "It's been a while. And I am glad I did not get called upon often. So what do you need?"

I was curious, "Sorry to bother you, Gaunter but I before I ask my query, do you keep an eye on me, or do you have any knowledge of my actions here? Because my question is a bit related to what I have been doing recently."

He shakes his head, "I am a bit hands-off, as I like to see what humans and mortals can come up with to surprise me. Give me a bit of a context, and ask me your question, and keep it brief."

I nodded at his informal and casual attitude, and explained the delicate scrolls and parchments I preserved. "Thank you Gaunter, so I have been hoarding a bit of books and other wealth, so is it possible to take it all with me as I travel to other worlds, or do I have to leave it all behind?"

He answered, "Yes, I can make it so, that whatever you need you can store in a pocket dimension, which will grow as you keep things in it, but nothing living mind you. If you keep anything inside it, no time will pass, and it will remain in stasis. But be reasonable, as only sources of knowledge or information, and tools and weapons can be stored in there. And for your survival purposes, no more than 100 litres of blood in it, which will be more than sufficient for you. Is that reasonable? But remember no paintings, art pieces or other collectibles, only texts, tools, weapons and armour"

"I am grateful for it, and I understand that the treasures cannot be stored, otherwise I would mine away the entire planet and keep the ores in the space. I just had a chat with Count Dracula and realised that I have thralls and vampires whom I turned personally, so is it possible to take companions with me?"

He shakes his head, "No, no companions in your travel. I know you are not overly attached to anyone as it is not in your nature. But taking anyone away will lead to complications, and taking natives away from their world will be impossible. So no companions or travelling harem members, though you can come back to any of the travelled worlds, after completing each journey."

"And after I leave this world and travel to the next, can I come back here again whenever I want, and how does the time differ between two worlds?" I asked.

"No, if you come back on your own, even if you learn the skills, will cause the world to repel you and punish you for intruding. So without my help, you cannot safely travel between worlds, and I will not be your planes-walking chauffeur. If you want to come back, come after you complete one world, and in return you would have to accept a task from me, unquestionably. Personally, I recommend to take care of all your business before you hop worlds, as to beings like you and me, there is nothing or no one that needs you returning to a world, you already conquered and drained. And if you still feel the need to do so, then I can ensure that no time passes between your travel and return, and you would return to the exact point in space and time when you left."

After thanking Gaunter for his explanation, and walking through the mirror, I reached my stash, where I gave time-off to all the Vampires who were busy in the library, after telling them to catalogue all the contents of the library and the various compendiums, annals and treatises being compiled at my behest. I had them hand over every research journal, notes and original manuscripts and records, and informed them to meet me after a week, which was incidentally a Harvest Day, so All Hallows Eve. Not only poems, but technical books about plants and animals, sketches and diaries of various orthodox healers and shamans, and the sort of Rosetta Stone for every language collectively known to us since my arrival here, were catalogued and arranged systematically for my perusal.

Gaunter gave me the pocket space immediately after I contacted him, and after all the vampires were driven away by excuses of storing the Current Library and starting afresh, I took to the task to transfer the entire Library into my pocket dimension, which after three days at my superior Vampire strength and stamina I had only been able to store the original manuscripts and scrolls, and the newer ones and the research material were still left to be packed and moved.

Despite that, I took breaks and continued to look after my other work, like ensuring the works which were being translated and researched were not left unfinished. I sorted out the ones whose work were left undone and transferred the rest into the pocket Dimension, which I nick-named the "Inventory".

After the week passed, I informed the team of Vampire working at the 'Library' to call themselves the "Librarians" and bring in all sorts of holy or demonic relics, weapons or books and bring them to the now empty library to populate. I had them take the sigil of a large Banyan Tree, and spread out into the world to collect all items of importance or note, before the twentieth century kicks in, and the Nazis come into power.

This was the late nineteenth century, and as Dracula was travelling with Sister Agatha to the English Isles, I had the 180 Librarians to spread out into the world, and requisition the artifacts of note. I had a general sense with the "Inventory" of whether an item could be stored inside the pocket dimension, and therefore, I was not worried about destroying something important and unique without realising. The remaining 25 Librarians were left behind to complete their work and finish either translating or analysing the records at the "Library" and to keep me informed about the General Progress.

I realised that with effort and practice, I could learn new skills, and see the extent of my reach. I realised that speaking in the metaphysical sense, everything which could come under the domain of "Darkness" could be manipulated, controlled or affected by me. So within the first millennium, I could control mist, creatures of dark, like insects, ravens, crows, vultures, scorpions, spiders, lizards, wolves, bats, and even Bears for some reason. They obeyed me, followed me, and swarmed me and never hurt me, and it was all I tried, till I tried manipulating shadows.

It was difficult and mentally draining but after 500 years or so, I could walk and travel in shadows, I could vanish in the shadows and after a close encounter with an Active Volcano, I could control and manipulate ashes and smoke. I could control the mist, and by extension learnt to control the clouds to cover the skies. My emotions affected my control greatly, but meditating and orienting my mind to be calm was easy-peasy for an ancient vampire like me.

After draining a few sick and dying, I realised that the diseases were not affecting me, and instead my body was naturally creating antibodies to every disease I came I contact with. I exploited this to become immune to diseases, and though I could taste the blood like it was curdled milk, I still drank to my fill. All epidemics, debilitating diseases of the tropics, and all the medieval plague and flu victims had 'graciously' offered me their blood. And I was waiting for the Spanish flu and the primate transmitted diseases to roll in, so that my body becomes immune to them too.

I enjoyed the nineteenth century, and as my Librarians travelled at break neck speed, and started the acc.u.mulation of relics or weapons, I had my other sired ones informed to cooperate fully. Within 15 years, I had gathered the largest trove of weapons, holy relics, paintings, sculptures, or surviving texts as well as the new ones being created every day. I stored all I could in the Inventory and preserved the rest as the 25 Librarians who were left behind began the managerial work of cataloguing everything that was brought in, and stored the information of everything I inventoried on a separate Journal.

Apart from preservation and protection of Art and Books, since I knew the Chinese Revolution, the Russian Revolution and the world wars were just round the corner I funded expeditions and ensured my Librarians were part of the Excavations of all the important sites which I knew from my Time. From the Egyptian, Sumerian, Aztec, Mayan, Babylonian, Indus Valley and even the Chinese and Aboriginal, all the important sites were excavated, and brought back to the Library. Why do this, when I cannot take the fossils with me, or have any use for the arts and relics? Simply, because antiques are giant market in the peace times after the wars, and a great source of funds for me. And I have my own collection of items, from my travels. So it gives me the opportunity to claim the source for all my history and accuracy.

Now in the early 1900s, I saw the wars and conflicts flame out all around the world, and immediately ensured all the vampires under my command were part of each and every one of them. A few of my original ones died after the hidden Catholic societies waged wars on the Vampires and creatures of the dark, and even the Mina Murray's foundation named after her fiancé, was angling towards my and mine. I let them stew for a while, and the ones who I knew were conspiring against me, were targeted as I had always ensured the ones leading the charge against vampires were always under my thrall. I ensured that the loyal and faithful ones were always protected, and as the Fiefdom and Lordship were no longer in power, the vampires under my control who were in an aristocratic position, were shuffled around the world, to ensure that no connections to my 'organisation' were ever made.

I was prospering in war as all the private arms factory over the world were under my control, and secretly were mass producing weapons and researching for better ones, while keeping the stocks in my Inventory. I was a walking army, as I currently had stocked armoury to supply a war of 300000 a side for five years. And yet, knowing it to not be enough, I gave directives to research for better arms, and ammunition and ensured all weapons produced under my control followed a uniform standard for bullet calibre.

When one of my vampires relayed news of the Crown Prince of Austria falling in 1914, I knew the July of 1914, was the last month of peace before the war begins. Knowing that this world has vampires, I had already outfitted my own vampires with wooden stakes, wooden bullets, silver knifes and even silver bayonets outfitted on rifles. I ensured that an elite unit of warrior vampires were always on reserve if a contingent of vampires came from the enemy side.

I ensured the Church and Harker Foundation participated in the war, and kept an eye on vampire sightings. I began negotiating and rather 'manipulating' the governments on both sides, to agree to buy my weapons, in return for various favours which I exploited. By the time the war was a bloody as it could be even after the October Revolution in Russia, I had nearly tripled my original wealth. I had stopped producing arms, knowing that the countries would begin an arms race, with which I cannot compete alone, and waited for the wars to end. I had better and flexible arms which allowed the arms race to be fiercer than it would have been.

I did not want to live in this world beyond the death of Dracula in 2017, as that would be when it would stop being interesting, so I was merely waiting for the various Philosophers, scientists and artists to gain fame and publish their works. I already had at least two copies of the signed original first editions of almost all of my favourite authors and people of note. And my stash at the Library was ever expanding. By the end of the war, I had joined the allied forces and ensured the arts and treasures were all stolen and moved into my Library. No being other than a vampire had ever reached here, and it was underneath a mountain and located where there was no road. The only way out of there or in there, was through the giant mirror I kept there, through which I transported everyone inside and out. So no chances of spies or sabotage!

By the time it was 1933, I had already begun my weapon mass production, and this time, I had all the doc.u.mentation of the top secret and confidential doc.u.ments from all the developed countries. Even for the Warsh.i.p.s, tanks and Fighter Planes! I built a larger stock this time, and compared to original history, this reality's Second World War had a recorded 85 million casualties. This was to my belief, more than satisfactory in Gaunter's books, and I ensured he knew about it.

As a reward, I was offered a quest-based reward system for my next world, where if I completed certain tasks, I could get access to magics, spells, abilities and skills. I was happy with what I could get, and ensured the remaining time, before the Count is brought out of his slumber, is spent in selling out some of the gathered antiques and ensuring that my vampires have a finger in all the pies collectively known as the Criminal Underworld. The organised crime was united under me, lands were bought, radioactive elements were isolated, purified and supplied to me. Al the oil and energy businesses were under my control, and I had a meet in 2011 with all my vampires. I would meet them all periodically, and ensured that they got to exist as they want but without exposing our kind to the normal people.

At the meet, I saw all the vampires in my coven, about thousands of the richest and most powerful beings on Earth in one place, and I prepared them for the eventuality of my absence. I was not planning on coming back to this world again, and if there was no need to replenish my armoury, which I had a substantial amount of left in my Inventory, then there would really be no need to come here again. As diamonds, emeralds, quartz, sapphires, rubies, amethysts, topaz and other occult gemstones and also granite, pearls, amber, ambergris, mercury, silver, gold and platinum were considered part of the magical ammunition or enchant-able resources, I could store them all in my Inventory. I had stashed all of them greedily and I am sure I had gathered at least 5 trucks full of them in the past thousands of years. As such, I had left very little jewellery in the world to begin with and the world had very little demand for it, with my manipulations.

I ensured that the world was drained of all I needed, and after the enchanted bullets and knives, I waited for the good guns to come so that I could hoard them all.

The name Gilgamesh was derived from Bilga meaning ancestor and Mes meaning Heroes, or Leader. So I thought the name was okay.

I have been told, that I cannot write dialogues well, as they seem one-dimensional in my earlier writings, so I tried to improve, but I appreciate any criticism to improve my writing. I tend to concentrate more on the plots and how it would all work out, so my writing may seem a bit dry.

But I promise I will work on it.

The earlier fics were not going in the direction I wanted, and so instead of draining them out, I usually end up abandoning them.

I absolutely despise Slice of Life or slow-burn fics, so i tend to haste into the plot early on. If you have any suggestions, please comment on the chapter. As always, thanks for your support!
