Chapter 111.2 – Adding More Firewood

Originally, Xie Yuan assisted the Rong Emperor in unifying the North and established the Rong State, and he was highly valued and trusted by the latter. But his background was the biggest danger.

The two of them were stunned and turned their heads, only to see Lu Sheng, innocently throwing charcoal into the brazier with an innocent face. Seeing the two of them look over, she even raised her tiny face and gave them a pure and harmless smile, as if waiting for praise.

The young couple looked at the brazier and then at the little dumpling, and couldn’t help but laugh when realization dawned on the. Qi Yang held Lu Sheng in her arms and said, ‘Why is Ah Sheng so cute?’ while hugging her happily.

Lu Sheng blinked in confusion and tilted her head for a moment, then, thinking that Qi Yang’s words should be a praise for her, she also smiled with satisfaction.

The rabbit that was originally held in Lu Sheng’s arms was a bit pitiful though. When Qi Yang suddenly hugged Lu Sheng, it was caught in the middle and almost suffocated to death. After struggling and finally managing to jump out, it panicked and jumped straight to the direction of the brazier.

Fortunately, Lu Qipei had sharp eyes and quick hands. She was afraid that something would happen to the rabbit and Lu Sheng would cry again, so she grabbed one of its hind legs and saved it from falling into the brazier!

Fortunately, the rabbit escaped the fate of being a roasted rabbit. But amidst the hurry, the rising flame managed to scorch the rabbit, and not only did its eyebrows and whiskers get singed, even the originally snow-white fur on its face turned yellow.

Before the rabbit kicked with its hind leg, Lu Qipei threw it to the side, and couldn’t help but feel amused looking at its “miserable” appearance.

On the other hand, Lu Sheng was startled and hurriedly struggled out of Qi Yang’s embrace, then picked up her precious rabbit and thoroughly examined it. In the end, it was found that apart from the yellowed fur and wilted beard, the rabbit itself was fine.

The little dumpling breathed a sigh of relief. Unaware that its fur had been roasted yellow, she took out a handkerchief from her arms to wipe the rabbit’s face.

The rabbit behaved really well in her arms, neither kicking nor struggling. Even when it had its face wiped forcefully, it only gave a look of despair, then finally started combing its own fur with its paws.

Qi Yang and Lu Qipei looked at the interaction between these two little ones and felt a bit amused. They watched the two for a while before withdrawing their gaze. After that, Lu Qipei looked at the flames in the brazier that had become quite a bit stronger, and exchanged glances with Qi Yang with a knowing look.
