Chapter 208 Am I The Side Character? - Part 0 [Chloe]

??? Years in the future.

***

ah.

What is this feeling?

Hold on.

What happened to everything?

Everything suddenly became white.

Hey.

Someone.

ah.

I know this feeling.

I know it all too well.

so you've come back for me.

I thought you would.

*?!*!*?*

My vision was filled with the pale unease of the colour of white. It was a colour I was well acquainted with. It was a colour that represented me to an uncanny degree. I wanted to hide that from everyone else, but nonetheless, it was going to catch up to me in the end.

The room was completely blank.

Well, that was a lie. It wasn't completely blank. Strewn throughout the ground, the walls and the world, was the colour of my heart. The rough yet somewhat comforting bed I rest on was also purely white.

White.

It's funny. I always wanted somebody to save me. For as long as I knew, I wanted something, someone, somebody. I know what was wrong now, wrong about everything. It was so obvious that it was shoved straight into my face. Well, I'm an airhead, an idiot, a naïve child. It was to be expected.

Haha.

Ah, it was refreshing sitting alone in this room. Maybe someone would come to find me, that would be quite interesting. It was neither cold nor warm, the world was neither kind nor mean, and my heart was filled with neither hope nor despair. It was empty. Well, that was a lie.

It was simply all white.

'Sachi.'

Oh? Someone's calling my name? I wonder who it could be. I sat up a little on my bed and stared towards the wall. The room had no entry, by the same nature, it had no exit. No one could come in, and no one could get out, well I mean I couldn't get out. That was fine, however. It wasn't like I wanted to leave anyways. My heart was empty, no, my heart was white.

I really wondered sometimes, my existence, my everything, why was I brought into this world?

Ah, how am I supposed to know.

It was all pointless, after all.

It was all just white.

White.

Suddenly, standing in front of me was a boy.

"Ah, you sure look quite lonely in here."

"Don't worry. I'm not lonely."

"Wouldn't you want me to be your knight in shining armour and elegantly carry you out of this place?"

"Ah, that sure would be nice, wouldn't it?"

The boy chuckled.

"Breaking into a young girl's room like this, you better have a good reason."

"Maybe I was just overtaken by my lust."

"Sorry, but that doesn't classify as a good reason."

The boy backed up a few steps. The silent, unmoving air conjured a cold yet mystifying atmosphere in the room. There was nothing aside from the damp, pointless words of the two children.

"Oh man, well, what if I say it was because I wanted to save you."

"Only problem is, I don't need saving."

"You're not cute at all, are you."

"Aw, you saw me as a hopeless little princess?"

"Well, that's what you look like to me."

Ah, this boy. My memories are filled to the brim with my time spent with him. Every crevasse of plentiful experiences is completely swallowed by this boy's presence.

Back then, I wanted nothing more than to spend even one more minute with him. Back then, my entire world was this boy. Back then, I would find my greatest solace within his tight yet gentle embrace.

Back then, I loved him.

"So, are you going to come to sweep me off my feet?"

"I'm not sure if I can. I haven't exercised in a while."

"Don't worry. I'm very light. I haven't eaten in a while either."

Despite his words, his posture showed no sign of warmth. Despite his words, he showed no sign of kindness, no sign of benevolence.

Well, it was understandable that his words were all covered by the pungent scent of sarcasm.

The boy was a dark, empty shell, just like me.

Ah, why is it that even when I lose everything. You still stand by my side, boy.

Slowly, I pulled myself up from the bed.

"Ah, scary monster, are you going to attack me now?"

"That's no way to refer to a pretty girl like me."

"Oh, sorry, I meant monster dressed up as a pretty girl."

"Well, that's fine, I suppose."

Step by step, I softly walked towards the boy.

He simply stood there, apathetic, unmoving, and uncaring.

"Your words don't fit your actions, you know?"

"I guess I was always an unreliable person."

"Well, as long as you know."

No matter how much we spoke to each other. Nothing ever stuck. It was like yelling into a void.

Eventually, I walked close enough so that I could touch him if I wanted. I tensed my arm a little, retracting it back.

With one quick movement, he caught my arm in mid-air before I could hit him. His rough hands firmly gripped onto my wrist.

"Ah, I'm being attacked by a lustful teenage boy."

"Oh man, but aren't you the person who attacked me?"

"Oops, looks like you've figured me out.'

After a short moment, he let go of my arm.

Ah, the touch of this boy brought back so many memories. The old me would have blushed at just the thought of this. We were truly naïve little kids helplessly being pulled into the never-ending void that would be—love.

Now, I could remember all the memories. However, I couldn't at all feel any of the emotions I did back then. I always wondered how I felt back when I was hopelessly in love. It must have been a nice feeling.

Maybe I'll be able to feel what I felt back then once again.

I'll find out sooner or later, I guess.

"Are you going to kick me next?'

"Oh, why would I do that?"

"I don't know. It just seemed fitting."

"What, you want me to kick you? You're so perverted."

"Well, you can't blame me. I'm just a simple-minded teenage boy with no desires aside from lust."

"Aw, maybe you should go find another unsuspecting victim. Sadly, I'm already aware of your carnal ambitions."

After that short exchange, we stood still, looking at each other.

"So tell me."

"What is it, Chloe?"

"You managed to get in here."

"Maybe I was teleported here by the gods."

"Tell me."

"Yeah?"

"Why have you come here? William."
